My boyfriend and I decided to take my dad here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We had eaten here before and the breakfast was delicious. We knew it would be busy on a weekend during lunch rush, so we expected to wait and asked for inside seating. We were told the wait would be 15-20 minutes. After 20 minutes, we were told it would be an additional 10 minutes unless we wanted to sit outside (other families who arrived after us had already been seated outside as we waited). We decided to go ahead and sit outside where we waited another 15 minutes with no one coming by to get us drinks or even let us know that they would be with us soon. By this time, tables emptied inside and it was frustrating to see that we could have just sat inside since we weren't being helped anyway. The straw on the camel's back was that a busser cleaning tables inside took water glasses off a dirty table, leaned over the railing next to our table, and threw the water across the sidewalk and into the planter next to the patio. I used to be a server, and this was considered a bio hazard in previous restaurants where I had worked. Plus, it just looked classless and put a sour taste in our mouths. We ended up walking out. Ultimately, we were really disappointed since we loved the food here before. We wouldn't have minded waiting if they had communicated with us beforehand what the realistic wait would have been. The dealbreaker was having dirty water thrown right next to us while we waited at our table. We don't plan to come back after this experience and wouldn't recommend it to any of our friends or family. read more

I really enjoyed this charming little restaurant in downtown Camarillo. It is only open for breakfast and lunch. The food there is really very good. Went there for lunch on a weekday and the service was excellent. I ordered the "Tuscan" off the lunch menu. It's grilled chicken with melted provolone cheese served on a toasted panini with basil pesto, spinach and tomato - quite delicious. It comes with a choice of sides, and I ordered the sweet potato fries. This is something you don't see everywhere and they were really a treat. Been here a couple times now for breakfast. We like to come here before we go to the Farmer's Market on Saturdays. Everything we've tried has been excellent. Last time, my daughter had the French toast, which was exceptional. I've had a breakfast burrito and an combo meal with eggs,bacon, potatoes and pancakes. They make a very good pancake, which is hard to find. Their service is great and they are quick with the coffee refills. It's a little place, so sometimes you might have to wait a bit. We sampled a few things... *CHICKEN & WAFFLES: 3 pieces of smallish sized chicken pieces with a crunchy sweet batter and moist, tender meat. Waffle was the classic Belgian waffle, thick and slightly doughy. Outer shell was mildly crispy. Roscoe's it's not, but meal was still tasty, albeit a bit small. Not much chance of inducing the same kinda "food coma" I get eating at Roscoe's. But if you're looking for a local Camarillo quick fix of Waffle & Chicken, this and Hidden Cafe are your only options. *BAJA STYLE EGGS BENEDICT: Flavorful variation of the classic Benedict. Love the kick the smoky chipotle hollandaise sauce had. Combined with the chorizo and fresh avocados, it was a wonderful mix of flavors. *HASH CAKES: Had a nice flavor to it, but not as gooey as I had hoped. Not so crunchy either. Great food, quick seating and quick service! This is such a small hidden gem that I absolutely loved and I will be back. We ordered our food and got it within few minutes. I got the eggs benedict with sausage with the mojo potatoes, which were so good!!! I also got a caramel iced latte, which was really delicious. It was the perfect amount of sweetness and left me wanting more. My boyfriend got an omelet with sausage, tomato, bacon and avocado with mojo potatoes as well. He liked his food as well but he never got the side of toast he ordered, so next time we will make sure to ask about it while ordering. I came here with my family the other week for breakfast. I haven't stopped thinking about how delicious the bacon pancakes were. I have never been a huge fan of pancakes because I have never had these up until that moment. The pancakes were perfectly cooke, fluffy, bacon bits scattered all throughout. It had powder sugar dusted on top which may sound a little off but it matched beautifully with the bacon and the pancakes, I think my draws came off a little when I tasted them. The restaurant itself is very small however so there isn't a lot of space, I personally didn't mind at all but I would keep that in mind. I forgot the waiters name but I remember he was very kind, the area it's in is also very nice and it's near the outlets if you want to do some shopping after. DELICIOUS. I dunno how else to describe the food! My husband and I were in town for my best friends wedding and the Old Town Cafe is right next to our hotel, so, we figured we'd try them out. I had a OTC Hash Cake (UH-mazing!) while my husband ordered eggs Benedict and a OTC Hash Cake on the side. Omg we were hurting because we kept stuffing ourselves! Went back this morning and I had the eggs Benedict with sausage while he tackled the French toast. Again - they knocked it out of the park! Nice and welcoming staff! I ordered the everything bagel on wheat with a sunny side up egg & I would definitely recommend. My boyfriend got the eggs Benedict with ham, also a great choice. I was able to call beforehand and picking up my order was a breeze. Prices are very reasonable and if you check in on Yelp you can even get a free fountain drink. Decided to try some breakfast through door dash. I was extremely disappointed. I ordered breakfast from Denny's just a few days prior and it was great. Here are the key differences. Denny's gave full set of plastic ware. Old town gave a SPOON and knife no fork. Denny's gives those little jams or jelly with toast. Old town sent melted butter. The omlete I ordered looked worse than an omlete I'd make myself and I'm not a chef by any means. It was nothing more than over cooked eggs that were flat, made like an omlete but with the bacon, mushrooms and cheese put on top of the omlete after the omlete was cook. It was rubbery as well. I ordered a side of biscuits and gravy. I received A single cut in half biscuit and water with lots of pepper. I love supporting small business but not when it is such poor quality. read more

