Found this truck at the Sacred Hearts farmers market in Kaimuki today. DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I got the man child and paid $2 extra for the tots. Both were outstanding. The flavor on the burger was fantastic, especially with the soft brioche bun. The sauce was good, but I would ask for less next time to keep it less messy and less artery clogging. The tots were cooked perfectly and were deliciously seasoned with a cajun type spice. The truck seemed clean and the girl who took my order was very friendly (didn't get her name sadly!). I went to their food truck that parks sometimes on cooke st. Their burgers are so good! I've had their Teri burger as well as their patty melt. I'm torn between the two as which one is better! I really like sourdough bread, but also Teri sauce! It's not like drenched and dripping in it which is nice. The patty melt has like a slow burn so by the end you really feel the spice!! Their fries are super good! Some of the best! You can order ahead which is nice in case they get busy, once I went and they said it was an hour wait because someone called in a big order. I wish they were a little more consistent on Cooke St but it's always a joy when I see their food truck parked there! read more

Food was good, got the shroominator. Teri Fries were basically Cajun fries with their Teri sauce (leans more towards a light brown sauce). The bun held up well despite being it hot & I didn't open the container til I got home about 15 mins later. Wasn't soggy at all. The Teri burger itself was smashed so besides the dry edges, it was good & filling. The fries kind of scrape the top of the roof in my mouth with the heavy seasonings. This is one of my top 3 burger places in Hawaii. Please follow their IG and you will know where they will be every week. I usually go to the Kaheka location since it's close to where I live. This food truck is a MUST-GO food truck. Amazing burger, friendly staffs with reasonable prices. I ordered "The Double Dragon" at a Friday night market in downtown. Since all the burgers were freshly made, the waiting time was less than 10 mins. I also added $2 to substitute the chips to french fries. My burger was really really delicious. Double 1/4 lb patties with American cheese, caramelized onion with pickle mustard sauce. The burger was incredibly juicy and the sauce was a bomb. In addition, the fries were so crunchy and well seasoned. I also tried their Typical Burger which was also fantastic. Must try. I would highly recommend them to everyone. This is the place to knock it off your to do list and thankfully I happen upon them when I was browsing around at Harbor Vintage on South Beretania St and this carnivore spot has creatively utilized their 1/4lb patty in many different ways and as I glanced at the menu they had me at pickled jalapeños. Patty Melt definitely has a lot going from the soy balsamic mushrooms, red onions, muenster cheese and their yummy homemade ranch on both sides of the sourdough bread grilled to perfection really got me excited and it comes with chips but decided to upgrade with a green salad for +$2. I also got the loaded tater tots which is topped with pickled jalapeños, bacon bits, chopped up crispy cheese is like dried cheese and wasn't my favorite but the white lightning drizzle is their homemade ranch I couldn't get enough of was amazing and wished that I got extra sauce. Portions are very generous and can easily feed two is totally worth the wait as everything is obviously made to order so be prepared to have a short wait but loved the vibe and the staff who makes it all work and satisfied my hungry belly. I got their ManChild burger which had bacon and toasty cheese, and my friend got the Party Melt. Both of them came with kettle chips. I enjoyed the burger, was a pretty typical take out burger but with kettle chips instead of fries. Although, my friend and I agreed it was a bit too greasy for our taste, but still pretty good. As the ultimate burger lovers, I knew we had to try! Hungry Jon's has been on my radar for some time now since I've seen the truck in my neighborhood. Located at the Pearlridge night market this time. They had a TV screen on their truck that played all the different photos of all their signature foods on the menu. This had me drooling while I passed by weighing out my options, good marketing lol. Very nice and friendly workers! Order estimated around 15 minutes. Cash or card accepted. We decided on the Warhammer ($16) and Manchild ($12) which came with a side of crispy kettle chips. The Warhammer was delicious! Hot, very juicy, bacon makes everything better. I chose the Man child since I couldn't resist once I saw the "cheese skirt" which was interesting. Sadly, my burger wasn't warm and the cheese skirt ended up being more mushy than crispy. Maybe mine sat a little longer while the other burger was being made. They were also out of caramelized onions, but I bet that would have made it taste better. We ran into Hungry Jon's food truck at the Harley Davidson car show last night where we brought our lowrider, and thank God they were there because I didn't even know this truck existed until now. We grabbed two burgers: my boyfriend went full caveman with the War-Hammer ($19) and I got Ethan's Old-School Teri Burger ($13). Both come with chips, but you can upgrade to fries for $3. I figured one fry upgrade would be enough for us to share but honesty, the fries were good and seasoned well, but the portion was really small, too small for the $3 upgrade anyway. Its the kind of portion that makes you feel like you're on a diet you never signed up for. If you think youll be able to sneak a few fries off your partners plate and it not be noticed, think again. Lol Just upgrade your own. His War-Hammer was solid, but a little pricey to not come with fries. My Teri burger though? Absolute religious experience. I've been dealing with health stuff that makes it hard to eat much, but I inhaled half of this thing like I'd just been released from prison for selling bootleg Limewire DVDs. The patty was pounded thin, like the balding tires on my Audi after hitting all these Dillingham pot-holes but it was enough for me. The Teri sauce was straight-up crack in condiment form. I said it reminded me of Subway's sweet onion teriyaki sauce, but my boyfriend said it reminded him of the old Kenny's Burger House in Kalihi (back in the 90s). He was having childhood flashbacks like he had been in the Vietnam War. This burger has me walking around scratching my neck like them batu-fiend night walkers in chinatown. Lily D put this lunch truck on my radar months ago but I wasn't able to come visit till recently. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of going to lunch trucks but the sandwiches here looked legit and she said they were good so I had to give them a try. Hungry Jon's Place is a black lunch truck that is on Kaheka St next to American Savings Bank in the Pan Am Building. I texted in my order so that I could eat the sandwiches as quickly as possible around 10:30am. They replied back with the menu for the day with specials and told me that my pick up time was 11:45am. I was so excited to try them out that I arrived a little early so I paid first and waited for my order to be completed. Both cash and credit cards are accepted. They didn't take long to get my order out. It smelled amazing on the drive home. My order was 1 Party Melt and 1 Chunky Cheese. Both orders came with chips. The menu board stated they were sold out which is great for them. They seem to have a loyal following as most people there have tried several menu items from what I overheard. Seems like preordering is the way to go as a few customers just walked by and was sad they were sold out. Originally I wanted 1 Patty Melt, 1 Korean Braised Beef Sandwich and 1 Pothead. With their menu changing weekly, I was glad because their Chunky Cheese sandwich was amazing! The jalapeños added a nice kick to the sandwich and the bread on both sandwiches were still crispy when I ate them. Between both sandwiches, I enjoyed the Chunky Cheese more. You get amazing sandwiches for a great price. Customer service was friendly and you gotta love supporting a local husband and wife business. Solid spot and they lived up to Lily D's hype. read more

