I was waiting to try Old Scratch Pizza Neapolitan Style. I enjoyed the Pepperoni (Dayton), Mr. Scratch, Margarita, and Cheese Pizza known as The Elliott. The Angry Beekeeper was the most spicy one. Old Scratch bakes their pizzas in a brick oven unlike other pizza places. The leader of the non-profit in Columbus suggested Old Scratch and was not disappointed. The Caesar Salad was great with their homemade dressing. When I am in Dayton, I will have to check out Old Scratch Pizza with some friends. Thank you so much.

About $30 for a pizza and one cider(or beer). Pizza is about big enough for 2. You order, pay and get a number. Then you move down the line and wait again to order a beverage and pay. Get prompted to tip twice(for the food order, and again for the separate drink order) They have bench seating and long tables or 4 seat tables. I came here because I was nearby, this original location has not been my favorite. I tried to ask for a box when I ordered and got the answer that I could have one later, or get it to go. I replied that I was just trying to save someone some work later as I was planning on eating some now and taking the rest. The cashier looked at me like I had 3 heads and smirked condescendingly. That I could do without. They have 3 wood fired pizza ovens, really cool to take a look and see it in action. A few TVs up near the bar. One gal busting A handling the entire seating area with delivering food to the tables. It was kept clean promptly too. She should get the tips!! The pizza was very good, super thin crust, with fresh ingredients. I got the Angry Beekeeper, with hot honey, fresh basil, salami and 2 cheeses. It was delicious.

I ordered the BLT wrap and it was awful. The wrap its self is literally pizza crust wrapped around lettuce and tomato. The bacon is actually bacon bits. So it felt like I was just eating lettuce and a few tomatoes. My boyfriend had to remake me the wrap. Unfortunately we didn't have bacon so I had to eat the bacon bits but he made it so I didn't have to eat the pizza cr

This was the best vegan pizza I've ever had. And the closest one in flavor to pizza in Italy. The dough is delicious, the tomatoes are the best quality, definetly imported from Italy. We really liked the concept of the place, delicious pizza with a full bar. The design is pretty modern, with long tables and cool utensils/napkin/plates kits on each table. What brought me there was a separate section of the menu dedicated to vegan pizza, this is very rare, so I've had to try how is it. The best hands down. With a glass of cold beer, it was the most amazing end of the long day at the Hocking Hills State Park. My husband also enjoyed his pizza and beer. We both agreed it was one of the best we've had so far in US. Knowing that they have 4 locations around Midwest, I'll make sure to visit them in the future while traveling in this area.

We've heard a lot of good things about this place and so we had to try it out during UD family weekend. The white pie was SO GOOD.Crispy crust with the perfect amount of flavor. Dayton pizza had my FAVORITE type of pepperoni which is the small slices. The crust on this one wasn't as firm as the white pie but was just as flavorful. Service was fast, pizza was hot and we were really happy with this wood fired pizza joint. Was super nice to have the option to sit inside or out since the weather was nice.

Delicious wood fired pizza! Large, open space with plenty of seating both tables on their own and community style seating. You order at the front and they bring the pizza to you. We got the margherita pizza and an additional margherita pizza that we added olives and Calabrian chili - pro tip if you like some spice! Pizza was crisp and delicious. Overall highly recommend!

We were in for a bowling tournament and Old Scratch was right down the road. We arrived on time because after we sat down people starting lining up. Pizza came out fast and hot. First-timer, visiting from Louisiana for work. My colleagues always talk about Old Scratch so I had to try it for myself. Very busy Tuesday but I was greeted upon entry, quickly served at the bar where I ate and enjoyed a glass of wine, and my pizza came out fast. Let me tell you, their pizza was one of the best I've had. I highly recommend giving them a shot at earning your business.

