Lang's Bowlarama is a great example of how to modernize a classic business the right way. Having been around since 1960, this place had seen better days by the '80s when I was in high school, and apparently continued that downward trend for a while. But someone clearly invested wisely in bringing this Rhode Island institution into the modern era. The updates are impressive and practical. Everything runs smoothly - from the quick ball returns and pin setups to the modern scoring system. They've switched to hourly rates instead of per-string pricing, which makes a lot of sense with their efficient setup. Their Monday-Friday special ($20 for an hour of bowling plus shoe rental) is a great deal - and thanks to how quickly everything runs, you can easily fit three strings into that hour, as we discovered when we overbooked for two! The facility itself is super clean, including the bathrooms (always a telling sign). They've covered all the bases for refreshments with both a proper bar/food setup and vending machines. The counter staff is friendly, parking is plentiful, and the whole operation runs like a well-oiled ball return machine. It's great to see a family entertainment spot that's both well-maintained and affordable. Lang's has managed to preserve its community bowling alley character while giving customers all the modern conveniences they expect. Atomic bowling on a Saturday night sounded like a recipe for distress for this introvert but Lang's was a BLAST!!! I really wanted to go bowling for a recent birthday and so I called the week of and reserved several lanes. I had much more success connecting with someone during the daytime hours than in the evening but once I had someone on the line it was a breeze to accomplish my goal. The alley made the whole planning process quite simple. Just approximate your party size and they'll let you know how many lanes you'll need and will help get that on the books. The night of, things couldn't have been easier. My group rolled up and each was able to pay for their own evening. $20 per person got us 2 hours of bowling and a pair of shoes. In no time we were browsing the racks of bowling balls, donning our shoes, and selecting teams. The equipment was easy to set up and we had a waitress stop by for some drink orders. The lights and the music started around 9 or 9:30 which brought a festive flare to the place. They made a slew of birthday announcements throughout the evening. If I could have asked for anything, it would have been a couple more visits for orders from our lanes as we were located the furthest from the bar area but we took breaks in the action to head over ourselves. Aside from a couple of snafus with the pin resetters inaccurately scoring our pins, the night went off without a hitch. Lots of space, easy parking, pleasant staff. The perfect outing for all ages! We always have the best time at Lang's. They have done an amazing job bringing a modern, fun flare to bowling alleys. This place is affordable, fun, has attentive and kind staff, and would you believe it - the BEST food. The people working at Lang's have really brought this place to life and have made it a top spot to visit in the RI area. They even have a gorgeous event space, again with delicious food! Lang's is always a good time to bowl with the littles. Especially on a rainy day! They have the music always bumpin and we love the photo booth at the computer to log in your players. The staff is quick to put people in and get them out just as fast so they can turnover the tables. We had no problems getting our reservation made and checking in. Shoes are always slick when you walk on the lanes, but you know how that goes- just be careful. We love the little bar lounge they have and the fun little cocktail menu is great for the adults. Not sure what the event center is all about but I thought it used to be a restaurant and that kinda stinks that its no longer. read more

Eh this place is NOT what it used to be. They have made so many lanes to cram people in there, that you're practically in there like sardines. Literally the people bowling next to us, mine as well been sitting in our laps, that's how much space we had. We had a group of 4 and so did they and there wasn't enough chairs for all of us at all! This is super uncomfortable, and no space at all. The place was packed with people, it felt like a concert. The music was decent they had a DJ which was cool, but I thought the whole point of bowling on a weekend at night the lights go off, isn't that the whole point of night bowling. Me and the group next to us, were confused to why it was 10pm and the lights were still on, on a Saturday, 10:30pm STILL ON???? This place is for sure not what it used to be. They made a nice bar, but it advertised on the big screen a passion fruit alcohol beverage, it was my birthday weekend so of course I wanted it Plus it was advertised on the screen, go to the bar they said they don't have the passion fruit juice to make it. I would never come back here. IF you have claustrophobia don't come here, it's a madhouse in there. read more

I love the vibe here. Lang's completely updated their lanes while also preserving the nostalgic bowling alley feel of the 50's and 60's, minus the stained yellow ashtrays and sticky carpets. They also updated their menu to offer more upscale bar food versus the microwaved nachos and hotdogs. This is a cool place to go bowling, with good food, good atmosphere and an assortment of local beers. It's definitely a place you can hang out. I've been here twice, though, and both times I had an issue with my bowling lane. In fact both times they had to move us after we already started bowling because they put us on the wrong lane. Either I have really bad luck, or this is a frequent occurrence. They did add extra time to our clock for the mishap, but this is just a warning to not get comfortable at your first lane, because you may be dragging all your balls and shoes somewhere else. read more