I was craving a burger and saw the banner to the Kaiser Farmer's Market and decided to take a chance. I'm so happy I stumbled across Hungry Jon's Place! The prices were extremely reasonable and the burger was fantastic. I ordered the Manchild burger and really enjoyed every bite. This food truck near donki (Kaheka) has been open for several weeks now. They're either parked by the detached parking structure or near the church. I just drove around the block to try to find their gray truck the day i went. I literally heard about this truck because of IG. I actually have 2 IG accounts (one to post food and one for my dog). One day i noticed in stories that another newer dog account mentioned that they owned a food truck, so of course i was willing to try it! You can always count me in when it involves food! They also have really strange hours and only open on Sundays and Mondays from 10-2pm. I found out that they also have other full time jobs, so this explains the strange business hours. Luckily for me - i was off today so i was able to go down and try! I've attempted to come down prior but something i went to that day took way too long and didn't make it back into town in time. They are also the cutest husband and wife duo. That is amazing to want to work with your significant other, because i think i would go crazy! LOL. They had 3 Sandwiches & 1 Soup available this Sunday - I opted for the Kahula Yaki which was typically Kalua pork w/Teri Sauce. The sandwich also came with a side of chips or salad. I opted for the chips. The sandwich was also so big its sharable between two people as well. All sandwiches are $12 and really good. I cant wait to try other ones they have in the making as long as it's nothing healthy and only veggies, LOL. You're also allowed to bring your 2 or 4 legged children since it is a food truck and they're parked along the street. If you have a 4 legged child - they do sell dog treats for ($6). These treats are made by the wife. They were so kind let Simba sample some of their treats. The flavor was chicken and pumpkin and it breaks apart similar to a Ryoken bar for smaller portions if you're familiar with that brand. Cash, Credit, or Venmo is accepted. read more

