I had come across Ol' Days' interesting, farm-to-table menu and thought it would be perfect for lunch with other health-minded colleagues. The bright and sunny cafe was located on a block of Broadway that was an "Open Street" with more foot traffic than the vehicular kind. It was certainly bustling with the Flatiron work crowd, but we were able to snag one of the dozen or so tables. The beverage and food menus were expansive, intriguing, and full of largely homemade items. From a drink perspective, they had cocktails, juices, coffees, and much more. Plus, they even made their own almond and oat milks daily! As much as I wanted to try their Tiramisu or Banana Bread Lattes, I made the tough decision to go for the Mint and Ginger Lemonade instead. The "small" was actually served in a handled mason jar, making it a very decent portion. It had been composed with no additional sugar (though they could add some if asked), so it was rather tart. However, it had loads of ginger flavor and the glass had included a slice of lemon and fresh mint leaves. The food menu offered all-day breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, acai bowls, and other California-style dishes. I went with the Grilled Chicken Plate, which was supposed to come with butternut squash puree, tabouleh, hummus, and arugula. The "tabouleh" was just some heirloom grape tomatoes and sliced radishes on top of the arugula, however. The dish also came with a surprise scoop of chilled quinoa. The hummus was topped with paprika and served in a small side cup; it was delicious, and I would have loved more. The warm squash puree was another fantastic plate component. The chicken, on the other hand, was a bit dry and overcooked. Regardless, it was still a filling and healthy meal, but I would probably order one of their other enticing dishes next time. Great flat white, pretty good ricotta eggs, great toast, bad service. I asked for my flat white WITH my meal (I don't like to have coffee on an empty stomach and I like having hot coffee with my breakfast). It came out 5 mins later, then my meal came out 10-15 mins after that. So when the meal came, the coffee had cooled down. I asked for it to please be remade and reminded the server I'd asked for it to come with my meal - she gave me a stank look, said nothing, took the coffee and left. 5 mins later a different server delivered the new drink. Would I return? Maybe. But I'll be ordering my coffee after my meal comes. read more

We managed to get a res for a group of 7 last Sunday. It was so crowded but the staff was fabulous. Butterfly mango tonic was refreshing and oh so pretty and sparkling FAL ¡AH! FEL BOWL was yummy and filling. I added some feta because I needed some dairy but they didn't add very much :( This place is great for gluten sensitive folks and accomodating to those who are dairy free/vegan as well. I am gf and would definitely come back. Came for brunch with a friend, and Ol Days is located in a central location, convenient to the subway and Penn Station. We chose this spot for its healthy fare and vegetarian friendly options. It was very bright and airy inside, and the place was lively when we arrived. My friend and I both had lattes and the vegan burger. The latte was creamy and hit the spot. But I was a bit disappointed with the burger. The lentil patty tasted ok but both the patty and the bun were so dry. I ended up just leaving much of the bun off to the side. An excellent brunch at Ol'Days was the bright spot on an otherwise dreary day! We went to the Nomad location, which was fully packed and buzzing with energy during Saturday brunch. The restaurant is small and cozy without feeling cramped, but it does get pretty loud. We ordered cappuccinos with their homemade almond milk, and it was one of the best coffees I've had in a long time. Lately, I've been frustrated with the cost and quality of coffee at most cafés, but this was redeeming. This alone would bring me back, but the food was great too! A very cramped brunch place with limited seats so you definitely need to reserve especially on a weekend. In terms of food, it was not bad but if I could recommend my favorite brunch spot this would not be it. I ordered a short rib bun w/ avocado but it was kinda flavorless. Because of this, it affects everything else -- We had to go back and forth between the register, by the door and outside because it was so extremely cramped. I arrived a few minutes to my reservation and they seated me without my party, which was nice. The rest of us trickled in about 5 minutes later. There is a lot on the menu, so there's really something for everyone. The pricing for some of the dishes felt off, as some things felt like it was overpriced while others are underpriced. Parking is not so friendly around the area so would recommend taking the train. Our waiter was very nice and efficient but overall the food took awhile to come out.
