Excellent service! Food is delicious . Best coffee ever

Update: Returned Saturday evening for the first time since ownership change. It was a "good" experience again but still not quite 4 stars. We were seated at a bare table with just a cloth, no plates/utensils/glasses. Not a big deal but for a nice place it's a little odd. Hummus app was very good but it should be automatically served free of charge. $6 is a rip-off. Every Greek restaurant gives pita with some type of dip when you sit down. It's just standard. Mexican restaurants give chips and salsa, Chinese restaurants give noodles with duck sauce and mustard, Italian restaurants give bread with olive oil, etc. Rafina (Greek) right up the block does pita with a very delicious spread. The octopus app for $15 is WAY too skimpy of a portion size. It was good but for $15 I'd expected almost double the order. The mix grilled meat platter for two was very good and an incredible value. At $39 we were stuffed and also had a lot of leftovers. It also includes two sides though while the fries are nicely crisped, charging $2 for feta to top it is once again a rip-off and should be included. From a service standpoint, our server was nice but I was surprised no one checked on us - not even once - while we were eating. We were given the entree and then not approached until it was cleared off the table and asked if we'd like dessert. The 5% discount for wine and dessert on Yelp is a very weak offer. 5% is a joke on two high-margin menu items. If you're going to offer a discount, at least do 5% on the entire bill or 10% on dessert and wine. Even those offers are weak but it's something. I'll be back and hope to see some improvements in these areas to up the review. I like this place. Just needs a little work. Original: Ate here a few times. The rundown: Beautiful restaurant. Very nice people, especially Marco. Good food. But no moussaka or avgolemono! A bit expensive as well. Got an emailed coupon. No t&c/fine print so called for details. Told can use coupon on ANY order. Few days later called and asked to call back in two minutes. Odd but ok. Arrived and told can't use use coupon - must print (not show phone) and only for dinner (not lunch). It does not say anything about either. Just $5 off $15. Was very hesitant but ultimately honored coupon. Salmon is delicious read more

Disappointing. Got there at 5:30. Outside tables empty but they claim all reserved with reservations so we sat inside empty restaurant and went from bad to worse. Ordered basic items in empty restaurant and waited over 45 minutes. Took one bit of shrimp souvlaki- and very bad. Waitress took it back and did not care at all that we didn't like it or eat any of it. Would've been nice for the manager or someone to come over and maybe offer us something. After all we waited 45 minutes for the bad food. Lemon potatoes and lamb souvlaki below average. Tastes better at Gyromania for half the price. Their $10 salads come in a tiny bowl. The menu has some handwritten note on the bottom it says the prices might not be correct, so we should ask our waitress. Makes no sense. If the prices of an change they should tell us and even when we asked the waitress didn't know or care. We shouldn't have to guess. In summary, pretty much no one like their food. The staff didn't seem to care at all. Of course they charged us for the entire shrimp Slovaki that nobody ate. So the combination of bad food, poor service with no customer service will lead us to not go back there again. By The way, after sitting inside the restaurant for close to an hour and a half, the outside was still empty. read more

I was here for dinner on Saturday night. So excited!! This neighborhood needs a local place to go to and have a great meal and great service and that is exactly what you get. Highly recommend it! read more

This is by far my new favorite Greek restaurant. The food here is absolutely amazing. The fried calamari, the fries with feta, and spicy cheese spread are just the best appetizers in my opinion and the pork and chicken souvlakis in a gyro are to die for. Definitely going to come here more often! read more

Fantastic! Delicious food (branzino, lamb meatballs, lemon potatoes, baklava cheesecake). Excellent service from the manager and entire staff. Beautiful decor. Highly recommend! read more

Went to dinner at The Oliv Pit for the first time last night. I was visiting my mom who lives around the corner and I had a serious craving for good hummus and grilled chicken. When we arrived, I noticed the decor was cozy. I liked it. But, I soon came to realize that my affinity for this restaurant ended there. First, I never saw hummus on the menu...They have it, it's just not listed? Also, they were OUT of the unlisted hummus at 8:30 on a Saturday. What Greek restaurant runs out of hummus??? Also, they ran out of spinach pie and various other items. Not a good start. So, I ordered the eggplant spread to start instead. It was decently flavored but It looked NOTHING like the photos I've seen here on yelp. It was missing the peppers listed on the menu and the eggplant was in HUGE CHUNKS. Not really a spread by any stretch of the imagination. Plus, the amount of pita given with it was pretty sparse. My mother ordered a gyro and I ordered a chicken souvlaki pita. It comes stuffed with fries (which I thought was super weird and the fries were so over cooked with not a shred of seasoning on them) so, I told them to please put those on the side. When everything arrived, I noticed that there were huge pieces of raw red onion (which I like the onion, just not eating a 1/4 of the onion at a time) and huge chunks of iceberg lettuce. It was almost like the cook just didn't care and was too lazy to put together a proper sandwich with appropriately cut accoutrements... So, I took out the offensive amounts of red onion and lettuce chunks and tried the pita. So bland and such a weird texture for chicken. I went inside to get s&p (there is none on the tables) to see if that would improve upon the taste. No such luck. I just couldn't get past the texture. I opened up the pita and whatever I was eating did not look like the typical grilled chicken that I normally receive EVERY OTHER TIME I have eaten this dish somewhere else. It looked like separated meat smooshed together and grilled. It was so rubbery. Ick. I couldn't eat any more. Plus, the gyro my mom ordered, wasn't a gyro-they made it with chicken, too. I then found out that they use chicken thighs. So not cool. Not fond of this place at all. They did take off the two sandwiches, though-but that's only bc we had a really nice waitress. Otherwise, who knows! I did order the side of mushrooms, which were the best thing I ate there, but based off the pic on yelp, it looks like I got way less mushrooms and the cheap ones instead of the wild ones in the picture... ugh so very disappointing and a total let down. The food was not good at all. And overpriced for what you get to boot. read more

