Always unreal. Been to Both locations (Centerville & Downtown) in the Dayton area and have always been super pleased. Super consistent, priced well, and good drinks if you're up for one (or 2 or 3) I enjoy the Centerville location because how spacious it is and there is typically not too long of a wait if any. The Centerville location is so delicious and consistent. We usually order to pickup and our order is always ready on time. Both the bacon ranch salad and the Mediterranean salad are fresh and so flavorful. The meatball appetizer is savory and filling. Came here for lunch with some friends! You walk in, order, and the staff brings the pizza out to you! I got the lunch special which was a 9 inch pizza for $9. I thought it was a pretty good deal! We had been to this restaurant in downtown Dayton so we knew that this place in Miamisburg would be good. We were not disappointed. Their basic formula is that you can order the pizza of your choice (their combination with either marinara or white sauce or build your own) and then head over to the bar for your drinks (good selection of craft beers for us). The wood fires ovens are constantly going so the pizzas are ready quickly and brought directly to your table. Then you can hang there with your pizza and beer (and get another beer on your tab), enjoying the atmosphere and watching TV. This place must be packed on college football weekends! Glad to know that we can either go local or head downtown for a great experience. We will be back again and will bring family and friends. One note for the management: since you don't have the volume up on the TVs, you should turn on the closed captioning! read more

Ordered take out pizza and was surprised with the result when I got home. I ordered a gluten free marinara pizza with meatball and red pepper toppings. I did like the gluten free crust and that old scratch even had a gluten free option since many pizza places do not. However, after paying extra for both toppings, I was disappointed with the quantity for the extra cost. It appeared as though one singular meatball was cut up and placed on each slice individually and there was barely any red peppers as well. Definitely not what I expected. And nothing short of it and the ambiance/vibes of the place are AWESOME don't really know how to explain but it's chill and like warm and it's a comfortable cool place to be you can watch the game get ice cream or beer or whatever other alcohols they have I usually just go for the bomb.com pizza haha but of course in a place like this you can expect very good customer service!! Thank you Old Scratch for coming to Centerville! This place is amazing! It starts with the people. They have a great culture here and everyone who works here does it with passion. Always very friendly, helpful, and they make it fun. The location is great. Lots of parking, tons of seating, and a huge bar. They have about a dozen TVs and several video games to keep everyone entertained. We always sit at the bar. The bar has an excellent beer selection and they take pride in supporting local craft. They also offer wine and cocktails. The punch is excellent and the Bloody Mary will change your life. The pizza is one of the best I have ever had. Baked in wood fired ovens imported from Italy. They have a great pizza menu or you can always build your own. They are an organization that believes in paying it forward so they do a fundraiser for a different organization every month through their cones for cause project. In the end if you love awesome people making awesome food supporting awesome causes, you will become a regular here. read more

I'm old school pizza, more cheese, more dough the better. I'm not a fancy meatball, little mozzarella balls type of pizza lover, although I was surprised that I did live the flavor of this unusual crispy, crusted pie. But, what I especially loved about this place was the cold alcoholic beverages and full bar options. Nothing goes better with fancy pizza than some alcohol. This place has a fancy pizza joint feel that has collided with an upscale sports bar and has zero of the nasty bar ambiance that will make other parents turn their noses at you if you admit to taking the whole family. In fact, this is a great place to take the whole family. The seating is spacious, clean and has an open and airy feel. It offers plenty of light, even in the freakiest day. The menu is something that really takes time to study, especially if your a pizza old schooler like me, but be open to trying. I noticed too, that the side of the establishment has garage doors that can be opened up in the warmer months. I don't know what it is about places with garage doors opened up in the summer that gets me excited, but I'll be back to experience that. Too bad we live in the armpit of America and the garage doors wont be opening up to a sandy beach of an ocean or the crashing waves of lake erie... don't get excited, it's just a paved parking lot. read more

Seems like things have changed here... We have been here three times since they opened. The 1st time, right after they opened, we ate in the store, and the pizza and sandwich we ordered were pretty darn tasty. The 2nd time was during the last year with the whole covid thing where you would call JM an order and pick up at the back door. Those pizzas were kind of awful. I'm sorry. But kind of felt the the way 'Real D' felt? Maybe it was whomever was making and cooking the pizzas. Well, the lovely Mrs wanted to meet one of our friends who lives close for dinner here. So we went, ate in, and I hoped that things were back to what we had during our initial visit. Well, the Italian sandwich was indeed, delicious but the pizza(Sophie Mae, white pizza with onion jam and bacon bits) was a bit less than I had remembered. Something has obviously changed, the pizzas base was as very thin, and not cooked? It's hard to describe but think of a lasagna noodle but a pizza crust? There was nothing to it? I left thinking I'd, for sure, do the sandwich again but I'm not too sure I'll ever try a pizza again. My favorite part was the ice cream cone? Came here before a movie because it was close and we'd never been before. The inside is a lot bigger than it looks, plenty of places to sit as well as a good sized bar area. You walk up to the counter and place your order, they give you a number and then bring your food to your table once it's ready. We tried the Angry Beekeeper pizza (red sauce, fresh mozz, spicy salami, fresh basil and house made hot honey) and it was really good. I'd never had honey on a pizza before and the sweetness went really well with the saltiness of the salami. They're wood fired pizzas that are stretched pretty thin (which is my favorite) and I really enjoyed the nice charred areas of the crust. Girl at the counter and the bartender were really friendly and welcoming. The girl who took our order helped us decide by answering our questions since it was our first time. The pizzas are kind of the equivalent of a typical medium (6 slices) and we were starving so we also split an applewood bacon ranch salad. Salads come in two sizes and the small is advertised as feeding 1-2 people. Let me tell you, this salad was HUGE. It had really nice chunks of bacon, house made croutons, cherry tomatoes, purple cabbage and romaine tossed in a really delicious ranch. We had a hard time deciding on a salad because they all sounded so good. Price point was around mid range. I think the pizza, salad and one beer we ordered was around $30ish. We will definitely be back again sometime to try more things on the menu. read more

For the life of me, I can't understand what all the excitement is about this place. It offers unique combinations of ingredients, but that doesn't make them better pizzas. In fact, we thought it made them worse. We ordered two different "personal" pizzas, ate 1/4 of each, and pitched the rest in the garbage. They were okay but nothing worth schlepping home and certainly not something I wanted to eat again. They were expensive, too, comparatively speaking - about twice the price of pizzas elsewhere. The decor is pathetic - like dining in someone's unfinished basement. What gets me most is the logo and the name. I didn't know this before I went in there: "Old Scratch" is a euphemism for satan himself, and after I learned that, I looked at the logo again. It looks like exactly that.
