At first, we love the hotel. Two years ago, we tried Olivine and the food was good. We had a lunch today (December 31st). What happened ? Food is not good anymore. We had a pizza pepperoni and it was too much sauce for a pizza. It is difficult to make bad pizzas. The mahi-mahi sandwich had a green sauce which was not good. The sauce of the salad was not good. Best thing was the chicken tenders for the kids. Did you change the chef ? If you compare with Ferraro's or Monkeypod, it is NIght or day. The good news, the food at the pool and at botero is very good. Olivine is expensive but I don't mind to pay if the food is good. Please, You need to make some changes. Spent a night in Maui and dined at Olivine at ~7:15pm for dinner. For an Italian place, their Hamachi was so fresh and delicious (I mean c'mon, we're in Maui-- of course it was fresh!) We shared the Kona Lobster Pizza and Brussel Sprouts. I loved the chunky lobster bits and thinly sliced garlic all around the pizza. And the Brussels were nicely crisp and had a hint of sweetness. Just as we thought our stomachs were full, our server, Christine, recommended the Tiramisu. Sure enough, we gobbled that up, too! --Mahalo Christine! If you ever make it to Mauna Kea, Olivine is a must-visit. This place has everything going for it: incredible food, attentive and courteous wait staff, and a view that almost steals the show. The dishes are outstanding -- from the flavors to the presentation, everything feels carefully considered and high quality. But beyond the food, what really makes the experience memorable is the service. The wait staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and relaxed, which adds a lot to the overall vibe. Wine bottle prices raise an eyebrow with *3 digits* being pretty common. But? Glad they offer better wines, because you have to splurge once in awhile. But huzzah! $18 for a nice pinot grigio is within reach. Oysters sounded amazing but at $36 for a half dozen, eeek! pass. Service was pleasant, even after I changed my drink order, but not really stellar. He did his job, all good. But no suggestions or check-in after food was dropped. For a restaurant inside the Grand Wailea, Olivine was a big disappointment. Service was the biggest letdown. One of the servers was outright rude to us for no reason, and the rest of the staff seemed disengaged -- not what you'd expect at a resort of this caliber. The food didn't redeem it either. The oysters were mediocre at best, the olive salad was poorly executed, and my sandwich/salad combo was flat-out bad. Nothing felt fresh or thoughtfully prepared. Between the subpar service and lackluster food, this was not the experience we expected. Will not return. read more

The hotel gave us a gift card to use at the restaurant during our stay. We sat by a window and had great views of the pool/ocean. The staff were super friendly. We got the panzanella caesar salad which was nothing special. The margherita pizza which was yummy. Probably the worst meal I've had in a LONG time , worse than macaroni grill . The Italian salad was completely wilted , the fish I ordered looked like it was on a bed of tomato soup vegetables and the olive cake was dryer than 2 week old wonder bread , crumbled apart like feta cheese . This place needs a major upgrade- the price people pay to stay and eat here the food should at least be edible. & the service didn't make up for it either . I am trying my best to stay away from meat, so I ordered the amazingly delicious Crispy Squash Blossoms. I would describe them as a beautifully delicate, crisp, aromatic dish with burrata, macadamia nut pesto, local hot honey, espelette pepper, and honeycomb. This appetizer was my favorite! I also enjoyed the Mushroom Cauliflower Bolognese, a richly savory, hearty, and wonderfully comforting plate of handmade orecchiette with cashew ricotta and parsley as my main course. I always appreciate and enjoy fresh pasta and veggies. We ordered a salad, two pizzas, a fish entree, a pasta, and a dessert. It doesn't sound like tons, but it was a lot of food. The food here is delicious. My bf and I utilized both their pool services and went here for dinner and honestly, their pool menu was better than their dinner in my opinion. During our stay, we tried the charcoal pizza, margarita, and squash blossom pizza and honestly, some of the best pizza I've had. Their dough is incredible. Their hummus was also delicious and one of my favorite snacks from the island AND very generous with their portion. It was served with pizza bread and the hummus was h the perfect creamy texture. Dinner was just okay. I got the wagyu bolognese and couldn't eat it because it was so salty but the server did a great job handing it and letting me