We have been to the Centerville location but this was our first time at the Dayton Old Scratch and it was hopping! When we first walked in, we didn't see any tables but the manager greeted us as we stood in line to order, asked how many in our party, pointed to the table we should take, then went over and cleaned it off himself. Throughout the evening, he was helping out with whatever was needed and greeting customers. We ordered our pizzas and they came out hot and delicious a little while later. So, order the bigger pizza.

Old Scratch is exactly what Dayton needed. Chain pizza places are kinda gross in my opinion, so the Neapolitan-style pies were a welcomed change to the area. Super casual, order-at-the-counter spot with communal picnic bench seating. Pizza selection is super unique, the ingredients are always fresh, and I haven't had a bad pie yet. Angry Beekeeper is HIGHLY recommended. The bar is always serving up 15+ amazing in-season beers on tap, which is truly what makes this place my favorite. Online ordering for pickup is super easy to use, plus they send monthly deals out to loyal customers. Also, great patio in the warmer months! read more

We feel so lucky to have this close by. My family has been gluten free for over 5 years since we found out our oldest son has an allergy. It is getting better out there in the gluten free world but one thing that always left us pining for gluten was pizza crust. Until now. This is the best gluten free pizza. Only one other, in Michigan, can compare but it was a deep dish style. This is real dough, assuming not pre bought but made in house, and cooked in their signature fire hot oven. Complete with a crunchy yet chewy "handle", crust bubbles, perfect slice fold-ability, char spots, and all. Laid back seat yourself atmosphere with a chill vibe. Price point seems to be right on for what you are getting. I always personally feel violated at the extreme up charge for gluten free pizza crust and there is no exception here except to say that it is actually worth it. Very worth it.The salads are done well. They are large, full of fresh ingredients, and simple. Nothing complicated. Just good salads. We love the roasted cauliflower appetizer as well as the roasted olives. I personally eat very low carb so I get a full salad for myself then we do a cauliflower appetizer with a side of hot pizza sauce and maybe the olives too. I'm so full that one (ok 2) slices of pizza is enough. The Shroom pizza and Mr.Scratch pizza are our favorite but classic pep mushroom is close behind. They do not skimp on topping offerings and they follow through by using fresh ingredients and topping the pizza adequately. I do wish they would have an option to top the roasted califlower with cheese and maybe even a topping or two. Plus an option to sub out the fresh bread that comes with salads and certain appetizers for gluten free pizza crust strips or something of that nature. read more

I came here with coworkers and ordered the Angry Bee Keeper and it was terrible. It smelled terrible and the sauce was not good. I can confidently say that this was the least appealing pizza I ever attempted to eat in my life. I took two bites and couldnt eat anymore. I don't know if it's because we ordered this for delivery or if it is the food itself, but this was just "eh..ok". I definitely expected it to be MUCH better based on reviews. The salad was like a little bit of lettuce thrown into a box, and the Margherita pizza left a lot of something to be desired. And the crust was PAPER THIN. I wouldn't waste my money on this. Great quality food. I can't recall when I've enjoyed a vegetable more than their roasted cauliflower, and really, cauliflower is typically low on my veggie list. I don't keep yelp on my phone, but I had to sing their praise today, I was so impressed. The pizza we got had some lady name, it had bacon and fresh mozzarella, onion jam and it was sooooo good, too. The crust is chewy and fresh like Pizanellos but a little thinner. I did not fine the toppings skimpy, and I found the pizza prices especially reasonable for the size. $20 wasn't bad to leave so stuffed with quality food. We will be back. I'm sorry Dayton but this place isn't as fantastic as you say it is. Love the ambiance and the location and the ovens but the pizza is just ok for artisan wood fired pizza. The much ballyhooed cauliflower was a mess for us. The first one they brought was so salty that it was inedible. The 2nd one was bland. I do wish it would have been better. Great place to have a beer and bring a group/family for a meal though. read more

The pizza is great, beer selection is excellent! Service at the bar is always awesome. Anytime they have a veggie special it's always worth trying! The salads are also fantastic, and I usually hate paying for salads but I always get one here! The Olympus salad is fab! Their special pizzas are always a hit, super inventive ingredients. Kids pizza is also great. We've had private events here as well and they're always super accommodating with fantastic service and reasonable prices. The soft serve ice cream is always a nice treat! read more

