Stopped by for a bite and was pleasantly surprised! Grabbed a pulled pork grilled cheese (with bacon!) and some BBQ chips. They also have free samples of butter--cinnamon, honey, strawberry... so good! I'll definitely be back.

Blueberry Lemon Coffee Cake

Canele Cafe is a great eatery located right next to Goshen Farmers Market. Their top seller pastry is the Down Under, which is like a cinnamon roll topped with caramelized sugar. I ordered one with pecans, and it was delicious, however one end was slightly over-caramelized. The pastry had a good crisp yet doughy/chewy consistency. The Blueberry Lemon Coffee Cake had a good balance of blueberry and lemon flavor. I highly recommend the Down Under, just make sure you pick one that is evenly caramelized! Canele Cafe is a good option to grab a pastry bite, and then head on over to the farmers market!

The Down Under is one of the best pastries I've ever had!

The best French pastries I've ever had! Great sandwiches for lunch as well. This is my Saturday morning happy place.

The almond croissant was incredible! I wish I lived closer, I'd come in every day! Had a very good vegetarian sandwich as well.

Whoa, where is this place? That's what I was thinking as I was driving down a residential road and…read moremy GPS told me I was at Steelyard Coffee Co., but all I saw were houses. It turns out that, indeed, this coffee shop is nestled in a neighborhood. But if you look closely for a rusted-looking building that looks completely abandoned, then you will find Steelyard Coffee. It's hidden in plain sight. Once I got inside, I was delighted to see a warm and welcoming space, with a full coffee menu and other beverages, like tea and smoothies. I just wanted a little cup of green tea, so that's what I got, in a to-go cup. It was ready lickety-split. Steelyard has a few things to eat, like some cookies and muffins, as well as pans of baked oatmeal, parfaits, breakfast burritos, quiche and other breakfasty things. There are plenty of places to sit, and the decor is very farmhouse and rustic. It seems like a nice place to sit and work remotely or visit with a friend, but also a place where you can hit it and quit it like I did.

It's tucked inside an older industrial-style building and shares space with a couple of antique-type shops, so it's not somewhere you'd likely just stumble upon. The coffee was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. My wife ordered an iced "Reese in a Cup" and loved it. I went with a hot Cuban Kiss--a mix of cinnamon, vanilla, and white chocolate. It was good, but I'd probably try something different next time. Pricing was very reasonable compared to a lot of coffee spots these days. We also split a cinnamon roll that tasted homemade and was delicious. Overall, a great hidden gem and worth the stop.

My teens especially love Cabin for their frappes, which are priced around $5 a drink but the regular size is huge (think Starbuck's Venti size)! They use Ghiradelli chocolate for their drinks and the better quality is noticed. I'm in love with the Twister Frappe which has both chocolate, white chocolate and caramel in it. Yes - sugar overload! But worth it! The menu has a good variety and they have a small lunch selection. You can get a sandwich and chips for around $7. They have a good assortment of baked goods as well. I've never had their cinnamon rolls, but they look amazing! The atmosphere lives up to it's theme of cowboys and cabin. There is a cozy fireplace with rockers and a couch that is great in the winter, right now it's decorated for Christmas and gives you all the good holiday feels.

I brought a protein shake with me because I wanted to add it to the coffee I was purchasing. I was told I was not allowed to have outside food or drinks. I understand that a business can have policies, but the way this was handled was yet another example of the unnecessarily rude attitude I have experienced there. I wasn't trying to sit there and consume something I bought somewhere else instead of purchasing anything. I was literally there to buy their coffee and customize it with something I already had. At some point, a business needs to realize that customer service matters. Policies can be enforced without treating customers like they're a nuisance for walking through the door. I've given this place multiple chances, and the consistently unpleasant interactions have completely outweighed whatever I like about their coffee. There are plenty of other coffee shops where I can spend my money and actually feel welcome. I won't be back.