order something else instead (another pizza of course). We ate lunch here twice. And because the Fresh Catch Sandwich was SO ONO... we got it both times. The fish was fresh and tender. The bun was melt in your mouth. The chips were super light and crisp with the perfect amount of salt. We sat at the bar both times too since it was easy, open and had TVs showing Football. Both of us (my husband and I) enjoy watching football so it made the most sense for us to sit at the bar. Plus, I like watching the Bartenders in action. Service is very good. The bartenders work as a team and are good at making sure everyone at the bar is take care of while they manage the dining room drink tickets. The kitchen runs your food out directly to you at the bar. We really didn't have to wait long either time for our food. The dining room area has large open windows so the entire restaurant feels like it's outside, but not. The bar is pretty spacious... I think it seats like 20 or so. Sat next to the window, which overlooks several pools and outdoor areas. We started off with the caprese salad and for me an old fashioned drink. The salad was interesting - burrata on the bottom of the plate with lettuce on top. Good taste but a little clumsy in terms of execution. For the table we shared a charcoal activated margherita pizza. The charcoal meant that the dough was black which looked odd, but tasted exactly like a regular pizza. The toppings were good and it was easy to eat. For an entree, I ordered the cacio e pepe - which came with a thicker noodles and the sauce was very creamy along with the peppery tones. Olivine offers authentic Italian cuisine right in the heart of Maui, and it's nothing short of phenomenal. We were staying at a nearby hotel and were truly impressed by the experience. While the pricing might initially seem a bit high, the generous portions more than justify it. I was so stuffed that I had to take some home! We enjoyed multiple courses, starting with a charcuterie board that paired beautifully with our wine. It featured a variety of meats, including tuna and prosciutto, alongside delicious sautéed pepper jams and goat cheese--truly impressive for three people. My sister ordered the lobster pizza, and I had to try it. The crust was perfectly charred and had a fantastic sourdough texture--absolutely delicious. We also shared the mushroom and truffle pasta, which featured scratch-made noodles cooked to perfect al dente. It was an incredible dish! The traditional spaghetti with shrimp was a highlight as well--the shrimp were enormous and full of flavor. I wished we had added shrimp to the other pasta too! We enjoyed a bottle of Chardonnay from Santa Cruz, and it complemented our dishes perfectly. The staff were amazing, attentive, and genuinely interested in our meal experience. Overall, everything was incredibly delicious, and we couldn't finish our last course because we were so satisfied from sharing all the wonderful dishes. I was very disappointed yesterday by the service. The pizza looked very good, unfortunately I didn't get to try any of the food because we sat at the table for 15 minutes without being acknowledged by a server at all. The busser was very prompt and brought water as soon as we got sat, but a server never came. I'm a server at a VERY busy wailea restaurant, so I'm super forgiving and understanding about poor service when the restaurant is busy. But it just wasn't, there were 5 tables sat in the entire restaurant and I saw servers just hanging around. Someone could have at least touched the table and told us they'll be with us in a minute. No one seemed to care as we left, we told a server and she replied with "sorry, I'll let the hostess know". Not sure if we got this treatment because we were locals and not staying at the hotel or what. Super disappointing, won't ever be back. read more

We were starving after a 7 hour flight so upon the recommendation of a staff person we walked into Olivine for lunch while we waited for our room to be ready. Strike 1) the front associate barely spoke or understood English. As a native speaker, this was bizarre to me. Strike 2) the food arrived, but not all of it, and not correct. Good Italian restaurant overlooking the pool at the Grand Wailea. This was our first time visiting since they reimagined the restaurant. It was good - Hawaii meets Italy - though TBH, I probably preferred the old menu. I made a reservation on OpenTable and requested outdoor seating. When we arrived at the restaurant, they tried to seat us inside and I objected. Although they had some open windows, it wasn't all open to the outside the way it was previously. We had to wait another 5 minutes to be seated at an outdoor table. Portions were generous. I