Went in with a dash board light on. The ant-lock break one. Got told by a older heavy set man that it would be $1,250 to fix "Unless I find something really wrong". It was the brake pedal switch. A $15 part that took me all of twenty minutes to change with a screwdriver in the parts house parking lot. If you look old and clueless they will try to take advantage of you. Leal's wanted $55 per tire to install two tires I bought on Amazon. Olmeda's charged only $15 per. That's an $80 savings (or $75 after the $5 I tipped). They didn't check the air pressure, and both tires were several pounds too low. But for $15 per tire installed, I'm certainly happy to check the air pressure myself. Just mentioning this because you might want to make sure your tires have the right pressure after installation here. read more

I am so happy to have tried out Olmeda Tire Services today. I needed someone to patch one tire and originally I went to one of the big corporate tire shops. They turned me away because they didn't have time. Went to another one, also turned away (even though it was 1 hour from closing). I looked on Yelp, and I am so glad I did. Granted, Olmeda doesn't have an impressive locale and it's much more of a family-owned business, but that's exactly what makes them such a great establishment. The men at Olmeda were so much more personable and able to accommodate the situation. They work fast and efficiently, and I didn't feel like they were trying to up-charge me for services I didn't need. They were honest about the state of my tires, and gave me recommendations for what I want to do next. I was happy to tip the guy who worked on my tires because he had done such a great job. Olmeda's moved from where they used to be - North Lamar at St. John's. I've never had anything but good experiences there, so I drove further north to the current location. They had the two tires I needed and they looked like new. I wasn't sure about the price. In the past it had been around $45 per tire (used, plus the disposal fee, and they charge a little extra for credit cards), so I didn't ask. I couldn't get cash because the strip on my debit was worn out and they don't take AmEx. So it cost me $100 for 2 tires. They are friendly and super fast. Why don't I go to Discount Tire? They try to sell me extra and take an hour at a minimum, even for something simple. I've had issues with WalMart when it comes to defective NEW tires, plus they just aren't pleasant or fast. So my advice is, if you want to put money in the pocket of good, local people, go to Olmeda (but bring cash). read more

You get fast, fair, evenly priced service often done by one of the Olmedas themselves. They show you what's wrong and tell you your options and you're out of there in 15 minutes. Here's what you don't get: a fancy showroom with crappy coffee, non-sensical double speak from a "service advisor," and endless waiting while the staff drinks the same crappy coffee instead of working on your car. Here's what you do get: fast service, fair prices, honest talk and a business where the owner is likely to be doing the work himself. Love this place. They do not try to up sell you on anything. I brought my wife car here to get one tire change and it still last three years later in great condition. I brought my car in for all four tires change but the gentleman checked and said i only needed two. The other two still looks good. I went there to get my tire fixed because discount tires failed to write my phone number properly and made me wait 4hrs in order to tell me they cannot fix my tire. It has a tiny air leak and it's close to side but it is not on the side. Olmeda's Tire & Auto - Juan was pleasant to work with and help me patch my tire like new. Very professional. Also Walmart's Auto & Tire department is a joke. WOW, That sums up my experience here. I desperately needed a replacement, as my doughnut was beginning to feign hopeless. I called all over looking for a specific size used tire, and pricing them. After like 30 minutes of calling other shops and either them not having the tire size, not selling used tires, or not answering the phone, I lucked out and called Olmeda. Friendly, fast, and a frugal choice. This is the way to live. 45 bucks installed for a new (used) P235/45 R17 tire, INSTALLED. What? YEP While I was there it was noted that my donut was in terrible disrepair and it was recommended that I go to Jack's tires on 7th to get a new donut. I was told to mention that big body sent me =P update! tire didn't last 2 days, took it back and had to pay 15$ for a patch a 'small nail' put in the tire (a nail which I never saw) #fishy Update!! I've been hearing a lot about Leals, but I live near Pflugerville and I'm not driving all that way. I've used Olmeda's Tire Service a few times at the suggestion of my brother-in-law after making the mistake of walking into a Good Year and having them try to sell me tires up the ass. Well, I don't like being hassled. I just needed a patch, I knew my tires were old and worn, but I have my own procedure for acquiring new tires and I really just needed to buy some time and a patch for my tire because I have a penchant for hitting screws. Olmeda's isn't too big on talk, they also didn't seem to mind that I brought a dog there. $15 for a tire patch, about 15 minute wait time. I'm happy. I saw some signs for credit cards, but this is one of the places I save cash for along with the Chinese bakeries. read more

