When my age was in the single digits, I discovered a love for bowling. I am now nearing 30, and my…read moreenjoyment of bowling continues - plus I've since discovered 10-pin. Though, in the recent year, life got a little complicated, and thus it's been a while. Not wanting to fight the continuous Boston traffic, I decided to give Boston Bowl - Hanover a try. It was quiet on a Saturday afternoon - it was tax free weekend, so everyone was likely out shopping. I'd brought my own shoes and ball, though there seemed to be plenty of different house balls available (though during busy times, your mileage may vary). The lanes were well oiled, the automatic scoring did not give me any trouble, and there were no malfunctions that needed an attendant. The facility was modern, with large screens (Spongebob was on), and music loud enough to be heard, but not approaching a metal concert (again, Saturday afternoon vs Friday night is likely a different experience). There's just one little thing: a bit of sticker shock. When I was a kid bowling with dad, it cost under $4 a string, maybe $4.25 during a popular time. Here, it was $8.50 per string [Fri. 5pm - Sun. Close]. I fully understand that it has been 20 years, yet, $25 for one person bowling for 15 minutes still seems a bit steep. Consider: if I had brought three friends we'd be be looking at over $100.

A very clean venue, with great snacks, concessions, and accoutrements. A professional and nice staff. Reasonably priced. Plenty of parking, literally, right in Route 18. It's a fun activity. My recommendation though, don't go when it's rainy or other outdoor activities can't be had as the place does tend to get filled up. No negatives whatsoever.

Lang's Bowlarama is a great example of how to modernize a classic business the right way. Having…read morebeen around since 1960, this place had seen better days by the '80s when I was in high school, and apparently continued that downward trend for a while. But someone clearly invested wisely in bringing this Rhode Island institution into the modern era. The updates are impressive and practical. Everything runs smoothly - from the quick ball returns and pin setups to the modern scoring system. They've switched to hourly rates instead of per-string pricing, which makes a lot of sense with their efficient setup. Their Monday-Friday special ($20 for an hour of bowling plus shoe rental) is a great deal - and thanks to how quickly everything runs, you can easily fit three strings into that hour, as we discovered when we overbooked for two! The facility itself is super clean, including the bathrooms (always a telling sign). They've covered all the bases for refreshments with both a proper bar/food setup and vending machines. The counter staff is friendly, parking is plentiful, and the whole operation runs like a well-oiled ball return machine. It's great to see a family entertainment spot that's both well-maintained and affordable. Lang's has managed to preserve its community bowling alley character while giving customers all the modern conveniences they expect. Perfect for family time or a fun afternoon with friends.

Ten minutes after we arrived multiple summer camps came into the arcade (approximately 200 kids). The kids were not well supervised. They were running around crazy. When we went to check out the valuse of the tickets it got even more confusing. There was about 60 kids gathered around the counter pushing, shoving and cutting in front of people. There were no adults trying to keep things organized. At the time there were 3 cashiers behind the counter. I asked to speak to a manager. I told her they should have one of the cashiers for customers who do not come with the camps. A day that started out fun for my grandkids ended up being very disappointing. They didn't get to redeem their tickets because of the kaois. I will never take them back to Ryan'

I had to walk through the entire establishment and arcade to the host desk, where I was told to seat myself in the restaurant area, and that someone would be over shortly. After waiting for 10 minutes, a server approached and told me he'd be with me in a moment. Another 10 minutes passed, and I went up to the bar to order drinks and a kids' meal, along with an appetizer. After at least 45 more minutes, my toddler was becoming irritable due to hunger. When the food finally arrived, it was cold and not even what I had ordered. I explained to the server that I wanted to pay for the drinks and leave, and his response was, "There are other people I need to take care of first." While I know the server wasn't entirely to blame, this experience was a complete disaster. PiNZ is supposed to be a family-friendly place, but this was my third time dining here, and every visit has been extremely disappointing. As someone who has worked in the service industry for years, I'm honestly baffled that this place is still open. Service is terrible. Food is terrible. You couldn't pay me to come back.

My wife and I enjoyed this rarity last Friday; and as rain clouds circled, The Alley 's super powers were obvious: dedicated staff, home-style recipes and a wagon full of plain hospitality! We first mosied towards the quiet bar but located a table on the way; next to us, Jill, friendly as any hostess, was creating an artsy Halloween backdrop to enhance her area. Andater, she even shared a warm slice of the day's special, a cheesy chicken-broccoli flatbread pizza. (So good, after we ordered one for home!) Her bartender-server colleague Melissa also stood out; fielding questions, taking our order, and even crafting a unique Hot Toddy and Gin-Lime Martini. Then the dishes started: first, a steaming bowl of really decent chowder; then Mac & Cheese and Collard Greens for hot sides; with a chilled mixed greens side salad drenched in a light champagne vinegarette - and ample enough to satisfy a small family! The highest accolades, however, aside from the hospitality, go to the kitchen for their tender Buttermilk Fried Chicken, just as tantalizing as it gets! And Kitchen guru Tom was overjoyed to hear how superb we found all his dishes. So we all lingered, ate and chatted till the proverbial cows came back. And in closing, what a memorable Southern feast it all was! We just The Alley and it's people! (And O.G., overseeing the bowling, was just as nice too.) This here is one fun rodeo.
