Adam's cakes and confections are exquisite. Always exactly what you need ,always on your schedule. Never a can't do attitude. His cakes melt in your mouth. Been coming here since Allen's on Main. If you haven't tried his wares, give him a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Great cakes and very interesting baked goods including cookies, fruit cake, pies etc. Very nice owner as well.

Heard this place was awesome. Was thinking there would be cakes on display or cakes to buy but that wasn't the case. It's not a place to buy on the spot :( They have a good word of mouth reputation but upon visiting, the shop and service were quite average. I'd have no reason to go back even though I've 3 parties to buy cake for coming up. read more

Adam's Cake Shop - a man and woman standing in front of a store - Bakeries Near Me - Elkhart, Indiana

Hubs & I had tried the white & chocolate cupcakes with white frosting while at an event. They were tender but didn't fall apart and they weren't moist. The frosting also left a strange aftertaste in our mouths like Crisco or Lard. We were not overly impressed & wouldn't order from here. read more

Best cake in town!! They're quick, accommodating and offer good prices that are more than fair for the quality. We've loved Adam's for years and they will always be our go-to! read more

Adam's Cake Shop is absolutely amazing! Our family has been getting cakes, smiley face cookies, petit fours, and cupcakes! The Girl Scout themed cupcakes are delicious and are a reminder of true goodness. The customer service is top notch! They're very personable and friendly. Even as a Michigander, I make a stop to Adam's every occasion I am in Elkhart. With a mother born and raised in Elkhart, I could not be more grateful to have Adam's as a part of my family's time honored traditions. Thanks Adam's for hitting it out of the park every time! read more

The white cake is bone dry. Dust. Makes you cough it's so dry. C'mon guys. You know this thing is dry. Fix your shit. The Chocolate is really good though. Expensive AF. $70 for a 12" round birthday cake. The white frosting tastes like pure lard. Leaves a veneer in your mouth even coffee can't through. Meh. The cupcakes are pretty good though. Not sure why the cake is this off-putting. read more

From the start this shop isn't your usual cake shop. The bulk of their business comes from custom cakes so there will be nothing available to walk in and buy. Cake variety is lackluster although satisfying for the area. The unicorn cake I purchased for my cousins birthday was done well. Taste was fine, that's it. Nothing to write home about it was just fine. Service and friendliness of the staff leaves much to be desired. The feeling of welcomeness was completely lacking. read more

Really great cake, beautiful decoration, but they gave us the wrong flavor. My husband verified numerous times that it would be a yellow lemon cake, and we got a white vanilla cake. It was very disappointing that they couldn't even get the flavor correct. It was the one thing I was looking forward to for my birthday. read more

Adam's Cake Shop - a three tiered wedding cake - Bakeries Near Me - Elkhart, Indiana

Adam is super friendly and his chocolate frosted, chocolate filled, chocolate cupcakes are nothing short of amazing! (What?! I like chocolate!) We checked them out as we were wedding cake tasting, and were impressed with their accommodating service and personnel! They're on the higher end for wedding cakes, but are able to do exactly what you want (up to 5 tiers, 200+ guests). Adam sat with us to show us pictures, taste flavors, and chat about the best way to match our ideas, needs and budget. We ended up choosing Marci's in South Bend, but were glad we visited Adam's anyways! (We have some friends who chose him and their cake was great!) On a day-to-day, it's a small locally-owned bakery with not much space to hang out inside, but well worth the visit to pick up a little something to satisfy your sweet tooth read more

Adams made our wedding cake it was perfect ,this was 10 years ago . We ordered a birthday cake from him 4 years ago - a chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream frosting - Perfect. This past April (my birthday) I order a carrot with cream cheese frosting. When I pick it up Adams partner told me he bake the carrot cake - it look beautiful. Frosting was candy sweet not like cream cheese and the cake had no flavor and very dry. There was 2 or 3 slivers of carrots in the cake. Very disappointed. Tasted like a cheap box cake. I love carrot cakes and I know there 30+ recipes on how to make this cake. It will be a while before I order another cake from Adams. read more