This is definitely not your average bowling alley. Everything is well organized, clean, and spacious. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. The bar has great beer craft selections and the food options are better than any bowling alley I've ever been to. The bartender, Fritz, is just amazing - a great asset to this place! The updated scoring system makes it easy for even a novice to have a great time without having to worry. All in all, I'd say this is my favorite spot for bowling in the area, hands down. read more

We had our wedding at Lang's last night and it was wonderful! Kayla, the event coordinator, is on top of everything! She and the staff at The Nelson went out of their way to make sure our night was perfect! Renee was our server for the night and she was awesome! I don't drink so I didn't meet the bartenders, but they were great too! The price is right! This venue is affordable and already looks beautiful so you can keep your event on the cheap. The food was delicious. Guests were talking about it all night. We had a few guests with dietary restrictions so Kayla labeled the food for us. I would DEFINITELY use this venue again! Mark R says Lang's has a lot of bowling lanes and A lot of space. They also have food Mark goes to Lang's to bowl every Wednesday with large a group of people using 2 lanes. They have a good selection of house bowling balls, the rental shoes he gets usually fit well. The lane condition is always good and the bumpers work well. The computerized scoring is easy to operate. Mark has eaten at Lang's just once and he got the $9.99 veggie burger which came with fries and a drink. He enjoyed the burger very much. He enjoyed the food but found it expensive. They also have a video arcade that people usually play, but no games he is interested in playing. They have sticker vending machines in the arcade area also. He thinks $2 special which includes rental shoes & 1 game of bowling is a good deal. Obviously there is an additional fee for additional games. Mark has said he likes Lang's and will continue to go bowl on a weekly basis and he may check out the food again one day. read more

Experience was unbeatable. Service was amazing. Met the owner and multiple employees were amazing to us. Andres (I believe) makes the best drinks. Banana foster, chunky monkey, Oreo crush, Cider Sangria (only one I really tasted alcohol), and Bowlarama (pina colada based) were all really good. Pizza, nachos, and pretzels were okay. Retro themed alley. Been here three times, first time with family, second for a company party, and third with a group of friends. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rates on a Saturday afternoon were $13 per person, 5 people ended up ringing to about $65. However, there are price deals every day that vary. The Nelson bar at the end of the alley was a great place to hold a company party and everyone seemed to enjoy the bar. The snack bar was great. We ordered a 16' round meat lovers pizza, fried pickle chips, cheese fries, four bottles of water, three ice cream sandwiches and two Twix ice cream bars. The fried pickle chips were delicious. Really affordable prices. They deliver the food to your lane when it's ready. The lanes are clean and clear. Bowling balls are neon colored and weight is stated on the ball. Broke a few nails from bowling, but it was well worth it. Overall, I really enjoy Lang's way more than AMF. It's pretty busy whenever I come here, but it's well worth the trip. read more

I love coming here, it was my go-to family outing. But up until one day. I felt discriminated.. I didn't know why the worker asked me what I was drinking. Mind you I am Asian and i had told them that it was Heineken and Yinglen. But I guess that wasn't enough, then the guy came over and ask my friend if she was drinking henny? She said no then he ask her if can He smell her cup? She said go ahead... Because he mentioned that the other worker was gonna call the cops???He smelled it and walked away no questions asked?? We had the best time here!!! Family bowling night went around 8:30 and had to wait like 30 minutes. Nice vibe, good music, enjoyable people. Front desk was a bit confusing. We walked in and stood in the middle while both guys were helping people. It was a little confusing since a group walked in, walked right to the side and the person helped them while everyone else stood in line. We grabbed drinks and fries and waited. Super busy but security kept it clean, fun and on top of things!!! Oh and did I mention they are on the less expensive side???!!!!! Saved so much money coming here!!! read more

Ok- full disclosure: I didn't come here to bowl. After a long week we were ready to kick back with a fun night filled with punk music, cheap beer and fried foods. This place delivered. The bar area was a perfect venue for a show! The pitchers of beer are cheap and the bar has a good selection. Came here twice actually and both times were very exciting. I recommend eating before coming here to bowl only because most of the menu consists of 'finger foods' which obviously gets on your hands.. and then touching the bowling ball to bowl may affect your grip and/or how forceful you roll the ball. If you do decide to order off the menu, there are a variety of food items from pepperoni pizza to popcorn. They delivered right to our table in a span of 10-15 minutes after ordering only two pizzas. I paid $18 to bowl for two hours on a Saturday evening and I believe that it's quite a nice price for the amount of time you play. I am positive that these prices vary along the time you arrive which is understandable for business. I got there around 8PM and wasn't fairly intrigued at the interior decor. Yeah, there's neon lights around, songs that I'm not that familiar with were being played, and big red letters that spell out 'BOWL.' It pretty much is just any other bowling alley seen in movies and such. That was what I thought UNTIL 9:30PM came around and they announced that the black lights were going to be turned on. I looked around and the bowling alley turned dark and colorful lights danced across each alley. They really hit the spot on Today's Top Billboard with the different genre of songs they were playing. The change in the atmosphere definitely influenced my mood as my friends and I sang along with most of the songs that were being played as we bowled. read more

