A great local favorite, nothing flashy, but it is not supposed to be! A great place to practice or go with a few friends or a date. O'Lindy's reminds me of the time I had just gotten into bowling - old school candlepin! The walls appear to be carpeted, and the balls return on open rails. They don't use paper scoring though - scoring is done automatically. It's a much older system with tube TV's, and no song and dance every other ball. While I appreciate the simplicity of just three buttons, it is not always 100% accurate, and you're unable to fix it yourself. Person behind the counter probably could - but I'm not **that** serious a bowler. With all this: You don't come here to get your party on, but a small-ish group or corporate event would be just fine. No fancy massive TV walls, black-lights,disco balls, or full bar/kitchen, if that's your thing. They do have an extremely limited beer/wine(?) selection, and other concessions. Cost is per person per string, and is quite reasonable at under five bucks. read more

This place is awful, dirty, and racist. I rather drive a bit further to Boston Bowl. They are unwelcoming. They judge you based on whether you will buy alcohol from them. If you're White, they give you service with a smile. If you're not, you get a shitload of attitude from them. Never coming back here. This place is not family friendly at all. If a kid accidentally hit the gate they shut off the lane and kick you out and still charge you. Who the fuck does that to little kids to hurt them? They act like their lanes are made of marbles. If it's so precious make it adult only then. That's just ridiculous. They don't even oil their lanes and they act like some big shots. read more

It was a rainy Sunday afternoon, and this place was surprisingly empty. They have 16 lanes for Candlepin bowling, and 11 (minus the two that were covered?) pool tables. We were charged $12 per hour for the 2 hours of billiards played, so with the $5 coupon I had printed from their website it was $8 apiece for the two of us. read more

Pre covid review: The machines are a bit old, so you might have to press the buttons to get everything set up right, but you get that feeling walking in. Very old school. Beer and wine are cash only, and the card minimum on food is $15, so you might want to have cash anyway. Fun times. It's been said in other reviews, but it is candlepin only. If you're not from New England, funny bowling with balls that you don't put your fingers in and the pins are left down until your set is over. read more

From what I experienced, I would say this place was nice looking but didn't make sense. I payed for an hour but noticed an hour had passed and maybe 10 minutes but they didn't shut the lights off. personally this was my first experience here and possibly my last. I have to give Olindys 5 stars for putting up with my friends. I recently turned older (unfortunately) and thought it would be grand to go bowling for my birthday. I figured I'm 26 years old how many of my adult friends are going to want to go bowling on a Saturday night in December? Answer to this question is pretty much all of them. I thought it would be like 8 of us going bowling and the grand total was 23. I called in advance and booked 5 lanes and when we got there it was a pretty smooth operation. We got pretty loud due to the beer and wine mentioned in the first review, but they didn't seem to mind. Everyone had a fantastic time and I might do it again next year! It cost a little over $200 for 23 people to play 2 strings and rent shoes. read more

I was warned that this place was going to be rundown and townie, and was pleasantly surprised to find only the latter was true. I'm used to Sacco's Bowl Haven in Davis Square, so when I went into Olindy's and saw that the candlepin lanes had electronic scoring and automatic pin resetting, I was thrilled. I was also sad about being thrilled over something like that. Such is the life I lead. Oh well. Anyway, I wouldn't necessarily call it a cheap date place, because the games as $3.50 each, which is a bit steep for candlepin. That said, if you want to do something different and fun for under $25, take someone to Olindy's. read more

Nice little bowling alley with a 1970's feel to it. I went there this past weekend with a few of the girls from work and we had a blast. This is the only remaining bowling alley in Quincy and it is still as fun to go there now as it was when I used to go there as a kid. There is plenty of parking available in their private lot in front of the building. They only have candlepin bowling here but since that is the style of bowling that I prefer I am totally fine with that. They also have pool tables here and you can play darts as well. They have vending machines for drinks and if you're in the mood for a snack while you're bowling they make snacks there such as pizza, mozzarella sticks and nachos just to name a few. Very nice place to go to for an evening of fun and entertainment. I hadn't been here in quite a while and it was great to get back. Would love to go again sometime! read more

This place is just awful. We walked up to the doors at 8:30pm and the doors were locked when the sign on the door and online says closed at 10 pm. The workers/managers were extremely rude and frustrating. We could obviously see that there were people bowling inside and they still refused us service. They didn't even have enough manners to open the door to tell us they weren't going to allow us in. Instead they proceeded to scream at us through the doors to tell us they were "closed." read more

How did I manage to get two games, plus shoe rental, and two beers all for $12? Man, I have no idea, but Olindy's was responsible for it all. The place was pretty empty late on a Sunday night, and we were a big loud crowd to ourselves, so it was perfect. The owner was a totally nice, flexible guy--he opened a bar tab for our group so we didn't have to keep going up with our purses/wallets when it was time for a refill. If you want bowling with a loud club atmosphere, crazy touch-screen terminals at every station, and glow-in-the-dark lanes...well, this isn't the place for you (and FYI, you might just be a prick). Yep, the decor is straight out of 1979, and most of the technology in the place older than I am, but everything works just fine and the laid-back townie atmosphere is absolutely charming. Two of my greatest pleasures in life are carpeted walls, closely followed by candlepin bowling, so Olindy's did not disappoint on either front. I'm new to Quincy and was super psyched to find a bowling alley so close to my new home, so I was itching to check this place out. With $3.50 strings on Friday nights, why not? When we arrived, the small parking lot was packed so it was immediately clear to me that Olindy's is a very hot spot in town. But, in spite of this, we got a lane right away. With the walls freshly vacuumed and plenty of other folks bowling the night away, a solid, vaguely 1970s vibe was set for the evening. There is electronic scoring, perfect for those who, like me, only pretend to be an expert on the rules. There seemed to be a decent selection of snacks (the $2.50 tots were very tempting) and a couple arcade games that looked to be from sometime in the mid-'90s. A no-frills, inexpensive way to spend the night. What more could you ask for? I can't wait to come back! read more