First thing Monday morning during a snow storm I popped in to see if there was any chance they had an extra cake. They did. They decorated it beautifully in the moment. They were so friendly and gracious. Even though I was probably interrupting their work, they treated me and the cake like the only thing they had to do. Wonderful customer service, and delicious cakes!! read more

After seeing the commericals and driving past on a few occasions my family decided to stop and check out Adams. When we pulled up its a cute small store front but promising. Once we wemt inside we realized there wasnt much to this place. It looks as though most of their business is custom cakes. I inquired about doing an oreo type of cake and was rudely shot down. We bought about $10 worth of overpriced pasteries and cookies and to say that we were unimpressed would be an understatement. Cookies tasted generic and had way too much artificial icing on them. We will definitely not be returning. read more

I was very impressed with the cupcakes I purchased for my wife for Valentine's Day. The frosting is delicious.

I've stopped at this place a few times over the years, and I think they've changed things up to keep the prices low, and it wasn't for the better. I remember asking I. The past if they used real butter in their buttercream before purchase and I received a look like I offended someone. After today's purchase I don't think there was any butter in the buttercream. We purchased a variety, they're safe because they either have vanilla or chocolate cake, and a variety of flavors for the frostings to change them up. We tried a raspberry filled chocolate. Their chocolate isn't a rich deep chocolate but the cake was fluffy and fresh. The raspberry filling tasted like a prepared flavored filling you would get in a cheap jelly donut. The chocolate iced chocolate cupcake didn't have a rich chocolate taste I was looking for. Their peanut butter iced chocolate cupcake was good. We still have a few more to try, but my hopes aren't high. Although we received 8 for about $15, I would rather buy four really good deep chocolate, real butter iced cupcakes. read more

Adam's Cake Shop - a variety of cupcakes - Bakeries Near Me - Elkhart, Indiana

Adam's cake shop catered our wedding cakes. They were all fantastic beyond expectation. You might be thinking, sure if you pick your favorite flavors of course you will love it, but this place takes flavor to another level. In fact, we loved it so much, we've been back the last three years on our anniversary for a cupcake replica of our wedding cake. You will not be disappointed. read more

I literally just ate the BEST cupcake I have ever had and it came from here! It was white cake with strawberry frosting and I was giggling as I ate it because it was THAT good. We always order our son's birthday cakes from Adam's and they never disappoint. The cake is moist, the butter cream frosting delicious, and the decorating is always beautiful! This is a small shop but Adam has a huge heart and always tries to be as accommodating to his clients as possible. I wish there was more of a selection of in-the-case goodies, but with all the time he dedicates to his custom cakes, I can understand why there isn't a plethora of choices. I can't wait til we pick up our next cake! read more

I had butterfly frosted sugar cookies from this shop. Sounds cute and yummy, right? Not only did the decorating looked like it was frosted by a 3 year old, but the cookie tasted like cardboard. Will not buy nor eat from this place again. Not worth it. read more

Just purchased a birthday cake and it was absolutely amazing from the frosting to the price would highly recommend it

Called to order a cake, the person taking orders was unable to communicate the sizes of cakes with me. She laughed the whole time I was ordering a cake making it hard to even speak to her, there was absolutely nothing funny about our conversation. It almost seems as if she were laughing with a coworker and lacking attention to my order. No seriousness. read more

Stopped to get cupcakes for the office. Not impressed. Customer service was not their forte and the lady working the counter was rude. Add to that the cupcakes were dry and the frostings all tasted the same. Do yourself a favor and go to Mini Delights instead. Better cupcakes and nicer people. read more

