I love Fabric World! I never know what I will find -- but when I need upholstery fabric for table drapes or pillow shams, this is THE place to go. The staff is super helpful, and of course the fabric is beyond affordable -- usually $4 a yard or less. Last week I saw 54" wide rolls of block-printed African prints that would have cost oodles in a higher-end store. For $5 a yard. This is the place to go if you are willing to hunt, and if you don't confuse bare-bones displays for a lack of quality. There is always something different, as well, but make sure that you get enough of what you need, because most of the rolls are discontinued / remnants, and you likely won't find that roll again. Fabric World used to have more apparel fabrics, jumbled onto huge tables. During the first year of the pandemic I picked up serious quality cotton - -Robert Kaufmann -- for $3/yard. They aren't carrying the quilting cotton remnants any longer, unfortunately, and the cotton on bolts doesn't feel nearly as high quality. It's also oriented more towards kids' prints. If you are making clothes for rapidly growing kids, though, it's exactly what you'd need! There are a few tables of apparel fabrics left. I've gotten quality linen there, though the bulk is rayon / polyester / viscose / stretch fabrics. If you love fabrics and want to hunt ... this is your place! I absolutely recommend this fabric store. They mostly have upholstery fabric, in all colors and designs ranging from classic bowl prints to Afrocentric prints and classic contemporary prints. If you're into reupholstering, making curtains, or making throw pillows or even a DIY'er you would certainly love Fabric World. Today's price was $3. per yard and the choices were above and beyond fantastic. The young lady who helped me (Kimberly) was amazing and extremely helpful. Omg. My hobby found this store for me when I visited him at Stone Mountain he took me here. I was a kid in a candy store. The first time I went I got 20 yards of fabric for 50.00. Second time I went I got 50 yards of fabric for 140.00. Awesome deals . They need more stores like this. I will go back if I get to visit hubby again. read more

It's not glamorous, but it's cheap and you can find some amazing quality cuts of fabric.

This place is actually a secret that I don't want anyone to know about! We "loyals" don't want anyone getting our stuff! True that you never know what you will find. You are likely to not find exactly what is on your shopping list, but you will be so tickled with things you DO find that you won't care. I often use the large amounts of yardage for event staging. Better than buying a tablecloth or expensive draping. The biggest problem with this place of the HOURS!!! If you work it's hard to get there. I love this place. You never know what you'll find. As a Historical Re creationist, you can spend a lot of money on fabric, especially when your dress is 12-14 yards of fabric! Just recently, I walked out of there with Embroidered Silk fabric at $1.00 a yard!! I got an ENTIRE SPOOL (about 12 yards on it) of silk tassel trim for $4.00 I got buttons made of antler horn for one penny each. And 60" wide heavy (carpet weight) Persian patterned woven fabric to carpet my entire tent for $1.99 a yard. The owner is great, and is not above cutting fabric, helping a customer or running the cash register. If you want something specific, he'll find it for you and order it if he can. The employees are mentally present (as opposed to the vacant headed types you usually find) and always willing to chat or joke around. The only down side is that they are closed on Sunday and Monday. But if that means that I have to shop Tuesday, I'll do it gladly when I see how MUCH MONEY I SAVE! read more

This is the place for cheap decorator fabrics & accessories. I'm recovering a vintage sofa and two antique chairs - all of which require that everything except the wood be replaced. I purchased foam for half of what another fabric store charged (1/3 for Joann's); the upholstery fabric was $3.00 a yard (10% of what I'd budgeted); and the batting was 75% less! 18x18 throw pillows were $3.99, compared to $10 at Hobby Lobby. The owners buy out stock of closing stores, thus the cheap prices. The only downside is that sometimes it's hard to find current patterns and colors. I wasn't able to find accent colors. I spent a little over half of the total I budgeted for sofa fabric - on all that I needed!! I've been in several times and didn't find the customer service to be stellar, but I didn't find it to be awful, either. They're always busy and maybe that comes off as aloof to some customers. All in all, I don't mind aloof if it means a savings of several hundred dollars! read more

Here's the lowdown: They have the best prices anywhere within driving range of Atlanta. You can get lush upholstery-grade fabrics- velvets, jacquards, tapestries- for $2.99 a yard; the selection is typically huge. They sell basics like calicos, knits and interfacing for $1.99 a yard. They have specialty fabrics like vinyl, felt, plastic. They have a large selection of elaborate trims ranging from $1.00-$3.99 a yard. They sometimes carry accents like buckles, buttons, snaps and bows, in bulk quantities. There's always a discount sale, usually 50% off a category of item. All of this makes them a very dangerous stop for anyone trying to save money or closet space. Downsides- They're closed Sunday and Monday. It's a factory-floor environment, where you have to serve yourself. The cutting/checkout service can be very slow, and lines can be long. Their remnants are not discounted ($2.99 a yard). Their stock is random; overstock from industrial sources- it can't be ordered, and you can't go there expecting to find staple products. Overall, an indispensable resource for costumers and home decorators. For everyone else, worth a look! read more