Went here on New Year's Day for breakfast because it was one of the few places open and dog friendly, per the reviews on Yelp. Before our 2 mile walk there we called to confirm they allowed dogs in their patio. They answered right away and confirmed. Once we arrived, we were greeted by the friendliest staff, and they all came to say hello and pet our dog. The food, was great, had egg whites and a potatoes and cheese tart, and a side of the berry French toast. The food was great but could not enjoy the French Toast much because it was freezing outside and by the time I started to eat it it got cold. Will definitely go back again and try it again. The other guests that arrived with dogs after we did were very nice. The environment and friendliness of the staff is refreshing and will have to come back again. read more

I visited Old Town Cafe for the first time today. I don't know why I did not visit sooner but at least I finally tried it. The place was very busy at about 8:15 am. There was not a wait but very few tables were open. The place seats maybe 25-30 inside and there are a few tables outside. I found a 2 person table and sat and waited. The server greeted me even though she was swamped. I waited maybe 5-10 minutes and then the server took my drink order and gave me a menu. I was surprised that my server was the only worker outside the kitchen. She was the only server and also the cashier. I waited maybe another 10 minutes to have my order taken. The food came out hot and fast. I did notice that a group of four had to get their own silverware after their drink ordered arrived. Other people got up to ask the waitress for more coffee including my self which came immediately after the request. All this being said, the server was working hard but overwhelmed. Tables were not cleaned off while I was there. One more server would have made all the difference in the world for the one server and the customers. The facility was very nice inside and out. I love the little outside seating. I orded the "Sunrise Special" that included 2 eggs, meat (bacon), toast (english muffins-they did not have white toast), potatoes (I ordered the OTC Hash Cakes which was beyond delicious). I would come here for the hash cake alone as it was that good.(Hash Cake is Hash Brown potatoes mixed with diced ham, onions, bell peppers & melted cheese all baked to gooey perfection and topped with a cheese crust). Everything was delicious and the coffee was good too. Trying to pay was a little challenging as the server remained busy but everything was worth the wait. I was in and out in about 45 minutes or so. I think all breakfast places are over priced but in comparison to other places I have tried in Ventura county it is about average price for a good breakfast out. Will I try Old Town Cafe again and hope the service is not as limited as today? You bet. I highly recommend Old Town Cafe and hope they take my recommendation to heart. If their limited server issue is addressed, I will happily upgrade this Cafe to 5 stars. read more

Service was slow, forgetful and not super pleasant. Food was greasy mediocre and flavorless. The huevos rancheros were a joke. Such a hidden gem with small town hospitality! They had me when I saw smoky chipotle hollandaise sauce on the menu. Great place! I had lunch here and ordered the grilled tuna. It was delicious ! The tuna had chopped vegetables in it, is light on the Mayo and comes with tomatoes and avocado too. You get a choice of a side and I ordered the side salad with balsamic-based dressing. The salad was good also with fresh greens and a tasty but light dressing. To top it off I ordered a nonfat cappuccino. It was amazing! It tasted like the ones I've had in Italy. Authentic and delicious. The service was excellent too.
