However, my dad, who had come just a few weeks before, tried Old Scratch and praised it highly. He was very excited about bringing us there for multiple reasons, including the great atmosphere, the high rise gluten free crust, and the free custard. Eager to find out the hype, we decided to check it out for lunch. When you walk in, the place looks massive. There are lots of tables and the ceiling is high, unlike what you see from the outside. You order at the counter, which has a giant menu displayed above it, as well as special deals and promotions. The young man taking orders was very patient when we asked for a few minutes to scan the menu. After we decided what we wanted, he eagerly listened and recorded everything we wanted. I ordered a Margarita Pizza and the House Salad. Immediately after we ordered, we were able to fill up drinks and find a seat. I only ordered a water, but from the looks of it, there were lots of good drinks to choose from. My fruit obsessed self remembers the diet lemonade and house made drinks, like one called the Farmer's Punch. We filled up our waters and made way to a table in the back, passing by the open kitchen where you could see the chefs working. A few minutes later, our salads were brought out. This included one Caesar Salad, one regular House Salad, and one House Salad made gluten free. A few minutes after finishing our salads, the gluten free pizzas were brought out, followed by my Margarita Pizza. Let me just say, they were the highest rising gluten free dough I have ever seen! It looked so good! Unfortunately, the Prosciutto and Arugula pizza my mom had ordered wasn't brought out for another few minutes. I don't know if they forgot, or messed it up, or what. Other than that, we really didn't have a bad experience. After devouring my pizza, or at least two slices, I was ready for custard. There wasn't much flavor variety, other than the choice of a cone or bowl. However, it was the perfect way to finish off my meal! Overall, Old Scratch Pizza is a great restaurant that can hit spot for anyone! They offer gluten free crust, salads, fun drinks, and it is of course picky child approved! I moved out of town from Dayton but still visit family and friends throughout the year. Old Scratch Pizza is always a regular pitstop for me each visit. Family favs include the Shroom (mushroom pizza), the Angry Beekeeper (pepperoni with hot honey), the Mr. Scratch (sausage and basil), house and Caesar salads (my notoriously picky brother and dad love the salads), and finally the oven roasted olives. Clearly we have a lot of favs lol. But everything tastes so good and the pizza crust and ingredients are just top notch! Dining in or takeout has always been a good experience. I thought it was overpriced for additional toppings but the pizza wasn't bad. My family loved it but I thought mine was a bit soggy in the middle- ordered the Mr. Scratch pizza so it wasn't due to a custom order. The kids pizzas were reasonable price and I felt it was a good value. read more

Came here on the recommendation of a local buddy. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was very surprised. Upon entering, I was shocked by how much open space there was. The place was huge. Off in the distance, I could see the beer counter which I loved this idea to separate food and beer. It makes for faster lines. I would recommend them all because they sounded great. I am huge special guy so I grabbed the special of the week. Whatever it was, it had pears on it and it was tasty. I got the small pizza because I was just ordering for me. The pizza was big enough to enjoy twice. I had it for lunch the next day and it was just as good. You could eat half for dinner, grab some brews and enjoy the second half at home with a few more brews. The staff was super welcoming and friendly. They were very patient with all the question I had as well. Service was fast and the place was cool. This place is highly recommended. It is great for big groups (show early as it does get packed) or just small dates. Came here for lunch at noon on a Tuesday. You go order first and then sit down. It was very quick and easier to order. Also I've ordered on the app before and it is very nice.