Great place for ulphostery fabric and cotton fabric for quilting. The prices are unbelievable! We were traveling on an airplane and really didn't have room for additional parcels. Umm. Hmm. This store isn't quite was I was looking for, but considering the lack of choices in fabric stores in Atlanta I like to go here because I can find cheap interesting fabrics to make dresses out of. Mind you, these are dresses that could have been drapes or couch coverings but I can still find some treasures in here for $1-$2 per yard and fabrics that I can use for lining and in place of muslin for like 80 cents. I just gave 3 stars because it's not what I was looking for as far as fabric stores for clothing, it's (like most other fabric stores in Atlanta) for interior design and the selection is kind of...eh... eclectic... but it's orderly, it's spacious, the people are friendly and nice and the fabric is pretty cheap. read more

Great fabric store. There are quite a few tables just piled high with fabric. You have to dig through them. It wasn't to bad. I found lots of things I liked and the prices were great. They do have lots of upholstery fabric and bolts of fabric for good prices also. I will go back. They say they get new fabric everyday. read more

Ok...I understand that this is a discount store,BUT I just received the most awful service here. I spent time looking for what I wanted when the manager snatched it from my hands and said it wasn't for sale. That she had put it out by mistake. Fair enough,but the mistake wasn't my fault and she should have made a customer accommodation NOT be rude to me! So.... absolutely NO customer service or professional behavior. This is not an off brand Joann's, Hancock, or Hobby Lobby, so if you're looking for quilting fabric or a cute calico for a little girl's dress, this is not the place for you probably. However, if you're looking for decorator fabric or just something different for clothes, this is the place. It is aimed for decorators, so maybe these clothes will be costumes, but you never know. You never know just what you'll find, but it's worth checking out. Nearly everything is $3.99 a yard or less, and if you catch a sale, it can be as low as $1 a yard! And you just might find the fabric for that dress for your daughter. Notions are also low, and if you ever needed tassels, this is your place. As far as customer service, most workers are not overly friendly, but they certainly weren't rude to me. The manager or owner (I'm not sure) was really nice. I love this store, if I didn't live 3 hours away I'd be there all the time! The ladies that do the measuring of remnants are friendly and happy to help. I found lots of nice, quality sweater knits for only $2.99 a yard. Lots of nice small cotton pieces if you quilt. Sometimes pieces have 3-4 yards, sometimes 1/4 a yard. Make sure you have at least an hour to dig through the bins for the best deals! read more

At first I was a regular customer in the Stone Mountain, GA store...the selection was assorted - a mix of apparel and home dec fabrics - and the prices were very good - example: Waverly Imperial Dress for $3.99 per yard and no flaws. And if you had made a purchase that did not work for you, they would give you store credit for your purchase. But the last time that I bought fabric there and needed to return it because the color was not right, they would not do a store credit or any thing else ... they said that fabric was no longer returnable, even thought there were no signs at the time that I bought it and only one small sign up now. The sales/floor manager person was very crass about the return policy and did not want to contact the store manager/owner so that I could talk to them. After having bought hundreds of dollars of fabric from them and sending lots of new customers to them, I will no longer shop there and will try to caution people not to go there. read more

i really trully love this store.... first off, the people who work there are awesome and very helpful... and i even known them to cheer me up when i am feeling low!! i am from ny, so i would never expected to find these prices. the last time i went in i was looking for fabric to make a bed spread, canopy, pillows, shams and drapes... well did i hit the jackpot? yes!!!! they was having a table sale... any thing under 2 yards was $1.oo per piece..... and any thing 2 yards and up was $2.00 a piece... surfice it to say i spent $23.00 with tax and had over 65 yards of fabric ( some pieces were over 10 yards) enough to make everything and some left over that i made extra pillows with. now i had gotten all they had on the table and was digging hard for more so the owner went in the back found so more and i brought all he had found!!!! every time i go there i leave extremly happy!!!! i love this store.... i get tassels that i have seen elsewhere for $8.00 i paid $0.99..... trim that i have paid $6 or $7.00 a yard for $ 3 or $4 for the whole reel. i go no where else for my fabric!!!!!! i do interior decorating and make all types of spreads, window treatments so this store is a true gem to me!!!!! i highly endorse fabric world!!!!! read more

i really wanted to like this place but after only being there a total of 5 minutes the store manager says to me "your children can be here but can't touch the fabric.... no food allowed in store"..... first of all my children were in a stroller, the child in question is 2 and was snacking on goldfish crackers, not one sign about no food/drink allowed was posted. it's not as if she were eating a messy burger. his approach was rude and obviously customer service isn't important to this place. the few minutes that i was there the prices seemed nice but not a lot of 'pretty' fabrics. i would of gladly been a repeat customer but i will never go back there. they really should watch how they treat people. i have several friends who are designers, quilters and sewers who are always looking for good fabric places.... i was sent there to check it out for them, can you guess what my report will say? you've been warned. read more