GLUTEN FREE LISTEN TO ME: I'm Celiac, eaten lots of GF pizza. Nothing compares. I was nervous. It tasted too "real" Me and me husband asked 2 different managers to confirm GF. Another pizza joint that somehow manages to serve unique fare. My party ordered the Angry Beekeeper, Mr. Scratch, Fried Bologne, and Sophisticated Mae. All of the topping combinations were excellent. The crust was paper thin and extra, extra crispy. Only complaint in this area, is that the toppings do not extend close to the edge, so you get about a third of crust to topping ratio. Also, some substantial paper plates would be nice. They currently have small side plates on each table, but even the small slices do not fit. For drinks, we ordered a couple of the local brews and the Some Like It Hot cocktail. The cocktail was very sour/citrus in the most unpleasant way. Tasted borderline medicinal to me. I will never pay eleven bucks for that cocktail again. The management has some kinks to work out as far as the ordering process is concerned. The menus are on clip boards magnetized to the wall decor upon entering. Do not look to the board because all that is listed there are the drinks and specials. Paper copies of the menu are at the register which means each person has to either A. Find the two clip boards with the menu since people were hanging onto them or B. Wait till you got to the register, spend five minutes figuring out what you want and order, ultimately holding up the entire line. This would be less of an issue on a normal business kind of night. We waited an hour to order and finally be seated. The picnic table idea is fine until you realize how cramped people are on a busy evening. The noise level in the main area is amplified due to the industrial decor. Exposed duct work and concrete floors do not dampen the sound, surprising I know...be prepared to yell to have a conversation on a busy evening. Catch the spot in the party room in the back to mitigate this issue. All in all, this is a good spot. With so many pizza places around though, this will only rotate in with some of my other favorites. read more

We went here last Thursday at around 7 pm in the evening. We occupied one table since we are a group of five people. Their tables, by the way, are picnic tables so they are those long ones with benches as seats. They have a parking space beside their building which is very convenient. Although it is limited and can get full quickly especially during peak hours. We ordered three different flavors of pizzas to share with each other. Apart from pizzas they also offer salads, fire-roasted veggies, and gluten-free and vegan options too. They have wine, beer, punch, and some others for drinks. What we ordered for the pizza flavors are one SOPHIE MAE for 11$ which includes red onion jam, applewood-smoked bacon, fresh mozzarella, romano. One BROOKLYN for $13 which is a pizza made of tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil, housemade meatball and sausage and one ELLIOT CHEESE PIZZA for 9.5$ which is also a vegetarian pizza. The pizzas were all served hot and freshly made on the spot. It was smelling very deliciously the moment it was placed on our table. It was a perfect combination for my bloody mary drink. The crust were all perfectly cooked and not too much-burnt areas. Sauces were all the right amount including the toppings. The price is also perfect for the serving size of each pizza. Lots of hype but the pizza is not the attraction it's the building. The building has been remodeled and has an urban industrial fun atmosphere. However the pizza was not one I'll go back for. The toppings reminded me of the Chef Boyardee pizzas we made as kids. The edge of the pizza was charred black while the crust in the center was doughy. The size of the pies is meager so we were left not feeling that we had had something akin to a dinner pizza. Noticed the roasted cauliflower delivered to the people next to us was also an unappetizing black. The pizza was not like those from Naples Italy- trust me I've had those for real. We had the Angry Beekeeper and the Dayton. Both were delicious pies, but the Angry Beekeeper was truly exceptional! I HIGHLY recommend! One of my favorite restaurants in town. The vegetable specials and salads are always fantastic and there is always something new and creative on the menu. Great happy hour specials, they practically give away Coors Banquet Beer and all the other amazing beers they have on tap are nicely discounted. All that being said, the real star is the pizza.
