On a whim driving from Blue Ridge back to Charleston, I began searching for restaurants in Ellijay, as apparently it's nearly impossible to have a decent restaurant experience in a Sunday in Blue Ridge. Well, boy am I glad I did, because The Old Mulehouse popped up on the list, even though it was in Jasper and a little further down the road. I called them up and asked if they had covered outdoor seating/dog friendly/wait times/etc. The gal on the phone was friendly and answered all of our questions, and to my surprise, it had a covered patio that was dog friendly AND no wait. So off we went. Upon arrival the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. I wish I had asked for their names to give shout outs, but basically every staff member who dealt with us was great, and they all worked well with each other as a team. We sat outside with our pups and took in the incredible mountain views. They brought us our drinks quickly, and the wait for our food was very short. It only took me a long to order bc everything looked really good and I can't make a decision to save my life apparently. We ordered the sugar baby pretzel from the brunch menu and it came out hot and fresh and it was the best damn sweet pretzel I've ever had. Nick ordered the pork belly sandwich and I had the chicken Parm sandwich, and we both got Grecian fries. Incredible. The portion sizes were just right, and my sandwich wasn't messy which I appreciated. Both sandwiches were hot, straight from the kitchen and so tasty. I could not turn down lemon cream pie, which was home made in house, and oh my god it was so good, and worth being uncomfortably full afterwards. The pups enjoyed a few fries that we were willing to share since they were being the goodest bois. Oh! And I loved the live music which was a talented violinist. It was so nice being able to have an audible conversation and still have calming live music in the background. This outdoor space would make a great rehearsal dinner, engagement party, mid sized event venue. Im basically going to recommend this place to anyone who says they'll in the Jasper, Ellijay, and Blue Ridge area. Thanks y'all! read more

Oh my goodness! I've never had such delicious grits! I scraped the bowl clean - which was piled high by the way - to make sure I got every last bit. (I regret taking a photo, so my apologies for that). We just were passing through town, but the food, service and ambiance was memorable. The place was SO memorable in fact, that I contacted them weeks later to find out where they procured those tasty grits. Next day I got that answer, along with a personal message of thanks. Now THIS is how a restaurant should be. Definitely a MUST EAT when in Jasper. I know I'll be back. read more

We ordered takeout because the dogs were with us downtown. We wanted a light meal, so ordered a couple of salads and a giant pretzel for fun. The caprese salad was 3 slices of tomato a couple slices of peach and some cheese. They forgot the dressing for the Ceasars salad, and the pretzel was burnt. I live in Blue Ridge but do a lot of work in Canton and this is my go to place after a busy work day. Everything I've had has been great. The atmosphere is happy and welcoming. Nothing was fresh - I could easily make a limp salad with cheap bottled dressing at home. Dry sandwich and half cooked french fries rounded out my order. So glad we chose to come here! Service was great, the restaurant itself was gorgeous and the food was amazing! I would seriously go there just for the potatoes served with my meal!!! SO delicious. The pretzel as an appetizer was yummy and loved the dipping sauce. We sat outside and enjoyed the brick walls all around us and a view of the mountains we took tons of pics while we waited for the food which didn't take long at all. Over priced mediocrity. You could make the same stuff at home with the same effort for half the price. I got the smoked salmon hash. Was supposed to have kale. Had spinach. Also included what tasted like Ore-ida home Fries. And $2.50 worth of "smoked salmon" (better know as pan baked salmon they claim to be smoked.) this place only has survived due to it being outside of metro-Atlanta and caters to a crowd that isn't used to "finer-dining." No this isn't some city yuppie up here complaining about the food. This is someone who has lived here and understands the quality of food. Service is fine never had an issue with the quality of service. I just don't see a reason to pay for overpriced wedding buffet food. (Food wasn't worth posting a picture) read more

We've been disappointed with the last few visits. Most recently I got the Mediterranean Chicken and while I expected a bit of salt with the olives and peppers it was the Chicken that was oversalted. Others at my table agreed, so I know it wasn't just me. I ate the rest of the plate and left the chicken. The previous time the Salmon was overcooked and dry. Our new go-to spot when we're vacationing in the mountains! Everything we had (hummus duo, giant pretzel, mulehouse burger, iced greek coffee, herbal tea, wellness bowl) was spectacular, and the price was very affordable (less than $50). Marianna was a great waitress and brought out water for our dog Baxter. Lots of outdoor seating and dog-friendly. Manager, Chad, was very nice when we paid Marianna a compliment. Thanks guys! Food was great. We split a black bean burger, which tasted scratch made, fresh not frozen , and actually had spice. The fries were perfect as was the french onion soup, and the drinks were tasty. There's a huge covered patio with mountain views. read more

