While this is a nice place to bring the kids especially for an affordable family outing, it is in dyer need of an update.

We looked online and it was 22/hr or $4 per person per game. We were going to prepay but he said to just pay at the end. Rather than charge for hour he charged us per person per game (3 of us, 3 games) which was significantly more money ($36 rather than $22). He said he would have had to set the timer if we opted for hourly but he never explained that. He was nice enough to take off 2 shoe rentals so it ended up being only $8 more. Overall fun place with old-school feel. Just a little pricey to pay per person. read more

For an old school bowling ally - this place was busy! As a fan only of duckpin bowling there really aren't many alleys that offer it in RI besides this one. The decor could use and update but far from outdated. They had a lounge area that offered liquor, and had a decent selection of food. We went for a birthday party. Being a guest, I notice they really slacked service. Overall- it was fun for the kids, but I wouldn't run back for a Sunday bowl on our own. read more

I love this place. Down-to-earth, local, very RI, and clean. The food, served by Captain Black (food concession), is so good. The brisket and ribs were amazing. The owners of the lanes and bar, plus Captain Black, are all accommodating. So strange that I live 7 minutes from here, and it is right across my fitness center, yet I've never been here before yesterday. I liked the place so much I recommended it as our company's holiday party venue. Everyone was happy. Plus, I enjoy duck pin bowling. More fun than ten pin!. This place should is a little known gem. Good for kids, too. I saw a dad with his small children, taking up a lane and enjoying themselves. TIP: If you can go in the afternoons, these are the quieter days and you'll have most of the lanes to yourselves. I have already planned on my return visit. read more

Meh. We had a playdate with our local moms group here and while the kids had fun the staff left much to be desired. The girl at the front desk was pretty rude about telling us their reservation policy. Apparently we made arrangements with the "wrong person", sounds like that is an internal problem and nothing something we should be reprimanded for. She also made us wait a long time to have the lanes turned on and ready to go. Fifteen 1-5 year old kids don't understand the concept of waiting their turn for almost 25 minutes, it was utter chaos. The lanes themselves could use some updating. There was duct tape holding our ball return together and we had multiple instances of the lanes not resetting with a full 10 pins. Overall I wasn't very impressed. I may come again but only because it's the closest duck pin bowling alley to my house. read more

Meadowbrook was *this* close to getting just two stars, but i just had too much fun there to do that to them. In fairness, my good time was more due to the group of bowling compatriots that accompanied me there, but a fun is fun. Rhode Islanders (really any east coaster) shouldn't need this explanation, but for others that might not know this, Meadowbrook features duckpin, not tenpin bowling (although there are 10 pins - they're just smaller and so is the ball that you throw at them). If you're not very good at bowling, this is a plus, because it's much tougher to bowl a high score in duckpin. Other Observations: - they allowed 'outside' food to be brought in (we got pizza delivered) - there is a bar somewhat attached to the alley - although dated, things are kept in fairly good repair read more

This is a no frills whatsoever bowling alley with the small balls. I had a groupon for up to 6 people to play so went to check it out. We made a reservation as they do have leagues on a Thursday night and they were very accommodating. This place is great for a low key fun night with friends. The best part is you can take in your own food. A lot of people in the league were bringing in pizza and take out so even though they sell food there they don't mind outside food. I kept thinking what a great place for a kids birthday party, so cheap and you can bring in some party pizza, cake, and drinks from elsewhere and this would save a lot of money. The person at the desk was really nice and got us set up quickly. Definitely would return in the future! read more

Great Bar! Drinks are very cheap! Most are $6 with the highest being $7 for Ciroc drinks. All shots are only $4 except Patron ($5)! There is usually entertainment on Saturday nights. Either bands or DJs and they have a cool alternative beer pong game called "Vert Pong" on Thursday and Saturday nights. On Sundays during football they serve free pizza and have the RedZone channel going. read more

Newly remodeled, its a nice little dive bar. Clean inside, cheap drinks, big screens....you could do much worse!

I have been going to Meadowbrook lanes for close to 40 years, off and on. But after today's visit, I do not think I will ever return. Instead of paying by the string, they offer the option to pay by the hour. We chose this option because we had our two grandchildren with us and we felt that it would be enough. We were assigned to lane #8. It took at least 5 minutes for the attendant to turn our lane on, then another 5 for him to turn our scoring system on. After that, the lane kept malfunctioning and hanging up. We had to send the guy back at least three separate times to reset things. Finally he moved us to lane #9. Things were fine until the system told us we were running out of time. We tried to finish but did not get through the 10th frame. The lane shut off on us. We calmly took our shoes back and told the guy they get a zero for satisfaction. He said "nothing I can do". I said we didn't even get 40 minutes. He said "nothing I can do". Never again. read more

Out on a Friday night for dinner and bowling. Only to arrive and see a underage group of kids hogging the balls from every lane with their red headed friend that works there. Yelling while doing karaoke and really creating an unpleasant environment. We played a couple games and had to leave since we could barely play with the chaos going on around us. We have been before and enjoyed our time very much. It's unfortunate that the establishment is being pretty much run by a teenager on Friday night. read more

We had a party 2 yrs ago and the 6-7 yo kids had a great time. We could bring our own food. Meadowbrook Lanes had forgotten about our party - although we had paid the $25 deposit and it was in their book - and we ended up setting up ourselves. However, after that, all was OK. There was one other party, but it was at the other end. We had a party this year for another child - same age. You had to buy the food from "Skippy's" - on the premises of the bowling alley, but a separate entity - not great and not "the lowest prices around". There was another party right up until the time of our party - which we didn't know about. So, our guests had to help us set-up & clean-up what was left from the other party - late. There were 2 other parties going on at the same time - very crowded. One of the other parties had a DJ - very loud. Most of the kids had fun - the parents who stayed did not. Meadowbrook Lanes really needs some cleaning (updates) too. We won't be having another party there. It was an unpleasant expereince for us and some of our guests. read more

I would give NO stars if I could. MONTHS ago, while we were booking our son's 5th birthday party, the woman helping us (Larissa) called her boss to see if we could have it on the day we wanted as there was a pro tournament that same day. The boss said sure, but only after 6pm. So we booked it. We were all so excited! So I ordered up 25 cute little bowling invitations and my son passed them out to all of his friends. Then I get a call on Monday saying that they CAN'T accommodate us. I had to remind Larissa that I WAS THERE when she called her boss and HE SAID IT WAS FINE. So I asked to talk to him, the boss. He DID NOT CARE AT ALL that he had nearly ruined my son's birthday party. Sure, he offered us a free party...on another date, to which i said, "but another date is NOT when his birthday is." No sympathy AT ALL. What an ass hat. I asked my husband if we should take the free party anyway (we booked the actual party at another bowling ally...Legion in Cranston. It blows Meadowbrook out of the water regardless of this) and he said "Why give them any sort of business at all?" Now, you may be thinking that at least they called us in advance. Sure, that's great, I guess. But it certainly did not eliminate the stress and panic I felt at finding out our son's party might not happen. read more
