We were so excited to get back to Jasper and go to the Old Mulehouse and were so disappointed. The service was very slow and while our appetizers came out before our waters, when the server finally got around to take our order and the only reason the entrees came out quick is because all the food was pre-cooked and in warming trays. The gyro was OK but the pita wasn't even warm. The fries were cool and there were literally 8 fries on the plate. The salad with chicken added had chicken that was very obviously cooked ahead of time and just kept in small pieces in a warming tray. We probably won't be back. read more

The best restaurant experience I've had in a long time! We stumbled on Old Mulehouse during a quick trip from Atlanta for apple picking for my husbands birthday. Our large party of 7 + 3 dogs were accommodated on the beautiful patio with beautiful Mountain View's. Our server, Gabe, was wonderful begging to end! As he greeted our table, he had individual waters for our pups to ensure they were comfortable. Gabe explained the menu perfectly - assisting us with ordering delicious drinks, appetizers, and dessert. The food and drinks were delivered timely and everything was DELICIOUS! At the end of the dinner, Gabe ensured that my husbands dessert was complimentary with a wonderfully written Happy Birthday made of caramel. To top off, he took the time to have the other staff sign a birthday card for my husband accompanied by a gift certificate. Gabe embodied 5 star customer service!!! Old Mulehouse is a must if you are traveling through Jasper, GA or TOTALLY worth the hour drive from Atlanta. I will patronize this restaurant for years to come! One of the best dining experiences in quite a while. As expected, food and service were great. Our server, Cassidy, was excellent and provided above and beyond anticipated service. This was our daughter's birthday dinner. Cassidy brought her dessert with "Happy 16th" written in chocolate. She also received a birthday card signed by the entire staff containing a gift certificate. After paying, Cassidy offered to take pictures for us on the deck to commemorate the occasion. Went out for a date night with my husband and sat out on the patio for some live music. We shared the pretzel appetizer, which was delicious! Husband got steak and I got pasta-- both were delicious. The only (minor) issue was that the amps on the music were too loud and we struggled to have conversation outside of when the musicians were in break. Really wanted to love this place. We were here for a rehearsal dinner that was planned many months ago. We had to change the date due to covid. They were very accommodating with changing the date. We had several email exchanges. The menu that was previously selected . We were told the steak was a filet. (By the previous coordinator) our steak was delivered and looked to be an New York strip cut in half and lots of gristle and fat. Very tough! The green beans were good. Mac and cheese not great. Here is the biggie .. check was presented. I was told 18% would be included. That's great I always tip more when service is outstanding. (Which the service was great) but I was told when asking about the gratuity that it was not added but would be added after I signed my copy that's against the law. My signed copy is what I sign off on or I can dispute the charge. The manager also told me that I have to tip the 18% or she will change what I tipped because it's in the contract This ma'am should have been added before the check was presented. ANAZING! We are visiting the area from Florida and decided to make a reservation for Father's Day at the Old Mulehouse based on looking at the menus online. The service was INCREDIBLE! The food was DELICIOUS! We have two small kids and they loved the food as well. Our server, Mariana even gave us a list of things to do and see while we were visiting. On a recent trip to Gibbs Garden we stopped in Jasper on our continued trip to leaf watch. Read the reviews and could only find one person with a bad review. What does that say about that reviewer? It appears everyone mentioned the friendly staff and we concur. The beer selection was excellent and we both enjoyed the fish and chips. Nice atmosphere on outside deck although seats by street could be a little noisy. Maybe hang something from patio street side to cut down on the noise? Overall a pleasant lunch in Jasper, we definitely would return on our next trip. My husband loved the mens restroom with the keg urinal and exceptionally clean window with mountain view. lol read more