HELLA RUDE. I walked in and they turned me back around. Smh I just wanted some Greek yogurt.

We visited this place 2 years ago and both the service and the food were disappointing!!! We heard that it is under a new management so we wanted to try again but still very disappointing!!!! We waited a while and had to ask to get a waitress and waited to get food about 45 minutes, had to ask for silverware.....she said it is busy:(( restaurant was not even full therefore, it was not a good idea to try this place again. read more

Don't know where to start. So, I'll keep it simple. Menu is very limited. Over priced in relation to portion size. Nothing special in comparison to other Mediterranean restaurants. Just another pita joint... read more

We have been to this restaurant many times in the past and are so disappointed with the change in ownership/management. We called last week to make a reservation for Dec 24th. I specifically asked if they were having a special menu for Christmas or if it would be their regular menu. We were told that it would be their regular menu. Upon arriving at the restaurant I saw a sign on the window announcing their prix fixe menu! They then told me that they decided that same day that they would have a special menu for 40$ per person. I told them we had no interest in that and that I had confirmed prior to coming that the regular menu was in effect. When we said we were leaving they relented and agreed to Let us order from the regular menu. What a disaster!! One person in our party ordered the lamb chops. 5 tiny little chops for 32$ but at least they were tasty. The rest of us ordered the grilled platter for 4 people. When it finally arrived (after the other person was already finished eating), the platter was half the size that it used to be. They told us that they decided to keep the prices the same but cut the portion size considerably. On top of that, the chicken breass were thin and dry, the steak was either fat or bone, the meat balls were overcooked and the gyro meat tasted store-bought. And the entire plate was ice cold. The skewer of vegetables was no longer on the platter, they brought some mushy, oily tasteless vegetables after we expressed our displeasure. The pita bread was awful as were the sauces. They ended up bringing us some more meat but the whole meal was awful. DO NOT GO HERE read more

Very fresh ingredients. Relaxed atmosphere with good service. A nice typical home spun restaurant, the kind that seem to pop up in strip malls throughout South Florida. read more

Glad to see this restaurant packed every day. I work in the plaza and see the traffic at Oliv Pit. It is great to have a chic, modestly priced, CLEAN restaurant in the neighborhood, where food is delicious and cooked in front of you, where the staff welcomes everyone like family, and deserts are home made, not frozen. If you are reading this review and did not have a pleasant experience your first time, try again, they are new here..... if you have never been to the Oliv Pit, I encourage you to try....you will feel like you are sitting in Athens by the Acropolis, eating authentic Greek food. read more

I can't belive we have this jem of a restaurant right in our backyard. The food is an explosion of flavor, the staff is extremelly welcoming and friendly, and can't rave enough about the awesome chef and owner. I have never seen my husband enjoy a meal as much as this place. There is something to be said about first impressions and this place has it all including options that will keep you coming back for more. read more

Great dinner had by all. The seafood platter was excellent as well as the baklava cheese cake. Service was first rare.

Great greek food! The atmosphere is festive and the staff is always great. Our to go place!

I have been to several Greek restaurants in the Boca area and this is one of the most authentic I have been to yet. The service is great, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is amazing. I am definitely coming back here and recommending it to my family and friends. read more

Delicious authentic Greek food, so fresh and delicious. Cute spot w great and friendly staff. Highly recommend! Love mike!!

Awful experience and customer service. Had to clarify 2 times not to add tzatziki to the pita's, they read the order back to us and guess what? There was tzatziki all over the pita's. Asked for no tomatoes, there was tomatoes. The fries were soggy. On top of that, we ordered to go and they told us 15-20 minutes. 40 minutes later we were waiting right outside in clear sight of the entire staff (there were two tables occupied in the entire restaurant) and we asked about the order and it was just sitting there for who knows how long. Anything that could have gone wrong did and they were unapologetic about everything and the manager hung up when I called with my concerns. We've been plenty of times and the new management seems to have ruined the place. Never again. read more

Only reason I can give three stars is because of the decor, concept and presentation. But the food really is lack luster. Kind of bland for Greek food. Fries were not edible, they were soggy and greasy. The Gyro sandwich was not exciting at all. It looked good but no flavor. read more

Food was very good. Mixed seafood platter was great and the desserts were amazing - would definitely come back.

