I enjoyed it. There is a line for a reason. Classic breakfast with a twist. You can get regular French toast but then they have cinnamon bun French toast and some infused with cream cheese or cheese cake, not sure. But the food I had which was the original French toast, hash brown casserole, two eggs and sausage, was good. ~$16 I think it was called the Vigilante. My family of 5 had plenty of food and juice for less than ~$80 with tip. 5.

Upon entering the restaurant, there was no wait for a table and was immediately seated. A couple minutes after I was given a menu, my waitress came by asking for my order. At that moment, I could only provide my coffee order. For some reason, the table was setup with coffee creamer but no sweeteners. I specifically asked for sweetener, but she forgot to bring any with the coffee. By the time she remembered, my first cup was half finished. I ordered the Texan with sausage. For my sides, the hash brown casserole and avocado slices. At other restaurants, the sausage would have been crumbled and mixed into the eggs. In the Texan, the sausage was cut into medium-sized cubes which were awkward to eat. The hash brown casserole was the best thing on the plate. They were unexpectedly a bit spicy.

Where to begin?! First, I'd like to start by saying that Old West Cafe's skillet choices don't receive the love they're due. The Philly Skillet with its bell peppers and mushrooms was a beautiful excuse to have the taste of a cheese steak in the morning. The Coosie easily became a breakfast favorite with its savory mix of gravy, biscuits, bacon & eggs. The blueberry pancake was my wife's so I can't speak to its taste but it did appear quite enjoyable. The atmosphere is very western, so there's need to dress fancy. Lastly, the servers are quite friendly so it's a place I'll definitely be returning to.

This place is amazing. Huge and delicious portions . The biscuit and gravy was good, the gravy a tad on the thin side but I enjoyed it and I'm picky about my gravy. The huge cinnamon roll was yummy. The blueberry pancakes were so big and really delicious!!! The hash browns perfectly crisp. They get you in and out pretty quickly so if there is a wait - stay and enjoy your meal!!!! Oh and our waitress was so sweet I wish I could remember her name . Very hospitable

Omg!!!! That's all I'm going to say. I can see why this place is packed. The food was so amazing!!! The service was great and I knew this place was great when they came out with a regular size cup for orange juice.

We were up in Grapevine and I wanted a Texas Cafe breakfast. Those are usually hard to find "in the big city" but we saw Old West and went in. A table for two was immediately available, I felt sort of bad for the larger groups waiting outside... after those three seconds of self torment, we were seated and this adventure began. I thought I ordered a "normal" sized breakfast. The Bronco is one flapjack, two eggs, two of one meat and a side. Two plates and a skillet later, it was on the table. The flapjack is a meal in itself. Everything was yummy. Couldn't eat it all. Will be back!

Old West has become our stop when we pick up our son at the airport. They have great Texas food with a Texas ambiance. The service is also "Texas." Many natives pride ourselves for being friendly. So far, all of our servers have been super friendly! I got the Bandit, two eggs, bacon, biscuits n gravy. It was delicious! My son got some pumpkin flapjacks. He tore them up, so I expect he liked them! This is a 13 minute drive from DFW terminal, and is a good and affordable breakfast!

Such a cute western themed spot!! I love all the decor. The staff was very friendly. We tried a variety of dishes and most were good except the Texas toast was not that good. It was just plain. I wouldn't mind going back and trying other dishes.

I ordered the Cowpoke with a cinn-a-swirl jack. The scrambled egg was cooked to perfection (I like my eggs dry..and at home I always have to burn them a little to get it..here they were perfect..not burned, not wet). And the flap jack? It was HUGE, and the cinnamon swirl was crusted into the pancake. Everything was delicious!

This place gets really packed. Especially on a Sunday, you might want to come in before 10 AM. Once you walk in, you are greeted and either seated or they will take your name. Once you get seated, the staff is really friendly and ready to get your order taken care of. The food is really delicious. I would really recommend the hash brown casserole. It was awesome. The inside gets extremely loud. On this visit, there were children, crying, and screaming, the only major drawback. The lighting is somewhat dim, and the tables are somewhat small. Definitely give them a try and take my recommendation to come early.

Old West Cafe has a lot on their menu but it's mostly the traditional food items which if done right is perfectly fine. They really need a bigger parking lot and it felt very crowded inside. The food came out fairly quickly considering how many people were there. My boyfriend and I both got omelets and really enjoyed them and the fresh made salsa makes such a difference. Nice breakfast spot if your going more traditional.

