Old Stein Short Rib Sauerbraten
Kenya G.

Came here for dinner while visiting my in laws and I was very happy with the experience. The food was all delicious and I thought the menu had some good options. We got the jagersnitzel and the short rib saurbraten. Both were flavorful and what I expect from German food. Service was friendly and for the most part quick although we waited quite awhile to cash out. The outdoor seating is spacious and inside had such a nice vibe to it. Will be back!

I mean not much going on in Edgewater but this place was BUSSIN. FAST GERMAN FOOD AND DRINK. Good vibes all around. Heavy food for the hungry folks. Fave of the night was the most tender short rib. Easy cut. Omggggg A must go!

Old Stein Sampler Platter

We went to Old Stein Inn for their Oktoberfest. We were a tad disappointed in what we drove 40 minutes for - the entertainment wasn't the best, no one was dressed up, there weren't any specials. The atmosphere was cute though, and we were grateful to have been able to bring our dogs! The beer selection is decent, as was the European wine selection. I enjoyed an Oktoberfest beer flight and a Raspberry lambic that was on tap. For food we split the currywurst, which was delicious. I ordered for dinner the sampler platter. The schnitzel was good, the spaetzle was nothing special, the bratwurst was good, and I enjoyed the red cabbage but the smoked pork chop was actually terrible- it tasted like I was eating smoke and was so dry. I do not recommend getting the platter for that reason. My boyfriend got the pork shank and that was unbelievably amazing- so tender and moist. We both agreed that was the best item of the night. Our waitress was super nice but I wish she would have popped around more often. If you're near here, I'd say pop in but be ready for the prices. It's not worth a special trip though in my opinion.

Schnitzelwich. Breaded chicken schnitzel, ham, cheese, & mustard. With fries.

We get to Old Stein only once in a while, although we always enjoy the food. I made an online reservation to take my husband there for a late lunch today for Father's Day. As expected, it was crowded and the servers were hustling. We had asked for seating in the main dining room, so they gave us a mini two-top booth, which was fine. Our server came by almost immediately, and we gave her our whole order right away. We knew the kitchen would be backed up. We ordered two Kolsch beers. Our one food request was that the appetizer be served first. We ordered the citrus shrimp skewer to share. My husband ordered the Jagerschnitzel for his main dish. I ordered the Schnitzelwich, a breaded chicken schnitzel that comes on a bun with ham, cheese, & mustard, plus fries. We sipped our beers and relaxed. After some time, the server came to check on us and noted that we did not have the appetizer yet. When she went to check on it, they were plating up our main orders. The appetizer came out last. But she went to the manager to make it right, and they comped it. Our food was excellent, as always; portions are huge. We took some home for dinner. We really appreciated how we'll we were taken care of and that they worked hard to make it right after a glitch in timing on such a busy day.

What a lovely place! Come for a birthday in Jan and their indoor/outdoor beer garden layout was the best way to enjoy as a large group. Beer menu was extensive, food menu even larger & the food did not disappoint! Apps: potato pancake, pretzel and meat/cheese platter. Entree: pork schnitzel Will definitely be back in the summer to check out the vibes then!

Pretty packed, didn't feel like a super memorable experience altho the place is cute and the food is tasty, authentic German cuisine.

Food tends to be salty. Nothing vegetarian except salads. Service good as is beer selection and atmosphere. Not as loud as many pubs.

Loved the food and beer and atmosphere. The apple strudel is amazing. I will be back for Octoberfest, for sure.

One of the only places to get sour beef and dumplings. And their selection of beer was off the hook. Nice setting as well.

Carryout "Sampler" @ $30+ was good, but I thought expensive. Will return, to dine in.

There was just too much on the menu to not try so we kept coming back. Here is a rundown of the food and drink at Galway's. First night I went with the Galway Bay's Signature Irish Dexter Burger. There is even an advertisement for the burger on the back of the men's toilet stall! That is how much they hype this burger up. The burger was indeed delicious, and you can make room for a drink or two at these authentic Irish Bar. Now, the bad news is I tried two different beers on tap and both tasted funky. The have another bar to the left of the main entrance and I did have a beer there on a different occasion and it was fine. I really can't explain why on the first night both beers tasted bad, perhaps they need to clean the tap or something hence the once star deduction. On the last night here, I had the Irish Spice Bag, this is described on the menu as a popular takeout dish in Ireland. It was full of spice and in a bag for sure and once shaken and poured out it had a lot of flavor (the fries and chicken) be forewarned though definitely not low sodium. My girlfriend ordered the Shepherd's pie twice. We both noticed the inside meat under the potatoes was extremely dark in color. Not sure why that was but it was full of a deep distinct flavor of mouthwatering meaty deliciousness. Not a light dish by any means however a quality example of Shepherd's Pie. I highly recommend this spot if you are looking to try something different as the menu is full of fun items. As always people SYOY!!!
