The ambience is okay and the staff is okay. The inside gives the vibes of your 40 year old aunt's house that had an extended stay in a South American country. More of a spectacle than a tasteful celebration. I wouldn't come here again but it's nice there are non-Starbucks cafes in Goshen. read more

Dk anymore. Had bad experience when I was pregnant, sitting at a table by myself waiting for a friend that never showed up. The MeNNo older gent advised me that I should not be sitting in such a place because I was pregnant. Artwork pretty nice. Desserts were good then. Seems funky monkey anymore. People sticking with their own culturely minds alike. Thinking they out of the box. But didn't your people tell you to go to a college to stick with your own people? Like I was told to do. I went here several times when I was in town for work. Great coffee, gluten-free wraps and baked oatmeal. Friendly service. A pleasant place to hang out with friends, to have a meeting, or work for a couple of hours. Love the creative and attractive dividers they put up during COVID. We stopped in for a coffee on Saturday, April 22,2023. We were at Ignition Music, a neighbor to The Electric Brew, for Record Store Day. I would be very surprised if they didn't know about Record Store Day. I would think they they would attempt to be prepared for the extra foot traffic but sadly they were not. We saw a total of three people working. One at the register, one making the drinks, and one preparing food. We waited for 15 minutes in line. We ordered two hot Irish Stout coffees (coffee with chocolate, hazelnut and caramel syrups). It took 10 mins to get those. They were barely warm and not worth the $5+ we paid for each of them. As we waited, they put a food up in the window and called out a name. It was extremely busy and noisy and we barely heard her. We waited a couple of minutes then asked a customer if the order was his. Of course it was but he didn't hear her. Not impressed with the service or the coffee. Can't speak on the food since we didn't eat anything. Next time we will check out Main Street Roasters. read more

You know how if you ordered bacon and they cut the strips too thick and it is essentially ham, it isn't bacon? Like, I like ham, but I really bacon. So anyways I had a great experience at the electric brew. The service was friendly and welcoming. The cookie cake and coffee we received tasted splendid. However, back to bacon. I ordered a flat white. A flat white is half the amount of milk than a latte. Which is why I speak of bacon. I love milk and lattes, and I also love ham, but in this moment I wanted bacon not ham. Less is more with a flat white, just like bacon. Unless I wanted a lot of bacon which then I would have said I want a lot of bacon not ham. So it's like if I wanted a lot of flat whites I would have orders multiple flat whites not a latte. So y'a know thanks for everything! My latte tasted great, but I ordered bacon. The Brew is a popular local spot in Goshen and one of my favorites to visit over the lunch hour or to sit for hours and work. They offer free wifi for those looking to do just that, and comfy seating as well. It has a hipster/vintage feel to it with ample seating, a coffee bar and a downtown location. Additionally, there is a meeting room you can rent for meetings/parties. My favorites are the smoothies, custom lattes, baked oatmeal and their paninis. Almost all their smoothies are dairy free and they have a large selection of syrup flavors in both regular and sugar-free. Non-dairy options such as almond milk is on hand as well. I highly suggest trying their Cambrick, it's a earl-gray tea with steam milk and vanilla - it's one of my favorite pick-me-ups! You can get a combo lunch for around $7 that includes two choices of a sandwich, salad, and/or soup. They come with an option of pretzels, blue tortilla chips, or their homemade bread. As a baker, I approve of their baked goods selection - from the baked oatmeal, to the cakes, cookies and scones. My personal favorite is the gluten-free brownies. The portions are generous and the prices affordable, my kid's favorite is the gigantic cinnamon rolls that run under $3 and can be shared. Staff is always friendly and attentive. This place gets 4 stars based solely on the ambiance. It's really cool inside there! Plus it's pretty awesome they have a free bike pump outside for all the bicyclists around Goshen. As far as the coffee I'll just say this, Know what you're ordering. Wanting to try something new, healthy, outside your box is great and all, but at $4-$8 it's probably best to get your usual. Asking the barista was no help that day. She didn't drink coffee!- she told me. I had to laugh at that. Maybe she was new, or this was her first job (it was summer and she looked pretty young), maybe her summer job as she continues high school, but if I owned any kind of coffee shop or restaurant I'd make it mandatory for my employees to try the products they're serving. A WONDERFUL COFFEE OASIS smack in the middle of a sleepy Mennonite college town. It's perfect. Choices are abundant as are the barista attitudes to gladly make whatever you want anyway you want it! Their "double dirty coconut milk chai" is almost three bucks cheaper than Starbucks (of which there are none in town), and I swear it tastes better (probably psychological but who cares - perception is reality). Everyone in Goshen loves this place and they're rightfully proud of it. I just feel very welcome here and would never visit town without stopping in. You should too. read more

This place is the real deal. First things first: the coffee. A lot of places think they can roast coffee, very few pull it off, these guys have been rocking it consistently for a long time. They don't burn everything to a blackened crisp, rather they choose the right roast for the right been and have crafted some excellent blends and single source brews. For the drinks: my favorite is the Cafe Cubano without milk. Espresso + a sugar cube. It's reminiscent of the sweetened coffee very popular in Cuba (duh) and Brazil. Their regular brews are excellent, and the lattes my wife orders are balanced and consistently great. The atmosphere is awesome. The new building is large. It's easy to hold a conversation even when it's busy. The outside patio is really nice on a summer evening. I always stop in when I visit Michiana and you should too. read more

A friend and I met up around 3 on a Sunday. We waited in a very long line for our drinks. There were literally 2 people working- one taking orders and one making them. My drink, a vanilla cappuccino, was okay. I couldn't really taste the vanilla. My friend however, ordered a hot jasmine and peach tea. I took a sip & we both agreed that there were extremely heavy notes of jasmine. The atmosphere is trendy, vintage hints in the furniture & decor. Open floor plan & lots of bright, natural light. The specialty drinks are true coffee shop expectation; good. Of course I'm a serious coffee drinker owning my own espresso machine and coffee bar so my expectations are extremely high. read more

Apparently I was in the minority on my last review when the Brew was on Main Street, so today was a chance to see the new location and see if some of my previous concerns were still true. In short, some things are better. The newer space is open and the service is friendly. There is still a desire for 2nd hand furniture to give that retro/cool/hipster feel and so things still wobble a bit. So, I've moved my review to four stars because it is a local coffee shop and does fulfill the ideals for such an establishment. I can't give it another star because of my one concern--that I might just be in the minority on: no real creamer. Or, another way to put it: the presence of those communion cup sized creamer things. Those are the things you use at the office, not what you serve to people who like their coffee. Almost all coffee shops have a container for 1/2 and 1/2 (creamer), skim milk, etc. and, aside for some ethical aversion to those type of containers, this issue seems to be an easy fix. Also, I didn't mark it down in this review, due to the sketchiness of technology, but I could not connect to the wi-fi without asking for assistance. This is sometimes a demand of coffee shop lingering folk, and I couldn't spot any obvious signage instructing us on usage of free wi-fi. So, now I would possibly meet someone here for coffee and a chat. And, the baked goods are pretty good. read more

Electric Brew is hands down the best coffee shop in the area. Their Chai Tea Lattes are delicious but I typically go for their Midwest Dark. They always have freshly baked goodies and the cinnamon rolls are at the top of my favorites list. It's also a great place to curl up with a book, catch up with a friend, or get some work done. read more