Up until a couple years ago, I lived in walking distance. And ... well, okay. A bunch of the reviews are right. This is a slightly shabby, 60s/70s era candlepin bowladrome. It's got a bunch of pool tables (and I never saw them all filled up), and sixteen lanes. They put in first generation electronic scoring, but that's all the modernization you'll find. But if what you're looking for is inexpensive candlepin bowling, and you're not enthused about the neon disco moonbase that some area competitors are (at, mind you, half again the price), this is the place for you. Sorry, I like my bowling slightly more intimate than in a giant freaking hanger large enough to land passenger jets. Olindy's fits the bill. read more

Simply put: Olindy's is awesome. I hadn't been in a zillion years and thought I sucked at bowling but I actually had a really good time. I love the smell of shoe spray and the vintage bowling pods. This place hasn't changed at all in all the times I've been here throughout my life, which is kinda cool. I have been going to Olindy's off and on since I was a kid. I have not gone in a while but I can say that it is a lot more safe and family friendly then Boston Bowl(sorry Boston Bowl). Yes it is dated but the guy who runs it is nice and fixes the lanes if anything glitches. Yes the lanes glitched when I last went with my bf, but the guy on that shift(the owner idk) moved us to a different lane and was quick to fix the problem. Price is good and they have darts, pool, bowling and some arcade machines best of all they have Slush Puppies. Go bring the family etc... it is a chill time. read more

Great old school alley. There are also pool tables, air hockey, video games, and pinball as well. There is a large case with pool, bowling, and darts supplies, which are hard to find in brick and mortar stores nowadays. The original decor has been maintained, but with upgraded automatic computer scoring. Lanes are maintained well, however my only complaint is that the ball return on our lane was very slow. If you do not bring your own set of balls like I did, and instead use the plentiful alley balls, you shouldn't notice an issue. read more

Boston Bowl was packed..last minute we were searching for candle pin bowling and we called up Olindy's. Do you have space for about 15 kids from a youth group? Sure come on in. We enter a bowling alley that was made in the 70's and was still living in that time. Sure it has charm and old fashion fun.. and it's not like kids ask for much. But it sucks when the lanes stop working, or the pins don't all get picked up for the next person. Kids were getting frustrated and so was I. The people were friendly and they would try to fix things immediately.. but it would still act up. I don't think we'll be returning here. I took my 7 yr old son here today and originally was going to play 2 games but something had come up where my son and I needed to go. I went up to pay the $14. I didn't know that it was a min of $15 for a card swipe, now you think a business the so called owner (probably son of who started this place) would let you know kindly that its a $15 min for cc right? It was only my son and I. I refused to use there atm machine (cost $3 to use). He then told me I can purchase a brownie to cover the min. I said I wasn't here for a snack. He then told me to leave and I gladly left and thought this was poor business practice. I did buy a can of beer for $4 cash so they did get some of my money unfortunately but thanks for the free outing with my son. I'll be going to Boston bowling going forward. read more

Olindys has been a fixture in Quincy for many years. In a city that once had over a dozen or more bowling alleys of a variety of sizes and ages, Olindys is the sole survivor! It has 16 lanes of Candlepin Bowling on one level. It has a fair sized parking lot attached to the facility, and a larger one across Quincy Avenue. Olindys offers "more traditional" bowling alley fare (including "convection oven pizza" a treat that brings back the old days for the Guru!) Olindys also has a good sized pool room. It is a "true" house. They *DO* have some games. They *DO* have bumper bowling for children. They do not offer "Glow" or "Cosmic" bowling. They use computer scoring for the public. If I could give this place negative stars I would! My friend is 30 years old and was with myself and another person who is under 21 and he would not serve her a beer because she was with us. What if a mom with kids had come in asking for a drink? No because her kids are 5 years old? I don't think so. A total dive candlepin bowling alley, but I think that's why I like it here. Never crowded, cheap beers and a cool manager/owner. Closing says 10 on most nights, but he won't kick you out. If enough people are playing, he'll let you keep on playing. Bumpers available, and you can now purchase an O Lindy's T-shirt! No food inside, but I've brought in some food before and it wasn't a problem for a company function. Check it out for some good clean fun! read more

There's a lot out front and I think you can park across the street too, if that gets full. Inside, there are 16 lanes and a bunch of pool tables. $2 shoe rental and $3.50/person per string. Not bad! They also sell beer and wine here- most beer is $3, and wine is $3.50. We went later in the evening, and the food that remained looked GROSS. But they do sell hot dogs, pizza, etc. And, to the delight of my roommate, they have a slush puppie machine. Score! All and all it was a fun, cheap night. No complaints! read more

i did like this place but this is 3rd time this has happened to us which really just isnt ok so heres my review. My husband wanted to take my son bowling. We called at 8:00pm to see what time they were open till for public bowling and the guy said 9pm. Great so my husband and son drove all the way there got there at 8:25 to the whole place shut down! What did the guy leave as soon as my husband called because he didnt want to stay till 9 pm? Why would you tell a customer that you are open till 9pm if your going to leave before 8:30? Great way to dissapoint a child and what horrible customer service. Sorry but theres plenty of places to bowl and now we will be taking our business elsewhere. read more