My co-workers have been raving about this truck for months. I finally took the plunge since they were located near the office. Today's specials were four burger selections and a salmon sandwich. Their soup of the day was corn chowder. I chose the Typical Burger which consisted of grilled sourdough bread, hamburger patty, bacon, pickle, red onions, lettuce and tomato. It was topped with their "typical" sauce which was similar to thousand island dressing and served with kettle style chips. The sandwich was big, messy and delicious. I had to get extra napkins. Just casually passing by Don Q and we saw this quaint food truck pulled up to side. I told my boyfriend I wanted to try and so we did. ***What we ordered ~ **What the Cluck? (10/10) ~ The sandwich really had us saying, "What the cluck!?" because of how good it is! Everything was nicely seasoned and juicy. We loved how the sourdough bread was grilled to perfection and added a nice crunch to everything. The best part of this was actually dipping the sandwich into the soup of the day (spicy pumpkin soup) and then eating it. Honestly, *CHEFS KISSES*!! **Soup of the day (Spicy Pumpkin Soup) (10/10) ~ I'm a sucker for fall flavored soups and this was amazing. Think of pumpkin spiced latte, but soup form. What a solid burger place. Honestly the taste was solid. Average. Can't complain. The service though. That's an insane wait time. We waited 30 minutes for a Teri burger. Generously 30 minutes too. Wouldn't go back. I can't imagine it takes that long to make a burger. We many laps around the market before going and waiting too. The worst part.... It wasn't even crowded. Better luck next time. Was going to DQ for lunch and saw this food truck parked outside the parking structure. Decided on the What the Cluck (they were sold out of their kalua pig sandwiches), carrot ginger soup and apple cobbler for dessert. The sandwich was grilled perfectly and very tasty. The soup was very flavorful without being salty. The apple cobbler was delicious. Service was genuine with aloha and quick. I'll be back with my wife the next time to try their sold out kalua pig sandwiches. FYI - they only open on Sundays and Mondays from 11:30am-2:30pm and sell out. read more

The burger presentation was great. The menu looks like it has some delicious options. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to what I expected. I found the burger to be too greasy and salty. I pulled off the mushrooms to taste the mushrooms separately. The mushrooms had delicious flavor. The burger was still as I mentioned: too greasy and too salty. It definitely didn't help that they also added salty chips with the burger. The bun was toasted, but still soggy. I threw the chips away. I'm glad I tried, but don't plan on returning. read more

Today was such a busy day but I wanted to make sure I still leave a review because this place was just too good! Straight to the point, service was 10/10! You can tell this family business is a genuine, hardworking, and passionate business. You can definitely tell just how passionate this husband and wife duo is just by tasting their food!! My other half and I visited pretty close to closing time, so the some menu options were sold out by that time (which should tell you just how good they are) and although we felt pretty bad for coming a little late we were not pressured at all to hurry with a decision or anything. Instead Maria helped by suggesting options and we went with her fav the "Landshark". They made sure to pack our plate and did not disappoint! This sandwich was a kalua pork & spicy poke combo, I have never had a sandwich with poke in it but man was it bomb! Best believe my other half felt the same way too lol! I visited the Hungry Jon's Place food truck at the Makiki farmers market on Thursday. Let me tell you. From my perspective as a lover of all things burgers. What I saw on the menu required a taste. I chose the "Double". It had a fun name I cannot remember at the moment. Anyway. As I've mentioned in some previous reviews I've had a lot of burgers. And I can state with confidence that what Hungry Jon's Place is making is among the best of the best. As I scanned the menu it was clear to me this truck is special. It's the kind of menu that says. Shit.... I need to try each and every one of these burgers. It really is that inspiring. I only hate the fact that I reside on the mainland and will have to only dream about completing this journey. However, in my absence I would encourage YOU! To realize my dream on my behalf. Couple other things to note. I was greeted with a tremendous smile along with an understanding that she knew exactly what I needed. It was clear to us both. It was our destiny. That I choose the salad as my side. And OMG was this the perfect choice. I mean I love chips.... But chips are a dime a dozen. I believe one true test of a chef is how hood they can toss a salad. In Jon's case... he's done real good. Fresh spring greens with a just the right amount of what I can only describe as a lovely dressing. House made insure. Nothing crazy here nothing obnoxious or trendy. Just delicious!!! Buying food from what looks like a SWAT vehicle may seem intimidating at first. But rest assured these folks are friendly, helpful and serious about their food quality!! Salad was nicely dressed greens - not just an afterthought... The WtC was super tasty and the mushrooms, balsamic, and garlic sauce made for a great combo. The Landshark was a great surprise - I was a little hesitant about getting spicy ahi in a sandwich but with the taegu and radish sprouts it was super well balanced. Both were generously stuffed with filling and the sourdough was perfectly toasted. Jon is a sandwich genius! Tried this new food truck by Don Quijote near Ala Moana Mall and was very impressed. Truck is run by a nice young couple and the focused menu enables them to provide a high quality product. I tried their chicken sandwich and soup options and enjoyed every bite. The carrot ginger soup was thick with a good hit of ginger while the sandwich had plenty of chicken & veggies with a very tasty garlic sauce that worked well with the soup's ginger.