People were nice, decor was cute but the service was wayyyyyy too long and the food was awful. Things were either under cooked or over cooked. The tsaziki was like plain yogurt - no flavor. I had high hopes for them but they need to get real cooks who have Greek food experience. The tables and chairs slide too easily.. I can see senior citizens slipping and falling. read more

Fantastic food and service. We ordered a meal for two which could have fed four. The manager, Soula, was fantastic and so was the entire staff. They gave us a complimentary dessert and had a great wine selection. I was visiting from Chicago and will go back for sure! read more

I was there for lunch with a friend, I ordered the Gyro which I am so disappointed with. The Gyro was more like chunks or end pieces instead of being sliced nice and thin. The Gyro was smothered in the pita with sauce and red onion, one tomato chunk. The fries were very salty. I really wanted to be blown away by this place and it dis not come close. read more

Excellent! Finally an authentic Greek restaurant. The ambiance is trendy and fun. Service was excellent. I traveled to Greece years ago and I felt like I came back. Must try! Omg the chocolate ferrero mouse cake! Yum. read more

Amazing food & service! From the moment we entered, the staff welcomed us as if we were family. The appetizers were prepared perfectly-- tzatziki, paprika spead, roasted eggplant, fava. The grilled white meat chicken strips were moist & tender. The baklava added a sweet , but not cloying, finale to a meal that my family thoroughly enjoyed. The Greek music enhanced the atmosphere. read more

We went to the Olive Pit Saturday night. It was a nice evening so we decided to sit in the back outside. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a very clean open European vibe. We started with hummus and olive plate and their twist on fried cheese. All three were excellent the hummus was silky and creamy and served with warm pita. My wife and I had the Gyro Platter the meat was amazing and the Tzatziki and vegetables were extremely fresh and light. They added fries to the Gyro which I found to be a nice touch. We found the service to be top notch and have now added Olive Pit to our regular rotation. read more

they have amazing food here, and some unique items not found at your normal run-of-the-mill greek restaurants. went for lunch on a sunday, so it was quiet. our server mpampis was very friendly and helpful (and from lesbos). food came out quickly also. we shared 5 small plates, all fresh and delicious. they have only been open 6 months. need to come back for dinner! read more

This was an unexpected treasure! It is a storefront location and the restaurant makes excellent use of the space. It is a bustling place yet also welcoming, and the food is AMAZING!! If you are lucky enough to be there when they serve octopus, be sure to order it. SO tender and not at all rubbery, finished with a seat over a fire of olive pit briquettes, this octopus was to die for. Worth every single penny!! read more

I have had the meals at The Olive Pit and everything was very good. Limited vegetarian options. Staff and management ate very nice, very friendly and very welcoming. It's fun and they still have done new restaurant kinks to work out. read more

This place is a must. Marcos the owner greets you with a smile and happy to discuss what makes them so great. We had prawns and chicken which was hands down the best in Florida. While it's a small place they had seating outside and in to accommodate. Since they are new you can get in quick, but hurry up before this place gets known as it will be packed. great fresh surprise. salad and fried cheese the best! stopped in for the first time and really enjoyed.

This place is amazing! Finally some good Greek food in South Florida. The first thing you see when you walk in nicely decorated restaurant, well thought out catchy design. I am going to start by saying that I have to agree with Ned. L. His review is more spot on and my experience was similar to his. My wife and I went on Wednesday with family that we are visiting in Boca. Our server was a seasoned man, very polite, very professional and told us, truthfully, that they had just opened yesterday and to expect a few hiccups along the way. We were grateful for his honesty. Before we got a chance to make some decisions on the menu, a man approached our table, introduced himself as Mark (or something) and then began to brazenly tell us what we should order! We had in mind to order a bunch of appetizers and a few bottles of wine, so we all just smiled and thanked him for his suggestions. He did not appear to like our reaction and mumbled under his breath as he left the table. We did indeed, order as we had planned. Portions were a bit, if not a lot, on the small side for the money. Chicken kabobs were dry as a result of being cut too small, otherwise, food was tasty, just not enough of it. If I were a resident, would I come back? Maybe. The service was excellent and the problems with the food can be corrected if recognized. read more

Greek restaurants are a dime a dozen in South Florida, but Oliv Pit is an exceptional one of a kind you should not miss. We went with a large group and decided to eat family style, sharing a wide selection of plates and wine. The service was excellent, the food was delicious. The variety of dishes, perfectly prepared, sets Oliv Pit aside from all the rest, a gourmet experience. We are looking forward to many more visits. read more

We celebrated my husbands birthday at this wonderful restaurant last night. It was our first visit based on a friends glowing recommendation. We were not disappointed. We had a table of 8. Said friend had called ahead and requested they put together a variety of apps upon our arrival. What a feast! So fun to sit and chat and pick on really good food. Had the grilled octopus entree which was delicious. Other table hits were the prawns, lamb chops and gyros. Our table mates are all sharers so I think we all had a bite of everything and loved it all. The service was excellent and the staff is super friendly. Can't wait to return. read more
