I did not care for the sushi. The spicy tuna roll has no Kwipe Mayo in it - it's just spicy. It was also really sad most spicy tuna hand rolls I get are full and this was just emaciated. I ordered a mushroom and chicken dish I asked for no onions also I got no mushrooms. It wasn't horrible prices but it wasn't worth it because I didn't like anything except my boba tea. The person who took my order was the one who brought my food to the table. I sat outside it was lovely they had some tables and chairs out there. I went there in September it's November I don't really remember much about the decor it was clean. I just could not recommend it to anyone. The picture my boba tea only shows tea. I don't give Boba as I don't want a lot of boba and if I just asked for 10 Boba I get 30 Boba. The taro tea was good. read more

I was sadly disappointed with the meal I picked up there this week. Take out lunch with four items: Baby egg rolls- chewy and doughy, barely any flavor or filling Pad Thai with chicken was dry, with the noodles and rice all caked and missing any saucy goodness (this is one of my favorite Thai recipes so I was very disappointed) Satay chicken was average at best Panang Curry with Duck was the best of the group with nice spice and lots of duck and vegetables. One of the best Thai restaurants in Saratoga County. I have been here multiple times and never been disappointed. My usual dishes were Tom Khar soup and Avavado roll with a side of rice. This time I tried the lunch menu (red curry) and I just ate it all....it's just a right blend of spices that wants you go back for more. While I was there I stopped by to say hello to my friend who lives in the building. I definitely would recommend thos place. read more

Got delivery (Door Dash) there was no minimum order amount to order delivery which I saw others say there was. So no worries there! Was really taken back from their soups. I have never experienced flavors like that! Tom yum soup was my favorite and I strongly suggest! I also tried Tom Kar soup which is sweet but my roommate enjoyed it. Pretty middling for sushi and Thai food. We got takeout sushi and some pad Thai. Fish was fresh, but the rice had little to no seasoning, and the avocados were overripe. The miso was lacking in flavor as well, and the chicken pad Thai was middling at best. For the price, I wouldn't recommend, unless you are trapped. read more

I don't understand all the rave reviews. I have given this restaurant several experiences and all, but one has been OK. I think they either have high turn over chefs or multiple chefs. The pad thai was tasteless and the chicken was very dry. Sauce was none existent. The pineapple fried rice was awful. Never had curry in pineapple fried rice before and this curry was not the right type of curry to be used in Asian food. At one point, the mango curry was OK. The sauce was very water down. I have notice it progressively went down from the times I tried. As someone who has eaten Thai all over the country, this is a HARD pass. The food was not edible. read more

I had a bit of a cold and really wanted my cure all, noodle soup or more specifically spicy Pho or Ramen. I am not from the area and did a search and unfortunately on Mondays many places are closed so I ended up here. I wouldn't normally go to a Sushi/Thai place for Pho but it was listed under "House Specialties". Should have gone with my first inclination. One of the best parts of Pho is that it is served with a bunch of items to customize like Ming beans, basil, jalapeño and the condiment cart with spice, vinegars, hoisin etc. Sadly my Pho came with nothing but the salt and pepper and light and regular soy on the table. I didn't even get the Asian soup spoon or chopsticks. I asked for hot sauce and some chopsticks. The hot sauce was good and added to the relatively light tasting broth, it is possible it may have even been a vegetarian based broth. The protein choices to add to the Pho were also odd, chicken, pork, beef and seafood. No meatballs or tendon. I went with their suggestion of pork. The pork serving was generous in the bowl but was also weirdly thickly cut. I am pretty sure if I had chosen beef it would have been fully cooked and not the thin slices that cook in the ripping hot broth that you normally get. Three stars because it was good if not traditional and the place was clean but if I go back I would not order it again. read more