I used to get the smiley face cookies from Allen's Cake Shop, Strauss' Bakery, and Deboni's Bakery, all here in Elkhart. The taste was amazing, and I loved them, from all 3 places. And then for YEARS, I was deprived, as all of those bakeries have closed. Enter Adam. I am deprived no more. The best cookie in the universe is baked, iced, sold, and promptly consumed here at Adam's Cake Shop. Yes, I include "consume" because I eat it as soon as it gets out the door. Those little buggers never stand a chance.... If you decide to get one, I might suggest trying them on more than one occasion, because sometimes you get one that's just a wee bit too thin, and perhaps that one is overcooked. It tastes okay still, but the texture isn't as great as when they are thicker. THAT is the best kind, and do NOT judge unless you get a soft, thick cookie. Adam and his baker buddy Rolley (spelling isn't my forte...) also make some great zucchini cupcakes, pumpkin cupcakes, brownies, and petit fours; the frosting on those petit fours is awesomely smooth and sugary enough to make a statement. As far as cakes go, they are very popular with the masses, but I'm not a big fan. Mostly, that's because I like the hard textured frosting that cracks as you push your fork into it, and these cakes don't offer that (I'm VERY cake/frosting-picky). As for chocolate cake, the cake itself has great texture, but the flavor is light, and not as bombastic as I'd prefer. I want my cake to say something, not whisper at me. For white cake, it's pretty good, and that's saying something since I hate white cake. I prefer it in petit four form though...that frosting on those things is delicious. I like Adam's decorating too. It's especially great for children's party cakes and fun holiday gatherings. I like the communion and baptism ones too. I briefly looked through the wedding cake album, and they looked nice, but I didn't have the time to really give my full attention (and I'm not getting married so I wasn't judging critically!). The designs overall are pretty frosting heavy, so if you love frosting, you'll be very happy! Overall, if you want a locally made cake, you aren't picky about your desserts, and you just want something sweet, you can't go wrong here. If you're picky like me, you might not be happy, because I don't have a major sweet-tooth and my taste buds need a explosion of flavor in the cake-department. For cookies though, those smiley cookies are TO DIE FOR. If you don't care for holiday themed decor on the cookies, go during regular season (no holidays coming up) for the cheaper smiley variety. They taste the same, no matter what. read more

The best place to get any kind of dessert. Have been going for MANY years and every member of my family always enjoys.

Ordered a cake and sent in a picture. We were told they could do similar. The cake we wanted was accented with pink candy pearls. I would have liked to have been able to pick the cake up at about 7:45 am but was told they do not open until 8:00 am. OK? Upon arriving, I waited in my car until my phone said it was 8:00 am. I walked to the doors and they were locked. Lady at the counter doing things 10 feet away didn't even acknowledge me there. STRIKE TWO A man in the back (Adam?) piddling around, brushing crumbs off a table, moving a pan around...obvious not in the midst of pressing work. They let me stand outside the door for four minutes then she came and unlocked the door. STRIKE THREE No greeting, no smile, unfriendly... STRIKE FOUR She got the cake down and opened it. There were no pink pearls. STRIKE FIVE When I asked about it, she said we don't have any. No one called to tell me they took it upon themselves to modify my order. No apology. STRIKE SIX No thank you after the transaction. STRIKE SEVEN -Trying to carry an 18" X 18" X 10" heavy cake/box neither one even held the door for me. STRIKE EIGHT The lady just walked back behind the counter and ignored my struggle. I drove 2 blocks to Kroger and bought some pink candy pearls for a buck and put them on myself. The cake was good but not exceptional. Was supposed to be a layer of chocolate and a layer of white. Chocolate layer was about half the depth of the white. The taste of the cake didn't make up for the very cold and unaccommodating business practice. No way to run a business especially when there is so much competition.. I don't know what their problem was but I felt anything but welcome. Hospitality verged on rude. I won't give them our business again and as events coordinator for our company I would have liked to establish a business relationship with a company we could work with. I wouldn't recommend them. read more