What a surprising gem. In fact all of downtown Jasper is just adorable. Service is friendly and prompt without being in your face. I started with a half Greek salad. Very fresh ingredients. The vinaigrette was balance just right. My main dish was the shrimp and grits. Just enough kick to live up to it's Louisiana origins. The grits were so yummy. I had to stop myself from finishing them because I was so full, but just loved them . The shrimp were plump snd a good size, cooked perfectly. My hubby had the burger, sans bun snd with veggies instead of fries and said it was very good. Definitely a wonderful restaurant. read more

Stumbled upon this restaurant in the cute town of Jasper. They have outside seating with a really nice view of the mountains. I had pecan-crusted local trout that was cooked to perfection. The service was excellent as well. Definitely recommend and will go there again next time I'm up that way. read more

This was our first time and it was wonderful! The service was great, food was hot and flavorful, and the cocktails were strong but tasty! Courtney did a GREAT job! Three of us ordered the Sunday Brunch Alpine Schnitzel and it was delish!!! Light and crunchy with tons of flavor! The carrots were a little odd flavor wise, but still good in their own way (we couldn't figure out what the spices were...). We also got the giant pretzel but ate it before I could take a picture. Lol It could have used a little salt, but was still tasty and hot! One of us ordered the Fish and Chips and that was delish too! The French Onion Soup was full of cheesy goodness! Yum!!! Also, although they have online reservations as an option, call instead and ask for a reservation because they had much more availability over the phone than via the online reservation service. The building and atmosphere is very cool! There was live music inside the day we ate there which had a cool vibe! There's also great Mountain View's from big picture windows around the building which is lovely! Everything I order was the best food I've had in ages. I ordered the Scotch Eggs were cooked perfectly and the perfect appetizer size. My Calamari and Shrimp Pasta were a 5 out 5. The Calamari was cooked to perfection, the flavor was a burst of sunshine, the tomatoes, spring onions and carrots, along the sauce that just made you want drink it up if any was left, melded so well. I think it may be my new chicken soup. The desert was so yummy, I order the Irish Cream Brule, it was not to sweet and it wasn't heavy, the braised apples were so good. My other half ordered the Steak Fritte, the flavor was wonderful, and the potatoes were the best fries he's had for a long time. The only problem he had was the portion of the steak was small. For desert he had the Bread Pudding and it too was awesome. read more

Orders take 45 minutes to come out. It's never consistent and they overcharge. The latest dismal visit, we all ordered different dishes and everyone was disappointed. The ones that ordered meals with chicken got cold tough meat. Luckily none of us have dentures. If you're gluten free and wanting pretend pancakes akin to cardboard then by all means go have brunch here on Sundays. The only thing they have going for them is great ambiance and they're open more than other places in Jasper and Chef Hans. I thought when they got Hans to chef it would get better because he rocks! The wellness bowl is a great meal. But he's just one guy and all this was an issue way before he joined the team. I'm done giving them my money after being disappointed time and time again. Jasper wants to support our local economy and see it grow. That being said I look forward to this cool space opening up for a restaurant group that cares about the customers. When I'm in Jasper, this is my go-to restaurant! Old Mulehouse graciously hosted an event for my friends and I in March of 2021 and everything was perfect. Each time I come the staff is always exceptionally friendly and the food is always amazing. Their cocktail and wine selections are full of tasteful choices. They also have a cute patio (often times with live music) and it's the perfect ambiance to meet up with some friends. If you ever find yourself in Jasper, Georgia, this is the place to go! read more

We went here tonight and we are so glad we did! What an amazing experience. We forgot to call ahead but they still made it possible to seat us (a table of 11) right away! Our server, Gabe, was fantastic. He knew the menu and explained everything in detail to us. They had coloring paper and crayons for the kids. The food was delicious and at the end of the night they really outdid themselves....We are in town this week for our parents 50th anniversary and it also happened to be 3 of our birthdays this last week and mine and my husband's 6th anniversary as well..... they brought us desserts for each occasion(could've been a drink but we didn't know in the beginning) and then he said he talked to his boss and they were going to bring us 4 glasses of bubbly on the house for the anniversaries!! I mean to say WOW at an amazing experience out for our family is an understatement. We felt loved and celebrated while in town visiting this restaurant!! They even gave us all personalized birthday/anniversary cards at the end signed by employees and with a $15 gift for us when we come back!! We haven't had an experience like this ever before at a restaurant.... Especially since Covid!! Thank you Old Mule house for a wonderful and rare night out for us with 4 kids!!