To be fair, I've never eaten in-person here, only take-out, which is why I'm giving them 4 stars rather than 3. The food is pretty solid, actually. I've had a range of dishes (mostly Thai), including curry, drunken noodles, pad Thai, pad see ew, spring rolls, seaweed salad, and California rolls. Everything I have ever eaten from Bua is solid--not great, nothing to rave about, but solid. Good. I also like that they use Mealeo as a delivery service since it's local, unlike DoorDash or Uber Eats. Vegetarian/vegan: I get my dishes without the egg and they're very good about it, although I suspect that many of their sauces include fish or oyster sauce, pretty standard for Thai. It's white, unseasoned rice with BOILED chicken (been boiling for at least eight days) and steamed veggies. I'm not really sure how this could ever be construed as fried rice? Having two excellent Thai restaurants less than two miles from our Florida home, a week ago we were very happy to find equally excellent Thai food close to our Ballston Lake summer home. My husband enjoyed the Sweet and Sour Shrimp; I'm vegetarian and loved the Panaeng Curry. Went back tonight to celebrate our 51st Anniversary in their elegant dining room. Hubby had Sweet and Sour again and I enjoyed tasty Vegetarian Fried Rice with lots of veggies. I stopped in for a weekday sushi lunch, not for the Thai dishes. Everything started out well enough, as I was escorted to the 8-seat, mostly empty, sushi bar. The regular indoor and patio tables held about a dozen other customers as I entered. I was pleased to see cloth napkins and actual hashi but noticed the muted television in the background and was then handed a menu with lots of photos of some else's sushi. Sorry, I haven't been a fan of picture menus for a very long time. Seeing a couple of temaki available, I ordered a handful of nigiri, a temaki and a maki. The physical sushi bar here dominates the center of this restaurant. You would not guess that reading the limited sushi menu, and the sushi bar also seems to diminish itself. The elevated display cooler completely hides the chef (photo) - they might as well prepare their creations in another time zone. The whole idea of a sushi bar is to interact with the chef. My experience found that very difficult here. I enjoyed a simple soup waiting for the main. The two-plate main was simply decorated, but a bit uneven. The rice itself was not bad. The spicy salmon temaki presentation was a bit sloppy, but the taste was good, and it was actually spicy - a healthy dose of cayenne pepper seemed to be mixed in. The nigiri also had some lower notes. I was surprised that the hotate was prepared as careless gunkenmaki, instead of a simple nigiri. The pieces themselves did not appear evenly cut, but random chunks. If I was suspicious, I'd think this was solely to allow the chef to use cheaper frozen scallop pieces instead of whole scallops. On another nigiri, the chef apparently tore a visible hole in the white fish, and didn't bother to remove, correct or even cover the error (photo). Perhaps I am exaggerating the importance of presentation as part of the sushi experience. Overall, I get the feeling that the chef was, at best, distracted, while creating my meal. I'll probably return, but if the chef can hide behind the counter while assembling sushi, I have no reason to expect an improvement any time soon. 2019 06 26. S 16. read more

This place resides in a complex of apartments that is barely visible from the street. The parking consists of 4 curb spots on each side of the road so this in itself is highly unattractive. My coworker and I came in to eat for lunch and was seated immediately. There were only about 4 other parties in here so wasn't busy at all. Not sure what the holdup was, but they took forever before the waitress even came by to take our order. Once she did, they hide in the back and don't even come out. I wanted to ask her if the Pad Thai came in different spice levels bc I noticed she never even asked. When I finally flagged the water girl down, she couldn't understand wth I was trying to say. She said "i go get menu" and I was like "why do u need a menu to pick a spice level?" There's an old Chinese saying--Chicken talking to the duck. Clearly we have that here. She motioned that she was gonna get the waitress but that didn't happen for like another 10 minutes. Thank God this place has extremely slow ass service or my food would have came out by the time someone came out to check on us. We waited literally an hour for them to bring us out our dish. This restaurant was only about 20% full and the $13 Pad Thai was kid-sized. Horrible value and very bad service. My coworker and I would not recommend this place at all. It's a waste of time and money to sit here and spend 90 minutes hearing your stomach digest itself waiting for your lunch. read more

The fried rice was bland and very oily no vegetables to speak a stalk of green onion and the carrot flowers and yes boiled chicken?! No egg or peas or what you would expect in a fried rice dish . Bua Thai is a perfectly adequate Asian fusion place in the Ellsworth Common. The menu is the same as at many other Thai-Japanese places in the Cap District: sushi rolls, thai combos, a few house specialties. Portions at lunch were a bit smaller than I'd like and maybe a buck higher, but flavorful. I'm adding a star because I got fast service even though the place was slammed, then taking it back because I never got the requested chili sauce. But here's the thing. At Friday lunchtime the room was packed, mostly with people wearing GlobalFoundries lanyards and speaking languages other than English. When the chip fab was announced a few years ago, I thought "at last! Real ethnic food will come to Saratoga." I'm still waiting. Where's the northern Thai, south Indian, regional Chinese? Not sure if cook/ sushi chef has changed since 2017, but my take out order last week was disappointing. Their sushi used to be decent, but last week it was inedible. Their tempura was thick, uneven and parts of vegetables had uncooked flour. This will be our new go to! I'm a huge fan of Thai food and I have to say this place's cuisine was more flavorful and better presented than others I've been to. We came on a Wednesday night and were immediately sat. The staff was so nice and gave my toddler a paper plate and cup. Food came out lightning quick and was so hot.