ordered the seared ahi salad and couldn't finish it all. The salad was very fresh and had quality ingredients, but it was a little too olive-forward for me. My husband ordered the chilled Kona prawns, which we thought would be a very small dish since it only came with 4 prawns, but it was fairly decently sized. My daughter ordered the winning dish - the Olivine charcuterie board. Imo, this was the best marriage of Italian cuisine and local foods. The rosemary toast with the ricotta and starfruit mostarda was out of this world. All in all, a nice dining option. No printed kids menu but your server can offer more kid-friendly options. WOW! What a disappointment! We had reservations tonight at 7:30 , dinner for two. The host asked if we would like to wait at bar til our table was ready, she mentioned the party was taking a very long time at their table. We said that would be fine. When our table was ready , approx 15 min wait . The hostess came up to us and said " They finally left , they took so long at their table but your table is over there" She pointed yo the table then walked away, she didn't walk us to the table just pointed at it. We thought that was different but we walked ourselves to our table and sat down. The waitress came, took our list of allergies and did a great job getting all the important information to us regarding what I could eat and how they could modify the meal. She was really a seasoned waitress and was extremely accommodating with us. We placed our order , our meal took awhile to get to us. I ordered 58.00 plate of Salmon with broccoli and small potatoes they substituted out for the Polenta. The meal was shockingly small the Salmon was half the size of a McDonald's fish fillet. We could not believe how the plate looked, I figured it must taste great . The fish was saturated in an oil , so heavy with no flavor whatsoever. When I waitress came by and politely asked how was everything, we did ask her about the Salmon and she said she had not seen a piece so incredibly small. She said she would talk to the back and see if she could have them make a normal size . By this time it was 9 pm , I was pretty frustrated, my husband had already eaten his meal . I did ask to speak to the manager about how disappointing the meal was and length of time it took. The waitress did take the meal off our ticket, since we had waited so long and she could tell we were very patient throughout the process. As far as our waitress goes she was great ! The Olive Garden at the Dayton Mall (Dayton Ohio) has far superior chicken Piccata and bread. This was as if the chef designed a menu and left the country and let children into the kitchen who had no idea what to do. I had giant uncut lumps of mushrooms that did not belong in the flavor profile, a huge chunk of what looked like KFC on top of a weakly flavored lemon sauce and a pile of unseasoned and undressed arugula as a salad. It was a disaster. It literally tasted disgusting. The hostess had the WORST attitude (June 21 2025, 6pm service) acted like she could barely stand the sight of us and put us at a table where the sun was blasting us in the face despite the entire other half the restaurant was in cool shade- and the place was empty on a Saturday night so that should be enough to convince you that you'd be better off going literally anyplace else. My daughter and I went here for lunch. She she's getting married next week and we have done a day at the spa. We are local residence. We were sat at the table and we were served water promptly but then after that, nothing no server no hello nothing we sat there for over 20 minutes with no acknowledgment for anybody finally, I just got up and left. I approached a server on our way out to let her know that we had not been acknowledged in over 20 minutes and we were leaving. She said OK she'll let the host us know that our table is now available. No apology for the horrible service for being ignored now that I've read the reviews. I see that this is their standard service. They don't really seem to care about their customers. I wish I could tell you how the food was, but I never got a chance to eat there. In my opinion I would avoid this restaurant at all cost. We went to have dinner with our friends. We are locals living in Wailea and love to try new restaurants. We ordered dungarees crab dip as an appetizer and crab was not fresh. Although the salad with italian dressing was perfect. Our friends had the wagyu bolognese spaghetti which was delicious. My spaghetti a la vongle was disappointing due to the fact the butter sauce was runny and had only 4 small clams and the rest of the clams apparently came from a can! It's definitely not worth the price the charge. The portions are large.