We decided to try this place after reading the reviews. It did not disappoint. The breakfast was very good. On the menus they have plenty of choices which made it difficult to decide but by the looks of all the tables around us you can't go wrong. The kids pancake is probably 12". read more

This has been my favorite spot for home cooking until recently when the menu changed. Most sides are still available and taste good, but meatloaf no longer has red eye gravy-very disappointed. Pot roast now just mediocre as well. Stick to breakfast and you won't b disappointed. Best omelette and pancakes in town. read more

First time in Grapevine. Hubby and I always try to new restaurants and rely on yelp reviews. We were there early on Thursday, only us and 2 other tables. This place was good! The wait was about 10 mins but as soon as we were seated we were able to put our orders in. I was hungry and the amount of food was great!!! It started out very poorly, we got a table shaped like Texas, try and put a cup of coffee on that! So we asked to move and they were more than happy to move us. That is where it all began, a cup of hot tasty coffee, a glass of ice cold water, boom good start! Than we ordered, uh oh long wait, 15 minutes not really that long. Then or food arrived, by a runner (not my favorite), however everything was perfect! The food was AWESOME!!!! The service was spot on and the price was right! I WILL GO AGAIN AND TAKE OTHERS WITH ME!!!!! read more

I'm paying to leave and I couldnt leave a review fast enough. Been to plenty of brunch spots in the United States and I havent expierence a place like this. Although a very very long wait time, and insanely busy atmosphere. I started with saying "I'll never come to a place like this" and ended with I'll never go anywhere else. Our waiter Danny was someone who provided a 10 star service, not 5. Quickly ordering the kids first so they didnt have to wait. To getting our drinks and meal shortly after. Constantly checking in our table. Refilling the drinks and when I mean the place is busy I mean BUSY!, he found time to keep us feeling like VIP's eating. The food on top of the service was equally amazing. The pancakes, kids meal options, fried chicken and french toast was all so tasty and warmly prepared. Cant wait for the next visit. P.s. it ended with a God Bless and have a great Thanksgiving. As should be said in all America. Thanks Danny! You were amazing read more

Usually do breakfast, but today tried one of their burgers. Got the Jesse James with sourbough bread, bacon, lettuce, cheese and mustard. One side comes with burgers chose onion rings. Burger and onion rings were delicious. One change on next burger order will be change sourdough bread to a white bun. read more

Our NEW place to eat breakfast or lunch. We are definitely going back again and again until we try everything that sounds good to us on the menu.....which is pretty much everything. This place is a laid back, home style and friendly place t visit. The decor is Texas home like and they have the text wait feature. It gets packed so be prepared to wait a bit. Amazingly delicious breakfast. Had French Toast, the Big Hose, filled with peanut butter and bananas, dipped in almond crunch batter and served with chocolaty syrup and cinnamon powder sugar, it was from heaven. Best breakfast food I have ever eatan at any restaurant.... my 9 year old devoured kid's pancake meal, it was huge and also delicious. Friendly and fast service, our server Stephanie was totally natural and awesome. Wall art and signs are very entertaining Family owned, has 5 locations in Texas. A must to put it on your bucket list. I love when the family owned businesses succeed and kick the chain restaurants b... this is try one of them. You go guys!! read more

We went to Old West Cafe for a late Sunday brunch. It was very busy with people waiting outside to be seated. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated, but it was well worth the wait! The decor is a fun, old west theme. We both ordered ham omelettes with hashbrowns and cinnamon sugar toast. There were a large number of sides to choose from. Our food was excellent and the service was great. The menu had so much to choose from. I know we will be back often. read more

This location was rather nice. You get the home grown environment and very funny signs throughout the building. The waitresses were polite and the wait wasn't too bad. The prices were fair and they were quick to service you. I had the country fried steak which was about average size and just a tad bit too dry for my taste and that is why i give it a 3 star rating. Cafes should always have amazing CFS. On the other hand the green beans weren't that nasty fake can textures other places serve you , these were delicious. The mashpotatos were amazing as well as the gravy so no complaints there. You are able to play checkers while you wait on your server, i reccomend getting some bananas and strawberries they are so fresh and delightful. Try this place it's worth the drive and wait. read more

We were told it was a 25 minute wait. We were seated in less than that time. Jeanette was our waitress and went over the menu with us - she was friendly and made breakfast enjoyable. The food came out promptly exactly as ordered! Awesome flavors - did not disappoint. read more

History

Established in 1999.

