While there are…read moredefinitely some Tibetan items on the menu, if you're familiar with Indian restaurants you will feel right at home here, with items like papads, naan bread, and raita. We purposely tried to order items we wouldn't find at most Indian restaurants, and we were very impressed. I had the Nepali Bhojan (Traditional Plate) with chicken at spice level 4 of 6, and it was perfect. The chicken was interestingly spiced and sauced, and the plate came with a delicious potato and spinach dish, rice, soup, raita, yogurt, naan, and papad. The star, though was my companion's Creamy Chicken Curry, a rich, tomato-based generous helping at spice level 3. It came with rice and soup. This will be my go-to next time. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere of the intimate space is nice.

But if you claim to be a Nepali restaurant how can you make Thupka so wrong. The broth was pretty dead. The momo were also very average. I am sure a restaurant doesn't have a 4.5+ rating by accident so my best guess is that food quality may have declined in recent years. On the contrary the service is really top notch. Well greeted and well care for. The problem is in the kitchen. Please review the cuisine. If there's a place which upholds high standard of Nepali food in Pacific Northwest - that is Indian-Nepali kitchen in Seattle area.

We were staying at the Marriott around the corner and the reviews were solid and since both Canada (and Vancouver) and India were once British colonies, we figured Mount Everest Kitchen & Grill had to provide a good representation of Indian fare by proxy, right? And it sure was. All four of us were so happy with everything we ordered. I ordered the set menu with mutton curry, rice, daal, raita and some veggies. I love full-flavored things and I love mutton (older lamb) and you can't find it at most places. This curry was amazing. The wife and Son of Tiki Dave ordered Chicken Tika Masala and Chicken Tandoori. The girl ordered Chicken Teriyaki. WHAT?? But she loved it. Ambience was lovely; service was excellent. We also ordered two orders of Garlic Naan which was probably too much but delicious. We had LOTS of leftovers and dang it, I made certain to finish them off and did on the way to the airport the next day! TIKI DAVE from TIKI DAVE'S TERRIFIC TRIPS highly highly recommends Mount Everest Kitchen & Grill! I will be making a video of our experience that day and will be uploading it here! However it is not focused and instead provides a little bit of the region for everyone (Nepal, China, India, Pakistani influences). Came in for lunch on a weekday. Quickly seated and tended to by the staff. Interior is more of a diner scene than nice cafe. Bathrooms are gender neutral and clean but not nice. Here's my three things: 1) I got a lunch special featuring fish peckora, and tandoor chicken. Good flavor but missed on the real spice flavors. Veg salad was sour and worked with the rest of the plate. 2) These folks can make some NAAN! The Naan stole the show. Sweet, salty and crisp. 3) Price wise you can fill up and have a drink for $25-30CAN.

Tasty Nepalese place along Fraser…read more Parking is available on the side streets. The place is pretty bright, with the orange theme. Staff are friendly. They are Nepalese. Their claim to fame would be momos, which are Nepalese style dumplings. Depending on the filling and the cooking style, they can actually be quite similar to Chinese pan fried buns. They also serve curry style dishes that are pretty close to Indian style. Chicken momo with afghani malai - 8 plump round buns with really tasty sauce. Momos were nice and juicy, with a crisp shell. Super tasty. Paneer kurkure - 8 deep fried oval things. Skin was thicker and crunchier than expected. Something to keep in mind. Served with spicy mayonnaise(?) and chili dipping sauce. Honestly I'd skip the crispy version and stick to the other. The sauces were good though. Village goat curry - nice morsels of goat. Curry wasn't too spicy. Went well with rice. Chicken chettinad - sauce has a nice kick from black pepper. Probably my favourite entree dish of the bunch. Sauce is a wee bit salty, so be sure to order rice to go with this one. Butter chicken - can't go wrong with this one. Tasty. Garlic naan - served in wide strips. Great for sharing and dipping in sauces. Jeera rice - tastes like rice. Friends and I were very impressed with the food and value here. I would gladly come back. Recommended.

They were very good about explaining each dish and its role in the culture. The actual food was mostly good. I personally didn't appreciate how spicy some of the dishes were but I do understand that it needs to be like that to be authentic. Some of the dishes were also very odd, which made for an interesting experience of trying new things. It wasn't my favourite but fun to try.

The dine out menu consisted of seven courses - four of which included chilli . My favourite was the Phaksaa Paa - Bhutanese style pork, chilli and vegetable stew, served with house bread. Oh my goodness the pork was so so so so so tender and flavourful. It just melted in my mouth. I was so happy. The Bho Cha, Himalayan churned butter tea, was a great finish to the meal! It was a hot and savoury tea and I enjoyed sipping on it at the end of the meal. I also highly recommend trying the cocktails as they were super yummy! We ordered a Thenthuk, tumeric infused hand-cut noodle in marrow broth with AAA beef for the toddler. He ate it so fast we had to find ways to entertain him the rest of the meal. Can't wait to come back to try the regular menu items! There's simply so many choices. The service that night was very very slow. The entire dinner took about 3 hours, despite us telling the staff that with our young toddler, we cannot dine for that long. There was also a bit of mix up with the order of the dishes as they tried to serve us a dish we already have, and skipped one that we didn't have yet. Hopefully, that's been improved since then and it was just a one-time thing due to how busy the dine out night was!
