I wish I could give 0 stars. We went here on a Sunday night, to get all you can eat sushi. Upon arrival, when I went to the bathroom, there was unflushed throw up... this was foreshadowing. We ordered a lot of sushi. Not too much, but a lot, because it's all you can eat and we wanted our moneys worth. The fish was disgusting, slimy, and clearly past its expiration. My girlfriend couldn't even bring herself to eat at all. Due to the rule about fees for wasted food, I had to eat it. It was absolutely horrible. I had to force myself full of this disgusting rotten fish. The worst part was that the workers clearly knew it, because they were staring at us with guilty looks on their faces. Outstanding experience! They have recently updated their menu here and the food was outstanding! The sushi was fresh and well presented. The tuna was melt in your mouth delicious and all the sushi was yummy! They have fun fruit options such as a mango roll and a strawberry banana roll. The udon was perfect and our son loved everything too. Dimly lit ambiance and comfortable. The service was friendly and they never let our cups be empty. The fish is horrible quality, stringy and can't even chew. The stir fry is tasteless. I ordered the shrimp stir fry and it came with one shrimp lol. You order on a tablet and don't interact with the staff at all but they will add 18% gratitude on your check. This place is the most expensive all you can eat sushi around and the worst quality food. First time coming here to eat AYCE sushi after the one closer to me shut down. The first thing I noticed was the the kitchen/appetizer items were not fresh. It was obvious they had been sitting in the freezer in a while due to the stale taste. The sushi itself however was pretty good. The sashimi slices are nice and thick. The specialty rolls were also on par with other AYCE locations I've visited. Only downside was that the eel sushi was too soft. Never felt the slightest need to write a negative review until now. Came in, restaurant was empty and was asked "a la carte" or "all you can eat"? Immediately following me saying "all you can eat", the person seating us (likely the manager), shook his head and looked pissed. The reason for that? No idea. The waiters themselves were nice, but the food wasn't. One of the food items: a salmon taco, is quite literally salmon on a Pringle chip. We were one of the only ones in the restaurant, but the service was not outstanding to any degree. After asking for check and dessert, the "manager"/front desk guy came around to ask what flavor of ice cream. After I told him, he again shook his head and looked pissed. As confirmation, I was not the only one who saw this behavior. To top it all off, the check came with an 18% service charge that was not stated anywhere. Even if I were happy to pay 18% service charge, having that forced upon me with no warning and with subpar service and a nasty interaction is completely disrespectful and soured the experience. Party of two: Came for all you can eat sushi on a night where only half of the tables in the resturant were taken. Being that it was pretty empty, we assumed service would be decent. We placed our first order of appetizers promptly after arriving. After about 30 minutes of waiting, only half of our appetizers arrived. We then placed our second order of a few maki rolls and hand rolls hoping it would come shortly after the second half of our appetizers arrived. Spoiler, the second half of the appetizers never arrived and only some of the rolls ordered made it to the table. We waited another 40-45 minutes for the missing rolls to come out. By this point we were the only people in the ayce section of the resturant. We then placed a third order of miscellaneous things hoping the rest of what we ordered would arrive. Unfortunately, once again lots of what we wanted was missing. At this point we had been in the resturant for about 2 hours and were consistently being asked by our server if we were placing another order which we always responded with "we are still waiting for food from a previous order". By the end of our time at the resturant we were one of four tables still trying to enjoy a meal. We left hungry and confused as to why we spent so much money for only receiving half of what was ordered with so few people dining. Not only was service horrible, but an automatic gratuity and service fee was included. Meaning we had to tip extra on a meal that we didn't even get to fully eat. The seaweed salad had MAYO added in it. The tuna tartare was drenched with soy sauce. The salmon sashimi salad tasted like week old salmon. The deep fried sushi roll had SPOILED avocado in it. The shrimp tempura was not flakey and light like what you'd expect, but heavily crusted. All Sushi is full of the most rice I have ever seen in a roll. They charge extra for what you don't eat, and fill everything with rice. Soups are loaded with pepper to make you drink water, and fill up on water. They add a mandatory 18% Gratuity on your check, and the servers don't pay attention to you. We went back last night 12/23; for the first time in about a year and we were presented with a tablet to take and submit our order on. As nice of an idea this is the menu times out within 10 minutes so when you have 3 people trying to place an order and your taking turns it ends up timing out and then you have to start all over. As far as service goes it was not very busy last night and the time it took for us to get drinks or even refills was way too long. We were also very shocked when it came time for the bill to see that tip was included. I agree for tables of 4+ people that this should be the case but when there's 1-3 absolutely not. Tips should NEVER be EXPECTED and its mostly an ethnicity thing that tips are expected in establishments like this. It's unaccept to include tips when you the service is only bringing you food a quarter of the time. Plus no one notified us nor was there any signs that specified tips are included. When going to use the restroom it had just been cleaned but apparently their idea of cleaning was to dump a bucket of water over the toilets because there was a pool under my feet while using the rest room, no wet floor signs in sight. We used to go to sushiX but they started to fall off with the freshness of their sushi so we've been coming here since they opened and will never look back! We always get the all you can eat when we come which is a great price for the quality of food your getting in return. Because of the pandemic, you're limited to two runs of sushi and appetizers. You