Back in Feb. I originally had a Groupon to come here for a Brazilian and was SO nervous about testing out a new place, especially as an African American woman since we know our hair grows different. However, Maria was extremely pleasant and made it comfortable and it didn't hurt that bad either. This is a nice quiet place located inside of a condominium. The receptionist was kind when I entered. The personnel that did my wax was very friendly and talkative. My appointment was scheduled for an hour but it lasted 15 minutes. Overall it was a good experience and they have a special for fist time visitors to return when you check out. read more

DELIGHTFUL! Olga's Day Spa is a brand new hidden gem in the New Eastside / Lakeshore East area. I booked the "Just For Her" body treatment package ($251). It started off with a sublime combo Swedish/deep tissue massage by Olga herself. I've had dozens of massages by different therapists, and I can honestly say that this was one of the best. In a state of total relaxation, I made my way to a facial with Kasha. She took her time asking the right questions, analyzing my skin then proceeding with the right treatments. Yes, everything about the facial was perfect, but the real test was that days later, a friend asked me what I had done to my skin because it looked so good. The finishing touch of the Just For Her package includes a rose milk and honey mani/pedi, which I also enjoyed immensely. The staff here really takes there time with you, and services are individualized to your unique needs. I love the fact that it's a smaller spa - you don't feel like you're on an assembly line like you can with some of those chain spas. My regular waxer shortened her hours so I went here after getting a nice same day appointment...what a gem! I've been getting Brazilian waxes for over 2 years straight and I can say that it was fantastic here! It's sort of out of the way since Lakeshore East is almost all residential, but I would go back without question. Also, as far as waxes go the price was REALLY reasonable ($55) and even though I'm used to the pain, I appreciated that the aesthetician frequently checked in with me to make sure I wasn't suffering too much. read more

I recently had my hair, manicure & pedicure done in Olga's salon. The staff was excellent, loved the music. I purchased a groupon for a $25 Brazilian here. Normally I don't do groupon's for Brazilian's but it was right next to my apartment & I was desperate. Maria did an amazing job & I was out of there in 15 minutes. Obviously Brazilian's aren't the most pleasant things to have done but I've been pretty consistent with mine & she made it a piece of cake. Definitely my new go-to place in lakeshore east. Went in for a Brazilian wax (Groupon deal $25). The lady at the front desk knew my name because there don't seem to be anyone else in the waiting room and I got helped right away. Lady who did my wax was very nice and was easy to talk to while she was doing her job, however the actual wax itself wasn't the greatest. Mind you for $25, it wasn't bad. I had asked her if they also use hard wax and she said they do but she doesn't like waxing with it because it was not what she trained it. She left a lot of stray hairs and did not groom me very well/symmetrical. She also used a LOT of strips to wax everything. All in all, I wouldn't pay the money to go get a Brazilian full price here. read more

Got my first wax ever (I have never even plucked an eyebrow before) - in the form of a Brazillian! After reading so many horror stories online, I was terrified but knew I had to start sometime. But the staff made me feel very comfortable and the pain wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. I went completely bare without Advil or those numbing creams. It was only slightly red and not swollen at all - they use a blend of hard and soft wax depending on the spot - thanks for making my experience so enjoyable. Went back today on a living social coupon and was told I couldn't use it even though it clearly states in the fine print that anyone who hasn't been there in 4 months is allowed to use it. DO not buy anything or go there. They weren't even willing to work with me considering I had to drag my son with me to my appointment today. I've been getting a Brazilian from Maria every month or two for the past year and a half. She's been great and most of the time, the waxes come out great! Not always 100%, but I've always been happy enough to come back. I appreciate the fact that she listens if, for example, you tell her the wax it too hot. Haven't always had that at other places... Have tried many spa's however for price & service Olga's beats all! Like the easy to get to location especially if you live in East Lakeshore, so convenient. Olga is a knowledgeable professional who is an excellent masseuse and works on you for one full hour. You'll feel fabulous once she is done. Also had a fabulous facial from Tonya who customized the facial to my skin type. Gave me many good tips on how to better care for my skin, as she is recently trained and up to date on new products and techniques. I've received many facials where masks were applied & I was left waiting till they dried. Not at Olga's! While waiting for products to fully work I was given a full arm massage along with a neck & back massage. That's a great facial! Look forward to my next trip back. I've been going to this salon for pedicures and manicures for a few years and have always been pleased with the service, so when the salon's ownership changed, I was a bit concerned that the quality would be maintained. However, I had no reason to worry because Olga has created an even better place---with excellent service and a lovely, welcoming environment. I go to Michelle for the best pedicures I've ever had, but I have no doubt the other staff members would also provide equally excellent care. Olga's is a bit of a 'hidden treasure,' located in the 195 N. Harbor Drive condo building; however, it's just a short walk east on Randolph from Michigan Avenue, past Millennium Park. The #60 bus will also take you to the 155 N. Harbor Drive condo building which is just next door to the 195 building. I highly recommend Olga's Day Spa. Olga and her staff 'aim to please,' make you feel welcome, and provide excellent care in a beautiful, peaceful, intimate space. Try it! read more
