I purchased a pound of macadamia nuts for my dad's Christmas gift on December 20, 2017. I have given him a pound of macadamia nuts every year since my parents took a trip to Hawaii in 1979. The lady who served me said the nuts had just come in and were fresh. I didn't even ask the price, just told her I wanted a pound! She put them in a round plastic container that was then slipped into a box. My dad opened his gift on Saturday, December 23rd. On Wednesday, December 27th, my mom sent a message that the nuts were almost rancid and over half the container was still on the counter! My dad LOVES macadamia nuts and normally if he opened the container on a Saturday, they would be gone by Monday! I promptly called the Nut Shoppe and was told the owner would get back to me. Justin called this morning. He told me he tasted the nuts that were in the box I would have received my order from and they were fine. I told him everything my mom had said and asked if it was possible there could have been a bad batch or bad oil or something. He said, "No, it's probably how they were stored." I told him they were in the plastic container provided by his store. He then basically said he was sorry and that was it!! No offer of reimbursement or replacement. I spent $21.58 on inedible nuts!! Do they get a lot of calls that their nuts are almost rancid?? If it weren't so expensive to ship, I would have my mom send them back to the store. I will be going elsewhere to purchase macadamia nuts from now on! Yeesh!! read more
