It was quiet on a Saturday afternoon - it was tax free weekend, so everyone was likely out shopping. I'd brought my own shoes and ball, though there seemed to be plenty of different house balls available (though during busy times, your mileage may vary). The lanes were well oiled, the automatic scoring did not give me any trouble, and there were no malfunctions that needed an attendant. The facility was modern, with large screens (Spongebob was on), and music loud enough to be heard, but not approaching a metal concert (again, Saturday afternoon vs Friday night is likely a different experience). There's just one little thing: a bit of sticker shock. When I was a kid bowling with dad, it cost under $4 a string, maybe $4.25 during a popular time. Here, it was $8.50 per string [Fri. 5pm - Sun. Close]. I fully understand that it has been 20 years, yet, $25 for one person bowling for 15 minutes still seems a bit steep. Consider: if I had brought three friends we'd be be looking at over $100.

Aimed mostly at the owner and it is obvious who this gray haired older man is. An owner sets the tone and for the most part is reviewed as rude and unprofessional, shame. Like it has been said to little to late. All the pin machines have been replaced. Shame it will not bring back new business with the many negative reviews here. It has great potential as a family entertainment center but with lost birthday reservation and telling guess he did not care if they left and a party of 17 out the door. I been going to Planet Fitness right next door and decided to check out Pickles. I walked in and…read moretalked with a woman at the front desk who couldn't have been any nicer. She recommended going online and booking a "Quick Start 2.0" lesson with one of the instructors they had. I created profiles for my wife and I on their website and booked the lesson. Another couple at our same level was added to make a 4some. We met with our instructor Scotty for the 2 hour lesson and he was AWESOME. We spent about an hour discussing the rules, scoring and running through a bunch of drills that taught us to say the score, serve, volley, where to stand, etc. He simplified everything and and we were ready for some game play. The 2nd hour we spent playing actual games and rotating partners. We could get in about 3 games going to 11 points along with instruction. I highly recommend a lesson. We paid $60 each, but learned so much. I also watched a video on YouTube explaining the scoring prior to my lesson, so it made it easier to understand. The place is busy, but the reservations make it well organized. We have since rented our own court and brought our kids to play. Court was $50 and paddles were $5 each for those that didn't have them.
