Other times I'm just in the mood for a cocktail that reminds me why I don't waste my time at places that think whiskey and cola is "craft." This visit was all about the cocktails, and Seven Grand absolutely delivered. Josh, our bartender, was running the room like a conductor leading an orchestra of happy whiskey drinkers. He asked what we liked, made a couple of recommendations for Old Fashioneds based on our preferences, and absolutely nailed it. Every drink was balanced, flavorful, and dangerously easy to sip. The guy knows his whiskey, knows his cocktails, and somehow still manages to make everyone at the bar feel like they're his only customer. The whiskey selection is enough to make a bourbon nerd lose all sense of financial responsibility, but surprisingly, we escaped without needing to refinance the house. If Josh doesn't own Seven Grand, someone should probably look into fixing that. Until then, I'll keep showing up to "try just one drink"... knowing full well that's a lie I tell myself every single time. Highly recommend. I believe the chips and salsa were made by the food truck that is outside. The Mac and cheese was good but a little overwhelming with the thickness and amount of cheese sauce put on it. The chicken wings were very good, well cooked with great crisp on the outside and soft and delicious on the inside. My favorite item were the sliders though. Both styles were really good and for $5 each it is a great value. I enjoyed my experience at Rocket Spirits and will be back to try more of their food and drinks.

That's the purpose of calling ahead and making reservations, to let them get prepared for you. Work _with_ the establishment, not against it, and they'll take care of you. It's not reasonable to just walk in without giving them warning, then complain about the result. That's on you.

They are a Pre-Prohibition style cocktail bar but can whip up some off menu cocktails as well. The vibes here are always fantastic as well. Unfortunately, despite all this high praise I must say our visit this trip left us with a good amount of disappointment. The bartender and bar-back for this visit lacked the same expert over the top experience we have previously had. My wife did enjoy having the gin fizz but was her least favorite version she has had at Union Lodge. I will keep the five stars for past visits and will return, but disappointed overall this trip.

My girl had a burger called the slopper which came open faced and she wasn't used to that. She substituted the simple salad for her fries and enjoyed that. She said the burger had good flavor but she didn't like the "no bun" I had the Classic Cheeseburger and I added bacon and also had mine with thousand island dressing. The table we sat at was a little strange as it was kind of a circle booth but the table had corners at the back side that made it hard to get out of. The bun on my burger was not very good, being dry and seemingly stale but the burger itself was good. Not a bad experience otherwise, and the joint was cool.