get 2 pieces of paper of each and you write down how many you want of each item. It's fast service and they are extremely attentive with the drinks (came over every 15 minutes to see if we need refills). Ice cream comes at the end of the meal. I've been to sushi prime quite a few times. Of late the quality is gone down a little bit. The portions are a little smaller. I do enjoy the small plate tapas version of this facility and bringing out the sushi. The sushi is still good. They've put a few new offerings on their menu since they first opened, but some of their cooked offerings are lacking in some of the flavor that they used to have and as I said the portion on the plate has gotten a lot smaller. I do suggest if you've never had sushi or like that idea of like tapas, this would be a good restaurant in Clifton Park to check out. It is a little pricey, depending on the time of the day that you do go in. It's not an every day visit place like your other franchises. A little over the top if you ask me. We were offed the all you can eat sushi menu, but opted out for the regular menu as we were not looking to pig out. I was back recently and too much has changed for the worse. First, the all-you-can-eat price for weekdays is now $28 and for weekends which includes Friday it's $30. No brainer, it's not worth it! To my knowledge, that makes it the highest priced all you can eat sushi in the capital region. I don't like Wasabi, but it is clearly better and cheaper. There is a new twist that I don't understand and don't like. The Yaki Tori (grilled chicken on skewers) came out fried not grilled. Stopped in here on Saturday night after playing hockey nearby. I'm generally not a fan of all-you-can-eat sushi establishments, but it was on the late side... and Sushi Prime 88 was still open. And I was hungry. Hockey-hungry. First, the place is tremendous. It wasn't busy...but it was about 9:30pm...and they literally opened within the last week or so. It's extremely clean and the manager/owner(?) was really friendly. Food arrived quickly and water was refilled frequently. The sushi was good. We ordered fairly basic stuff - a few rolls and a few pieces. As expected, the slices of fish on the sushi were not very big, but the chunks of salmon in the Alaska rolls were surprisingly generous. The cuts on the sushi rolls were quite big and there's plenty of rice beneath each piece of nigiri. I tried the spicy salmon sushi - not my cup of tea. Too heavy on the tempura flakes; I'll stick with the basic stuff. My only real complaint was that the 2 pieces of eel were served cold. The consistency was a bit chewy; unagi should be served warm to hot (and should not be chewy). FYI - an 18% gratuity is automatically added to the bill. We added some extra for the good service. They have 2 different menus to order from - cooked stuff from the kitchen and the sushi menu. I'm giving them a pass (for the cold unagi) since they literally just opened their doors. I'm sure that excellent AYCE sushi is available somewhere, but I have yet to find it. Even so, I stopped in for a weekend late lunch at this AYCE restaurant in a corporate strip mall with low expectations, and was not disappointed. The experience was not the most pleasant, but not the worst either - more of an McD experience: edible, I guess. I sat down at the end of the spacious 6-seat sushi bar surrounded by weird blue lighting, but no annoying TV or loud music. The chefs were polite enough, but rushing to prepare for even the small crowd in the restaurant (photo). I tried to steer away from the AYCE menu, and simply order à la carte, but in hindsight, the price would have been about the same (including the 18% gratuity added to all AYCE orders) because almost everything was on both menus. I ordered my usual couple of maki and bunch of nigiri. The soup was not bad, and was followed quickly by my main, served on one of those "boat-shaped" wooden plates (photo), which I have never liked. I just don't think that they can ever be properly cleaned - at least it wasn't one that had those tiny nets attached. The decoration around the main was simple, and the preparation was not too bad. Unfortunately, the taste was as to be expected at AYCE, beginning with the very lightly seasoned rice - much less than I prefer. One maki, the bland, non-spicy salmon paste covered in sauce, tried its best to cover the less-than-appealing taste of bargain fish. It failed. On the high end was the saba, which probably just came out of a vacuum-sealed pouch - and it is already one of the cheapest cuts. Even the tamago had substantial room for improvement with its suspiciously high water content. But the main reason patrons enjoy AYCE is cost. How does the restaurant make a profit at a low price point? One way is savings from lower cost of ingredients. We all know this. And this is one of the cheapest sushi restaurants in the area. I am a big fan of cheap eats and quality sushi and need to remind myself occasionally that the two don't go together. But if you are looking for AYCE sushi Sushi Prime 88 is probably a good choice and the value is excellent, especially at lunch. The big menu allows you to order various Japanese and Chinese appetizers along with nigiri sushi and rolls. I asked for edamame and got a big, good portion that was hard for one person to finish. (They frown on uneaten food and threaten to charge you extra for it.) Also available: seaweed salad. If you like this pricey stuff it's a treat to be able to order as much as you want. Stay away from the "spicy" seaweed salad however that has some strange creamy dressing and is not spicy. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and the spider roll and both were big on filler ingredients. I'd stick to nigiri sushi if I were you, especially saba (pickled mackerel) which I could eat all day. This fish doesn't have the quivering freshness of never-frozen sushi grade, but it's perfectly edible. I would not however order it as sashimi, which is available at dinner but not lunch. There are also some nice fried scallops and calamari rings which are served in small manageable portions with a tonkatsu dipping sauce (sweet and thick). There is no dessert, oddly. There is miso soup which I oddly forgot to order and udon if you want to fill yourself up with noodles instead of protein. The space is big, clean and modern and service was extremely friendly. If anything the waitstaff was too aggressive in repeatedly asking me if I wanted to fill out a new menu sheet. Tea (initially lukewarm but later hot after my complaint) was complimentary.
