A disappointing little "pint" of shrimp fried rice

Very disappointed with out last Visit. It seems that they are drastically trying to save money. The shrimp was half the size they used to serve, as are the containers. I ordered a variety of pint sized food options. The portions arrived in barely 4oz containers. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come

I was unfortunately disappointed by my early dinner at this darkly-lit, strip-mall restaurant about 1/4 mile west of Troy. With only four other diners seated, the single sushi chef was busy enough with about five small take-out orders to delay my order to 30 minutes from the time I arrived. As I initially sat at the empty sushi bar, I thought I briefly noticed a peculiar fishy smell. The display cooler seemed normal, and the food I was served had a fresh appearance, texture and taste, so I could not identify the source. I did see that none of the fish in the cooler was individually wrapped, as I have seen at every other restaurant. Instead, one single giant sheet of plastic film covered all of the items together. There were no settings prepared at the sushi bar, so it took the waitress a minute or two to assemble the cloth napkin, fork, waribashi and bowls. I was handed a bowl of fried wonton crisps and "orange colored dip," from the stack of pre-filled chip bowls, sitting over at the corner of the sushi bar. I amused myself, noticing that my "chip" bowl was chipped. However, this did not distract me from the lukewarm tea and bland soup I was served. As I was killing time during my extended wait for my entree, one of the waitresses had her shift meal. Despite all of the empty tables in the restaurant, she grabbed a seat next to me at the bar. While this is usually not allowed at other restaurants, I once again lowered my expectations here. After she finished eating, the chef finally presented me with a small amuse bouche: chopped up tempura covered tiny flavorless fishbits over wakame. When my entree came, as two separate plates, I was less than impressed with my usual order of a couple of maki and a handful of nigiri. The plating was pretty simple, with slices of lemon as the only decoration. While the presentation was competent, the flavors were not there. The rice itself was very bland, wasabi was missing from the nigiri, the spicy salmon was not spicy, overpowered by the "crunch" filler. The egg cake, thankfully not advertised as tamago, was strange: surprisingly warm without the taste of eggs fresh-from-the-pan. The mackerel was pretty small, as I watched the chef open and slice off the first pieces from a vacuum sealed package. I was finally poured hot tea - just in time to pay my bill. With the bill came - what else? - a small plate of fruit and, of course, a pre-packaged fortune cookie. I really can't see a reason to return soon. 2019 02 16. S19.

So tonight we ate at the Okinawa it was a very decent place to go and get Chinese we took it out and we ate at home but they were fast courteous and delivered the food to us in a timely manner when we got there. The food was good overall the one thing I would say is that I would definitely tomorrow make sure that you look at the menu when you order because some of the things I've never had with spice such as sesame chicken. It kind of threw me off when I took a bite of it and it was pretty spicy I'm not against spice but when I'm not looking for it or wanting it on my food it makes for difficult dish 2 continue to eat. It was like they made it with the General Tsao Chicken sauce instead of the sesame chicken sauce and it just doesn't make sense to me. I will say though that everything else was delicious and with that being said I would recommend this place to anyone who would like a good Japanese or Chinese restaurant cuisine to try. Thank you so much for listening.

Our second visit was disappointing. My friend had Hot & Spicy Shredded Beef, it came out mostly bell peppers and onions with a few strips of meat hidden inside. My House Special Lo Mein was good though.

The sushi is surprisingly good for being located in a ghetto strip mall. The service is God awful but quality of fish is great.

We were given hot tea, water, crunchy noodles and dipping sauces to start. The lunch menu had a variety of choices, including vegan. I ordered a starter of Char Sui. For main entree platters, my mom ordered the pan fried tofu dish while I ordered the cod filet with Thai eggplant. I paid for a different side, thin rice noodles, since I didn't want the rice that came with the platter. Finished our meal with a pistachio layer cake and hand dripped coffee. Everything was enjoyable; well balanced and deliciously seasoned. A wonderful variety of Asian flavors in more traditional dishes. It is ornate, and brought me emotionally back in time. The service is more like the 70s and 80s, before food service became a rush for quick turnover. If you are looking for a spot where you can relax and not feel rushed, enjoy unique interior decor, and flavorful distinctive cuisine come here for lunch!

Stopped for lunch and ordered sesame chicken. Tea, water and some snacking noodle with 2 sauces. The wonton soup was excellent with large pillowy wontons. The sesame chicken was right portion and fried chicken pieces were hot and crisp and sauce dark sweet and tangy. Pieces of chicken were not uniform which I liked. Great service, great food and the vibe was what I had always imagined it would be from driving by.

Honestly, this is like Chinese food from Utah back in 1980. It's THAT bloody backwards, this cooking. Really bad quality. I am hoping we finally get a Panda Express at the level served on the NJTp because that is 1000 times better than this...which is a very sad statement from this Washington DC girl. It's pretty hard to do worse than Panda ! The vegetables in the Hunan tasted canned and severely overcooked. The sauce was so "whitened" that it barely qualified as a sauce. It was weird, white sauce, nothing "hunan" about it, had a little heat but zero flavor, The steamed dumplings were a small wonton wrap with a filling and not even as good as that. Ugh. So very disappointing. Delivery was perfectly fine.

First we asked for water to start Waiter eventually brought water no ice about 2/3 full. We ordered soup I had hot and sour My wife had wonton soup ($6.95) for a CUP Mine came out hers didnt waiter said it had to be made "special" when hers came my wife tried and imediately said this is terrible! She passed it over and insisted I try! Omg Soapy dishwater tasting broth (almost like a crappy miso.... We had pan fried porstickers which were fine My wife ordered chicken with broccoli I asked waiter if I could get the chicken with broccoli in a garlic sauce he said "no the chef would get angry if he asked" He suggest to get the chicken in ginger garlic sauce... I asked (because I'm diabetic) "what vegtables Came in that dish" he said Corn and a bunch of other veggies... so I ordered that... My wife's food came out and was 'ok' Mine followed about 5 minutes later Not ONE single vegetable!! Chicken a few mushrooms and a ton of PASTA... omg 80% pasta (which as a diabetic is your worst enemy!!! Worse the ginger garlic sauce had no flavor.... Oh yes I almost forgot the waiter asked us while ordering "do you both want white rice?" What Chinese restaurant charges extra for white rice? Being diabetic I knew I wouldn't eat much if any... I would like to return to try other dishes. I ordered Jasmine Green Tea, a cup of Hot and Sour Soup, and Singapore Noodles. A pot of tea arrived quickly which pleased me. I often judge a Chinese restaurant by the quality and taste of its Hot and Sour Soup. This soup was excellent in comparison. The broth was a good balance of flavors. It was just spicy enough. It had fresh mushrooms and tofu. Five Stars for the soup. When I saw the check later, I realized it was included free with my lunch. The Singapore Noodles was a large portion, but disappointing in that I could barely detect the yellow curry. The rice noodles needed more sauce or spice! The chicken strips were tender. There were onion pieces as well as scallions in it. Three Stars. But I will return. There are many booths in the restaurant as well as a long row of connected tables in the center for large groups. The restaurant was clean. One booth had four men who spoke only Chinese to the server. That is a sign that the food is good here. Server was efficient and helpful. Parking is right outside of restaurant in a strip of businesses that incudes Saigon Spring, a favorite.
