They offered delivery to my house today!!! It's great to be able to have delivery instead of having to go out to pick it up is absolutely fantastic! And our food tonight was absolutely amazing! Even better than our first time! The Spicy Thai Fried Rice with Shrimp was absolutely the best fried rice EVER! If you love the spicy heat with flavor, this is definitely the dish to try! The pork dumplings were very good and the firecracker (deep fried Jalapeños filled with spicy tuna) and our sushi was magnificent! My husband enjoys tempura sushi rolls and I love spicy tuna sushi and neither of us were disappointed! So glad we decided to order in tonight! It is totally worth the money when everything g you ordered is outstanding! We are seriously planning on doing this again and can't wait to try the steak Teriyaki!

I stopped by on a weekday holiday for lunch to find this restaurant almost empty. The overly enthusiastic host informed me that this stand alone building (photo) was refitted from a former pub/pizzeria and only opened in February 2019. About 5 of the 10 bar seats are sort of in the sushi area, so I grabbed a seat in front of the chiller/display behind disposable waribashi, paper napkins and a fork at each place setting, and began to skim through the "grand opening" menu. The menu itself only contained a few photos, which I am always happy to see, but they seemed more decoration than actually useful. For a quick second, I thought they prepared temaki - no such luck. Just a stock sushi photo. Sorry. I chose a couple of nigiri and a couple of non-cone-shaped maki. I've come to truly believe that construction of a selection of simple nigiri more clearly demonstrates the chef's skill than preparation of a giant roll containing twenty different whole fish. Especially in a restaurant that I have yet to dine. I looked around at the limited decor while enjoying a simple competent soup. I never visited the previous bar/restaurant, but unfortunately, the decor tells me that it is still mostly here. As the server quickly entered my order, the chef finally stopped texting to throw together my main. There wasn't really a large selection of nigiri (maybe 15), and nothing too exotic, but with only two other customers in the restaurant, I hoped for far more than I was presented. The two-plate presentation could have been better, with the not-spicy salmon crunch maki containing a little too much of the bland "crunch fillings," although, at least they kept their shape. The nigiri were far more disappointing, more than the decor of a single flower and a bit of lettuce could overcome. The rice may have been sticky enough to hold onto the nori wrappers in the maki, but each one of my nirgiri had chunks of rice falling off as I raised each piece to my mouth. The taste of the rice was not as seasoned as I prefer, but sushi rice that does not stick together would seem to be more at home in some sort of Hawaiian poke-bowl-type meal. Also, a few of the individual pieces were very poorly constructed, with the tamago breaking apart even before I touched it. Two of the smallest cuts of mackerel I've seen in a while were on my plate (photo) - for a second, I thought I was in one of those humble movies where a single end crust of bread is further sliced to make two more even thinner slices. That shouldn't need to happen - saba is one of the cheapest cuts of fish. In retrospect, I also found the pricing to be kind of strange, with my nigiri order of saba, tamago, hirame and hamachi all at the same price point. But at least the taste was not too bad. The server delayed bringing back my bill to prepare me a gratis small plate with a couple of mochi ice cream balls, presented well enough (photo), but bought-in. I'll return, but I believe that these first 3 months haven't been enough time to iron out all the minor problems yet. I hope that these will be corrected by the time I do return. 2019 05 27. S15.

Had an issue with a take out order and they went above and beyond to make it right on Valentines Friday Night of all nights! Not only was the service amazing the food was just as good. The cream cheese crab spring rolls wwre super creative and tasted amazing. I'm always a sucker for miso soup and theirs didnt disappoint. Lastly the sushi platter was amazing I havent been that stuffed in a long time.

Came in for the first time this weekend and had a terrific meal. There were a few tables when we arrived and we were seated quickly -- a group of six. We started with a few chef special rolls (I don't remember exactly what was in each one) but everything was excellent. For our entrées we had some noodles, a steak dish and shrimp tempura. The food was all terrific, hot and fresh. The best part was the service. It was great to talk to the owners who were so welcoming and appreciative. We will definitely be back and we're looking forward to it.

In a town chock full of Japanese sushi restaurants, this new entry - located in the former (and…read moremuch missed) seafood dining favorite, 30 Lake, two streets off the main shopping area downtown - Omakase is a stand out. Which is notable since it's costly. How costly you say? Well, my lunch set me back $70 which - for a cocktail, appetizer and one sushi roll - is high. Very high. The pricing cost them 1/2 a point in my review. The ambiance is more nightclub than Asian restaurant. Rather dark but not in a bad way. Modern Japanese? Maybe. Just not the 'feel' I expected on a Friday afternoon. I was warmly welcomed. I think the staff might upgrade their attire to complement their fine dining prices. Just sayin'. As previously mentioned, Omakase's prices are high. Think Upscale NYC which - as my hubs pointed out when I shared my luncheon experience with him - seems to be the direction that much of Saratoga Springs's downtown is going. For example, their Tom Yum Soup, which is offered in most Japanese restaurants, at $15.60 is twice what you would pay elsewhere locally. My Tuna Tartare was elegantly presented. It was similar to other sushi places I've been to except that the tuna was mushy instead of small pieces stop the mashed avocado. I did not find this especially appealing. What really set this dish apart from other Japanese places where I have eaten it was the crunch bits on top, the accompanying wasabi chips and sprinkling of micro greens. Nice touch but not worth $24 which is about double what I have paid at other dining establishments. A review of the menu shows that sushi prices are twice the cost of other Japanese places in town. I ordered what I will call their Signature Roll (not its real name) at $24. I tried to tie my leftovers to their menu without success. Was it good? Yes. The crunch bit on top were different. Was it worth the hefty roll price tag? Hmmm ... not sure. Service was attentive, 5 stars. If you are looking for a new take on sushi and have deep pockets, then definitely give Omakase a try. The menu has many chef reactions that you will not find elsewhere. And because I am a sushi aficionado and love creativity in dining, I will return to experience other interesting items on the menu. The chef's creative approach to sushi gets 5 stars. Keep in mind that street parking can be a challenge (as it was for the former 30 Lake). I give Omakase 4-1/2 stars.

They're very friendly here, and the complimentary mini spring rolls at the start of your meal, and the orange slices at the end were both nice touches.