I've had my new car for about a week and half when, to my dismay, I see a nice shiny piece of hell spawn metal in my tire! After I calmed down, ate a jelly donut, and got back to my zen place I went to my go to guys for tire repairs. Now, this place doesn't look so nice, they only take cash, and the ability to speak some Spanish is definitely a plus. But, they always tell you straight up if your tire can be patched or not. I've probably had 10 tires (fml) patched there, and they've never gone out from the patch failing. Also, a patch only costs five dollars which is about 15 to 20 less than most places. read more

I needed a flat fixed. Having sold tires and batteries in college, I know that one irreparable tire could lead to a sale of up to four tires (my size isn't cheap). I arrived and the gentleman was sitting on the far side of the office. He did not bother to get out of his chair, so we both had to raise our voices. I asked him if I could get a flat fixed; he babbled something about his tire guy so I asked him again and he babbled again. I asked "does this mean 'no'," which he confirmed, so I left with a bad tire. I have *never* been told that a business does *not* want my money. If he can't pull his tire tech for 15 minutes (I was there three hours before closing) and possibly secure a larger sale, then I'm at a loss for words. I got a screw in my truck's tire and needed a patch. I usually steer clear of used tire places, but I decided to give these guys a try based on the positive Yelp reviews and the logic that they probably do enough patches to be experienced/skillful at it. I showed up midway through a Saturday morning and was surprised to see a line. (This was a good sign, considering I drove past two other used tire places on the way there and saw no customers at either one.) They work on two cars at a time, so the line moves quickly. It's $15 for a patch, and it's a legit plug patch, where they both plug the hole in the tire and patch the air leak from the inside. They have a big trough of soapy water that they can dunk your tire in to find the leak if it's not as obvious as mine was. I watched as they quickly and skillfully dismounted the tire, put it on a fixture, removed the offending screw, installed the plug and patch, and remounted the tire. They then took the spare off my truck and reinstalled the wheel, and I was good to go. Including waiting in line, it took less than half an hour. I also saw a guy bring them a riding lawnmower tire with a staple in it, and they fixed that up as well. Recommended! read more

We frantically drove around looking for a place that would take us quick. Every place we went to gave us hour-long wait times except for this place. The guys here moved with extreme urgency when we told them of our rush while still doing an impeccable job. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes and the price was outstanding. These guys have been down the street from my house for three years, but I've never had a reason to go to them for used tires or tire repairs. This week, however, I noticed a slow leak on one of my rear tires and sighed as I considered the possibilities of forking out big cash like I have in the past for new tires or tire repairs. I drove up to the front and was approached by "Ricky" (or at least, that's what the nametag on his shirt would have me believe). He asked what was wrong and I explained to him the problem and that I would like it fixed. With minimal preamble, he had my truck jacked up, removed the tire in less than sixty seconds, and rolled it into the store where he proceeded to cover it in liquid to find the leak. He then positioned it on the bead-breaking machine and took it off the rim quickly and professionally, with nary a scratch on the metal. He then put the tire on another stand and dug out a tiny piece of metal/shrapnel that had caused the problem and handed it to me with a knowing grin. He then pulled out a dremel and started scoring the rubber on the tire's interior to apply the patch. This all was accomplished in less than another three to five minutes, and it was back to the bead machine to put the tire back on and fill it up with air. Boom. Doneski. Things must have changed since Alberto N. wrote his review in 2009, because they DEFINITELY accept credit cards now, and the patch job is $15.00, not $5.00. All in all, excellent work, I was very satisfied with the quality and quick execution. I wasn't in there for more than ten or fifteen minutes, and there was a car ahead of me. Recommend. These guys have got it going on if you're TIRED of looking for other places. read more