Kind of an anomaly for a small town like Jasper. It's beautifully decorated with modern yet rustic aesthetics. Only downside was many main menu items were not available (likely due to Covid and supply issues). Ordered the salmon, delicious! Love the kale salad and carrots. Smashed potatoes are fantastic too. Unfortunately, I keep trying this place and it let's me down every time. The decor is amazing. The food on the other hand is mediocre at best. It seems like the food is either made days in advance and just warmed up or straight off the Cysco truck. I wish they took more pride in the food, because it seems like they are just throwing food on a plate. Word on the street has it the owner is absent and doesn't care. LOVE the space, that you're open on Sunday til 11pm, the outdoor patio, your polite and professional staff. You need to season your food a bit more. Didn't like your version of fried green tomatoes; batter is too heavy and the goat cheese just didn't help. Why not stick to a southern staple and use egg and cornmeal!! Food needed more salt and seasoning overall too. Hubby had the Citrus Salmon and said how much better it could have been with better seasoning and a piece of lemon to squeeze over it! I hope to come back and see improvements to the food because I really liked the space! Clearly everyone was trying very hard. read more

This is my first time in Jasper and we wanted to check out something local. Despite the other reviews that the food needed more seasoning, we were extremely happy with our food. The mac n cheese is homemade and to die for (I subbed my fries for it) and the chicken sandwich was breaded perfectly (not too much or over salted). My boyfriend had the steak frites which was also very flavorful with the pepper sauce they put on top. They have an amazing selection of local Georgia beers and wine as well as a full bar. Once they get their patio up and running I think this is going to be a very busy spot in downtown Jasper! read more

I have recently ate at the mule house in Jasper, GA. The manager Sean is horribly rude to paying customers! I know they are new and it takes time to get a routine down, but this is not acceptable. Sean at the beginning was willing to help and got my friend here another patty for his mule house burger. So the menu did not say that the burger comes with two patties put together. Nor, did the waitress say that it does. Wanted us to pay an extra $5.00 for any other patty. Then proceeded to tell us that it was two patties put to together! This was a very small patty and there was no way it was two patties. After waiting 10 minutes to get the patty on a plate. His burger was cold and the patty they brought out was twice the size of the first patty. After he took a bite he said it tasted like rubber from where they actually smushed the two patties together and over cooked it! Sean did not offer to accommodate his burger! He did not eat anymore than two bits because it was rubbery. Sean rolled her eye many of times after we had complained! This was our first experience at the "Old Mule House" and it was not pleasant. The waitress said that we have been there many of times! Never, this was the first. My family of 6 had issues as well! Burnt chicken, over cooked Rib-eye steak. Sean was all over the place saying one thing and then saying other! First, the chicken was not supposed to come out like that and then when she brought the chief out, he said it always comes out like that. The cook also said "you ordered it so you have to pay for it". Sean said that they were very busy and could not do anything else. They were not busy, there was tables open, there was not a line outside the door. They easily could have fixed our problem correctly the first time. With only one cook, everything was over cooked. This is a very horrible first time experience! I do not recommend eating here! read more

Recent visits for lunch and dinner during the week and the service and food were both good. Had cocktails at dinner and wine with lunch. Greek salad with grilled chicken was excellent. The pub steak was heavily marinated chimichurri - was not my flaVor profile but was tender. The night we were there for dinner there was a bourbon dinner in progress- despite the crowd at the back our service was terrific. Overall, a vast improvement and we will return. We would love to see some better options with less carbs and more variety overall. read more

Took my family after an event. We started with drinks and appetizers. Calamari and spinach artichoke dip were delicious as were the drinks. My niece got the giant pretzel and it was GIANT. Everyone had a bite and she brought some home with the beer cheese dip. Very good pretzel. Entrees were the black and blue salad, shrimp and grits, fish and chips, salmon, Cesar salad with chicken and the falafel gyro. All were perfectly prepared and presented. Dessert included turtle cheesecake (rich and delicious), crème brûlée (fabulous), baklava (sublime). The best part of our experience was John. He was a wonderful server. We will be back. read more
