My number one recommendation for coming here is to have a list of what you need/are looking for because you couldn't possibly just browse the shelves like you would at Joann's or Michaels. The prices are insanely low and are the reason I keep coming back for my projects despite the lengthy drive from my home. The workers are all very kind and generous, often measuring lengths of fabrics and trims more with their heart than the rulers. I have never had an unpleasant experience with fine fabrics and I visited their Norcross location many a time, as well. If you're looking to stock up on materials, make a wedding dress, or your next cosplay, Fine Fabrics would be my number one choice for fabric and notions.

My only complaint is that it can be hard to navigate the aisle due to all the merchandise, the building has an unpleasant smell, and figuring out the price can be hard. That said, once you hear what the price is, you will likely be thrilled. Also if you are interesting in making costumes? They are right down the street from Reynolds Advanced Materials making this place a winner for two stop shopping cosplayers.

They're located in the downtown shopping district, about a five minute walk from the Decatur MARTA Station. The bold patterns and pops of color in the window caught my eye as I was driving down E. Ponce de Leon. I circled back, parked on the street and went inside to explore. They have a variety of merchandise: African print fabrics Masks and wood pieces Woven bowls Jewelry Purses, backpacks and sandals Wraps and scarves Kente and Greek graduation stoles A few racks are filled with ready-made men's and women's clothing but fabric is really their forte. Hundreds of beautiful swatches line the walls. Most prints are $7 a yard but the silks go for $12.50 a yard. Since I haven't ticked "learn to sew" off my bucket list yet, I felt in over my head looking at all that cloth. Fortunately, they have contact info for seamstresses so once I have a pattern I can choose the fabric and get something made. It might make sense for them to sell patterns but since they don't I'll need to find one elsewhere. Anyway, I left with a cowrie shell necklace for the boy and two pieces of jewelry for myself. Sadly, this trip I needed some pattern paper quickly to draft a pattern that I'm trying to finish ASAP! Would you believe that not only did the staff not know what this was, but they didn't carry it. I was sent to 2 separate locations in the store and found only pattern tracing paper! An entire half of the store is devoted to sewing and they don't have any sort of drafting paper? I found a bolt with less yardage than I needed, and she volunteered to send someone to the back to hunt for another bolt. Prices seem reasonable and selection is huge. Lots of bridal fabrics, lots of glittery skater costume type fabrics, linen, wool, and oodles of trims.
