There aren't a ton of options in the area, fortunately, this is a good one. My husband & I visited the Shipshewana area for a few days. When we got to our airbnb, kind of late on a Tues night, this was one of only a handful of places open. We arrived just 30min before they closed. We offered to order to-go, so we wouldn't keep them late. The girl who greeted & waited on us was super friendly & inviting so we stayed to eat. I got a turkey Manhattan & the turkey was tender & juicy! Delicious gravy too. My husband got a roastbeef sandwich & fries. He also enjoyed his.

Stopped here while passing through. The building is adorable and the atmosphere is warm. Our server was great. She was prompt with drinks, didn't forget anything, and offered conversation. The food was okay. My husband ordered the hungry man skillet- we had to take a picture because the kraft singles "cheese" melted on top was comical. I had a half order of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were perfectly crumbly but moist, but the gravy was floury and had minimal sausage.

There are not a lot of options in White Pigeon for food. We were recommended this restaurant. There were quite a number of folks for lunch along with us. The food was "ok" but not exceptional. There was some confusion on what was ordered and what was provided. The restaurant was happy to remake what was wrong. 3 Stars - OK, but wouldn't suggest to anyone to go here but willing to go if someone else wanted to go

Food and service were great. Nice country cafe. Large menu. Liver and onions were just like Mom made.

Good food! Great service! And quick with getting food out. Usually a little pricey but the food is well worth it.

Yoooooo this place is a diamond in the rough. I highly recommend!…read more The service was amazing When you walk in you're greeted with the feeling of this is "the place to be" it literally feels like you're right at home. Super clean and very comfortable. great food I was blown away with the home style cooking I'm definitely coming here again and I think you should too. Thank you for making my morning 800 miles away from home, feel like I was right at home.

We saw some good reviews and had hopes for this one. When we entered we were quietly greeted, found…read morea table to where our waitress said I'm sorry ahead of time, I've never done this before. We put in our drinks in and weren't sure what we wanted and asked for a few minutes. She returned to give us our drinks, which she also messed up on bc she couldn't remember what we asked for and we were still unsure what we wanted so we put in our kids order. She came back again and got our order. Then she just disappeared. You couldn't flag her attention one bit. Our drinks were empty, still couldn't flag her down. Finally the food came out but not like we had ordered. Like stated above we put in our children's order since they were hungry and we were still unsure. Yet all the food came out at the same time. Not only that but we asked for our eggs over hard and when they came to us they were over easy, simple mistake that can be fixed right? Nope, the person cooking loudly said, "you can't cook these any harder." Wow, well I'm sorry but they were clearly overeasy and my autistic niece is very particular about not having runny eggs. Our waitress was hardly around still and after that we got the check bc they had also forgot our bacon. No apologies or anything for the mistakes. Definitely won't be back. So rude. Paying over 70 for that and the kids were still hungry.

This place is a tourist trap, but for good reason…read more This huge restaurant spans 3 floors with the basement operating as a buffet option ($8.99 per child and $20+ for adults). I took a look, but was more impressed with the freshness, value and experience on the main floor with menu order options. The restaurant style reminded me of a re-imagined Amish version of Cracker Barrel with handmade oddities for sale. It was surprisingly busy with it being 4:30pm, and slightly annoying to learn the kids could not have the buffet if we were ordering from the menu because there are separate seating arrangements. We chose the restaurant side. Our waitress was bubbly and energetic... extremely thorough while maintaining a friendly neighborly vibe. She commanded the restaurant like it was her vocation and truly seemed pleased to serve her hungry patrons. Once she took our order and brought out our drinks we were delighted with a small homemade loaf of seed bread with real butter, apple butter, or Amish peanut butter (peanuts, honey, and marshmallow fluff mixed together) to top it with. As we enjoyed snacking, the two kids meals, and two adult dinners with soft drinks (they do not serve alcohol) came in around $75 total. The kids meal came with homemade fried (2) drumsticks, fries, drink and a cookie reserved for the end of the meal. Everything is homemade and my picky eater's gobbled it all up! Hubby ordered the fried chicken dinner and was happy enough, but both of us noted that our breast was slightly over cooked by a minute or so (slim margins, but made for a slightly dry and tough tasting breast). He loved his corn accompaniment, noting that it tasted like it was freshly cut from the cob. I opted for the Amish sampler plate and enjoyed the meatloaf, the breading of the fried chicken, the texture of the roast beef (though the seasoning could've improved), and the chicken stuffing with fresh carrots with a slight crunchy texture mixed in. The green bean side was good enough with the bacon, but lacking a crispy texture. The mashed potatoes and beef gravy were just okay. This gargantuan portion also came with a small side salad of leafy greens, a cucumber slice and grape tomato with dressing of your choice. Everything was good... so much food! I felt like I should've toiled on the farm all day to earn such a filling meal. For dessert we bought a homemade strawberry rhubarb pie to take home. Perfectly cooked (no soggy bottom) and wonderful texture and married flavors. The pie was worth it for $18 and if you stop by the visitor center you can get a $1 coupon. Just make sure to bring it in so they can staple it to the receipt for accounting. If we ever come back I may need to try the lemon meringue pie. The peaks were gorgeous and so tall! Pros: good home cooking. Homemade pies. Value prices for what you get. Cons: potential long waits, separate buffet from restaurant and some food lacking seasoning.

The food quality was quite disappointing here. Everything looked so good on the menu and I was so…read morevery hungry, I ordered the sampler platter because I couldn't decide. Kudos to the restaurant for having that option , otherwise I would have had to order multiple meals. Besides the fresh bread and butter - which was amazing- nothing tasted good. The fried chicken was soggy, the meatloaf was mostly bread, the beef had no flavor at all it tasted like it's been rinsed in water. The stuffing was basically just mushy bread with seasoning. The green beens were mushy frozen green beans, the baked apple was overly sugary and the flavor was just strange. The food was 2 stars at best. However, the service was 5 star, excellent. Our waitress was exceptionally attentive and generous with the free bread and helping us with the menu items. It's a very large restaurant and there were only a few us us dining there right after the holidays. There is a large interesting gift shop inside the restaurant and an entire bakery. I wish we would have gotten dessert but given that we were not enjoying our meal, we decided against it.
