This place just opened on Tuesday and their flavors are on point! When I first saw the plate, it seemed a bit small, but the flavors were big! The shrimp had a chimichurri-like sauce that was more sweet than salty, which I loved. It is called spicy shrimp but it was not very spicy. To sell more, they should say it is chimichurri or cilantro sauce. I upgraded to fried rice for $2.60 and it was nice, had portuguese sausage, bacon, decent flavor. Mac salad was a bit plain but decent as well. The receipt was a bit confusing since the prices didn't match the menu. After asking they said it was because of a 3.5% card surcharge which is added but taken off when you pay cash. However, when I went to pay cash, the server had trouble changing the price back to the menu price. I figured out the math myself so we shall chalk it up to first week bumps in the road, but hopefully they will fix this soon so other people who check menu prices aren't also confused. read more

This is not a 4.7 restaurant or eatery!!! While the service people were nice , the food was mediocre at best . The lox and bagel, the salmon capers and bits of onion and tomato atop an old, hard and cold bagel was not palatable. I did consume the salmon however I left the bagel in the plate! Pancakes were huge and fluffy yet served with the prepackaged butter spread and table syrup which I asked to have warmed. We finally got to try Oli's Kitchen for a late breakfast with our friend who is visiting from Oakland. Very casual local style place and everyone working was so pleasant as they answered our questions about the restaurant, ownership, and even the photos on the wall. I had the breakfast burrito which was a good size and the cilantro sauce had great flavor and a little kick to it. My wife enjoyed the peanut butter and bacon waffle which is a savory twist to the regular sweet version. The coffee was very good and they were always ready to refill our giant mugs. Because it was a late breakfast and not crowded, the staff let us hangout to catch up with our friend from Oakland and that was very nice of them. One more note, the single use bathroom was very clean and convenient. We will be back soon to try the shoyu chicken sandwich! read more

Want to like this place but both times I've ordered food the rice was like mochi. Too much water? I guess better than many places where the rice is hard. The non-rice side of the plate lunch was good. The hamburger steak and garlic chicken were tasty. Just ordered a cheeseburger to try them out. It took more than 20 minutes and they were pretty empty. There were three of us and all our food came out at different times more than five minutes apart. So we kind of ate separately at the same table. I ordered my cheeseburger medium rare. When it arrived, I could see why it took 20 minutes. They cooked every last bit of flavor out of it and that can take a while. Sadly not charred at all either which is hard to manage when you cook something that long. It was more than well done- dry very firm and totally flavorless, except for a vague odd taste of liver which was kind of gross. Maybe not the best meat to start? On the plus side it was also a pretty small burger- not much bigger than McDonalds quarter pounder so it wasn't a lot to finish. And I almost didn't. Not because I wasn't hungry but because it was that bad. The fries were fine. Cheese fries meant a slice of mild cheddar melted over them. I didn't finish them. Neither could my friends whom I offered them to as well. It takes a lot for me to wish that I'd gone to McDonald's instead, but they definitely got me to that point. I wouldn't go back for free. It's been a while since I've had food that made me sad to be eating it. The other person had garlic chicken and said it was ok. But didn't finish it, which says something if they're a 6'1 UH student. Drove past this a few times to get on the freeway and decided to check it out today. So glad my friends and I did. The service was great. We had the furikake salmon and the Kalbi beef plate. Both were delicious and seasoned perfectly! Forgot to take photos because we couldn't wait to dig in. The salmon portion was generous and came with rice and Mac salad. Same for the Kalbi plate. After a hike we searched for a good place for lunch. The 4.9 rating for this restaurant only had 29 reviews, so we were suspicious, and it seemed risky to go there. But we tried it anyway. Wow it was fantastic! There was a funny typo on their menu, perhaps. The garlic chicken "thicks" were actually boneless chicken thighs. They were the best Korean soy garlic chicken ever! Everyone in our party of four was very happy with the food. My wife got a shoyu chicken bowl and loved it--the sauce filters through the rice and is very flavorful. They serve mac(aroni) salad with many of their dishes but you can substitute salad (and I had Asian dressing). Mmm. My wife thought the mac salad was a little bland but after tasting some flavorful sauces in the chicken, I would expect that. It's odd to see an American side dish with Korean delicacies!