Great place to bowl. The automatic scoring is great for the bowling novice. Just joined a league this spring. The bowling alley had a pro shop although I have not been in yet. Everyone had a ridiculous fun time. The concession stand was awful and completely forgot my pretzel. I arrived on a Saturday at 3 pm. At 10 pm they have a DJ that plays really good beats. They recently came back under control of the Langs family, so I feel like there are going to be many changes. Since AMF left, there has been some remodeling (not the bathrooms yet though). With an updated bar, live music, and new televisions in the bar and on the lanes, I think Langs is coming along quite nicely. It's always been my favorite place to bowl, I was in a league there a few years back, so I'm really excited for them to continue their improvements and get new business. First of all you must Check-In when you arrive. Super awesome deal going on right now, and if you check-in you get two free rounds of bowling with shoe rental! AND if your friends check-in, they'll get the deal too! My sister and I went on a Friday night right before Rock-N-Bowl. It was still busy but we were able to at least get a lane and were out before all the young kids arrived. The shoes creep me out in bowling ally's but for what it is, it is a super clean place. They're balls are pretty warn in (ha) and so are the lanes. Kept up well, and they even have a nice snack area. Looks like it could be super fun for the family. Guess what my Pokemon friends? It's a Pokestop! Because it is already a hot spot in the area, the Lure was continuous all night. As soon as one ended , another would start. Had a very unpleasant experience here yesterday, have come here many times and have never been treated so rudely. Me and the person I was with, brought our drinks to the bowling area and sat them on chairs next to us and immediately a worker says, "you have to leave your drinks on the table." So, fine we moved our drinks. Then, throughout the night, I was drinking some water, that I had in my purse. This worker came back again and said to the person I was with, "I'm speaking to him and not you." He then proceeded to say that I cannot drink my own water, I needed to purchase a water there and then I can drink it. Several workers kept coming over and bothering us the entire night, and one of them said "is there a problem over here." Basically I felt like this place would not leave us alone even though all we were doing was trying to bowl and have fun! Will not return! read more

I purchased the $25 voucher on Yelp and in turn got 2 hours of bowling and 2 shoe rentals. Perfect for a date night! We went on a Monday night and I don't know if Mondays are officially 90's night, but they played the best 90's music all night and it was awesome. I have an aversion to bowling but I was talked into going here one afternoon with the promise of craft beers and a fun bar setting. Let me be clear... the closest thing they had to craft beer was 'Gansett. So don't go here just looking for beer. You will be sad. The bartender wasn't unfriendly but certainly wasn't very welcoming either. It appeared that someone was having an engagement party or something in the bar- which made it confusing as to whether or not we could sit at the bar or if we needed to stay out. We bought beers and moved out of the bar. Upon checking in, I saw that there are some pretty good deals through Yelp for this place, so if you are going to hang around and bowl (I did not), you should check in... so that you can check it out. I did play pool. There was no chalk or other supplies, aside from sticks. The walls are such that you can't really hit balls from about 1/4 of the table. The game cost $1... so that kind of sucks. IMO if the table is going to be shoved off into a corner then they should only charge $0.25 or $0.50 just to keep kids off of it. Paying a full dollar kind of annoyed me. read more

Great spot, super convenient for those in the Providence. The lanes were nice and they had an afternoon special $8 all you can bowl including shoes which is a steal. They did have a food area and bar area which is convenient. They also, have televisions next to the scoreboards, while i'm not really a sports fans my friends sure were happy that they were able to catch Sunday Night Football while bowling. read more

I'm going to throw out a neg first. The music was way too loud. I had to yell at my friend the whole time who was sitting right next to me. A great Bowling ally! Cheap beer, great prices on 2 hours of bowling, and pitchers of beer. Worth a trip for sure! Be warned, The rock & bowl is powered by a Jukebox so it took a hour to crack into the heavy metal block of songs someone loaded up on, but we didn't care what sound track was fueling our beer and bowling. Just hit the Jukebox when you first walk in, cause that bad boy bottle necks. read more
