I look forward every year to visit Shipshewana. I always stop into this particular store. If you…read morehave not been to Shipshewana during the Christmas Holidays then you are truly missing out on a wonderful experience. The store is decorated through out and done just beautifully. A blend of Amish/Mennonite decorations, dolls, quilts, and other beautiful gifts made locally. Also various Christmas decorations like my favorite, the Possible Dream Santa's. I have been collecting the Santa's since my mother got me started long sgo. I will often pick a few up during my summer trip at half price. They will also ship them home for a small price so I don't have to worry about trying to make room on the plane. The place is ran by locals to the community and you can't ask for better people. Again, if you have not been to Shipshewana during the holidays then you are really missing out. Make it a family experience and have an old fashion country Christmas. They have 2 inns which are like stepping back in time but yet they have all your English World requirements. They won't take your cell phone away, or make you go with out your TV. I would suggest you visit one of the local stores and buy everyone an Amish outfit to wear Christmas Day. Gather your family around the fireplace in the Inn or one of the beautiful Christmas trees. Some great opportunities for some awesome pictures. Take a ride around town to see the Christmas lights and decorations. If you're lucky you can experience a Indiana/Michigan white Christmas.

The buildings were once barns and homestead housing of an old farm. They stand in a semi-circle which frames a makeshift courtyard hold art that relates to its original purpose. This configuration makes a natural connection between the shops, a traffic flow guiding visitors in the front of one shop and out the side where the next awaits. Out front was a horse and buggy. It was a large horse. I don't know whether this was part of the places decoration or an Amish visitor or employee. For the shopper that likes old-timey styles this place will be loved. Of most impressive are expensive but craftily handmade quilts sold in the last building. I am not into Amish country fashion, but the tour of these shops reveal its quality to me anyways. A nice place to visit.

No better quality or value!…read more We live in the Detroit area but have family in northern Indiana. We have had several custom pieces of furniture made for our home by the talented folks at the pumpkin patch. The quality and durability and, of course, the beauty of these pieces are unmatched. We would pay twice as much to have anything custom made by a Carpender in the Detroit area. (I am not exaggerating. We had something designed and priced out.) The similar pieces we found in retail stores were either more expensive than prices at the pumpkin patch or were neither as beautiful nor as well-made. If we lived closer, we would get more of our furniture from the pumpkin patch. The desk/dresser made for our son will last him a lifetime and hopefully become a family heirloom. Highly, highly recommend!

I had previously asked a coworker I work with whom plays the game to finger through them and give me some advice. He let me know that while I had several rarer cards, that the bulk of them were "common manna" and not worth much. After the middle-aged man with a ponytail went through them, he offered me a measly $10, saying I didn't have anything special & that the cards I did have would sit for months on end prior to being purchased. I accepted their offer and went on my way. Fast forward to this morning, I again spoke to my coworker & let him know what I had gotten out of the "deal". He was absolutely shocked to hear they had low-balled me like they did, and he indicated to me that the Secret Door would certainly be making a killing off of my collection. I should have known better, because they offered my young daughter two free packs of MtG cards before we left. Looking back, I feel that was their was of feeling better about themselves for ripping me off. Shame shame shame. Should've just sold on Ebay!!