The year was 1999, and I was working 80 hours a week in the corporate world! (I am sure many of you can relate!) I rarely spent time with my children and husband, and time was just passing on by! My husband always knew I wanted to own my own little cafe, so one day, out of the blue, he came home with my very own key to my very own cafe! WOW! That's how Oldwest Cafe was born! Even as we grow a bit, I never forget where we started, what a hard road it was getting here, and how hard we all need to work to try not to lose that happy feeling ya'll get when you walk through our doors! We want to treat people just the same way we want to be treated back, kindly and with the utmost respect. So all you mighty fine Cowgirls and Cowboys, saddle up that horse and hit the trail for Oldwest Cafe! Pretty darn sure y'all might like it! And if ya don't, well, that's okay too, cause even I know that ya can't please em all! So, Happy Trails and get down to the Oldwest and take a load off!

Also took a bottle of GH Mumm Grand Cordon, which also did not taste as anticipated. I made reservations earlier this week for today (4/19) at 11:30. I made the reservations using the…read morelink on the restaurant's website. I received a text message confirming the reservation. I arrived today, only to be told by the extremely rude hostess that "they don't do reservations on the weekend, just a waitlist, and that my 11:30 reservations just added me to the waitlist." She proceeded to tell me that the wait was 45 minutes. I was confused, I showed her my confirmation text. She said again, "That's wrong." Based on her tone and facial expressions I'm going to assume this was a line she had used several times this Sunday. We left, went to J Macklins across the street and took the 4 people waiting behind us with us as well. They had also made reservations and were told that, "the reservations don't mean anything." I'm not sure what business model Hemingways is following, but it isn't working.

What can I say that other Yelpers haven't already said? Everything I have had here has been very good. My favorites are the OWC chicken salad which could feed a small country, the chicken fried steak topped with biscuits and gravy, and the flapjacks that are as big as your face and deliciously fluffy. The food is seriously great here. If you love breakfast food and have not been here, you have no idea what you are missing. Good old fashioned giant portions of anything you could possibly want. If you want to experience Old West, I highly recommend either going before 8am or after 1 because the crowds are crazy. Weekdays are better, but I have never been to Old West when the dining room wasn't full, and we usually go from the office at 1 and they close at 2. We tried on a weekend once, but there was a 2.5 hour wait. When we go at lunch during the week, it is crowded but we have never had to wait. I will let you know something personal about me. I hate crowds. Like HATE crowds. We go to the beach in the winter, go to amusement parks about 2 hours before close, etc. Anything to avoid locations where hoards of people tend to gather. So in order for me to frequent a restaurant where there are always crowds, the food has to be worth it. read more

This piece of Trash was kicked out of the Bedford location for calling an African American man a Monkey. Then the owner decides to send this peasant to grapevine. Every shift I worked with him was very uncomfortable. After bringing it up several times to management, nothing was done about it because he's the owner niece's boyfriend. so l decided to quit and he's still there, coughing in his hands and touching his nasty greasy hair while touching food. Also no one's allowed to eat!! The owner had the nerve to say 8 hours without eating won't kill you!!! They treat the whole staff like they're nothing, but disappears for about 30 to 45 minutes to get high in their car. They've been spotted twice by employees smoking on a pipe. They were very busy when I arrived on a Saturday morning that I had about a 25 minute wait... They were understaffed, and I saw my server enough to order my food and get my bill at the end, but he never checked up on me to find out that there was something wrong with my meal. They had too many tables crammed together in too small a space, and other people were lacking basics like salt+pepper and syrup that *two* other tables had to borrow the supplies off of my table. To top this all off, the restroom was *FILTHY* and when I walked in there, I could *FEEL THE OILY FLOOR* DISGUSTING! Just because a place is packed does not make it a good place to eat. I came here earlier with my mom and my husbands mom and our 4 kids to celebrate Mother's Day and although the food was alright and not the best our amazing waiter who had long brown hair and a stubble beard( sorry didn't get his name) but he was amazing! I tipped him well so the service was great! But the pancakes were dry and the country fried steak was basically all batter and not steak! But otherwise than that the other food my kids ordered and husband (French toast), cinnamon roll and salad was really good! Wish I ordered that instead! I've visited Old West Cafe 2 times now, and both times and both meals have been amazing! This morning, I ordered the Cowpoke. They have several options for the pancakes, so I picked the Cinnamon Multi-grain pancake. It was delish!! Loved it! The place is always packed, and even on a Thursday at 10am, we still had to wait a few minutes for parking-no parking in the overflow parking either! The daily crowds speak for themselves! Old West Café is a must-visit! The portions are huge, the prices are super reasonable, and the staff is amazing--so friendly and on top of everything. I had the Warrior French Toast and the biscuits and gravy, and both were absolutely incredible. Gold Fields French Toast. BAM! That's all you need to know about this place. One bite of this almond-crisp french toast and you're hooked. It comes with eggs and your choice of bacon/sausage/ham, but all you really need is the french toast. I kid you not, the best plate of french toast topped with bananas & whipped cream!
