My Wife and I are regular customers at this location. Usually the food is excellent and the entertainment is great. Today was not that day. We took a friend and her daughter to get the hibachi experience. It started off with our cook that had ZERO personality. The guy did not even smile really. I get it if you hate your job but there should be a standard. He did not do any of your typical hibachi antics. The only one was spinning the utensils in the beginning and also lighting the big fire. That's it! Not really a care for us because we have seen the show before but for the little girl we felt bad she didn't get the full experience. Same cook put almost no seasoning on the food and it was the most bland food I have ever had here. My wife then asked to take the rest of her food home and they threw it out. Someone came around to ask how we were doing and my wife spoke up about the deteriorating service and no one seemed to care much. The guy gave a very insincere sorry and promised us a good show the next time. Customer service is not what it used to be. I'm not asking for anything free. Not at all. Horrible Service!!!! Subpar food!! My family and I had wanted to try it for a while now so we were pretty excited. You can imagine how upset we were after trying the food and seeing our bill. Let's start with the subpar food. Ohana prides itself with their "Jap-a-Rican" meal, which is supposed to be a Latin-fusion Japanese food. The only thing that made it somewhat Latin was the inclusion of fried plantains and red beans. Everything else was just a regular chicken hibachi. The chicken was tough, rubbery and had no seasoning. The rice was dry and hard. The noodles were fried with no salt, pepper or vegetables. Their onion/mushroom soup was basically hot water with some mushrooms & onions floating in it. Now, let's move on to the horrible service. The waitress not only spoke very little English, she could not understand anything I was asking her about the food. We wound up ordering four sushi rolls for an appetizer and saw that it would be a problem when the hibachi chef came out and starting cooking our meals. The chef finished cooking and we still hadn't received our rolls. Every time we saw the waitress, we kept trying to call her over to let her know we didn't receive our appetizers and she said, "Yeah yeah it's coming" and would walk away. At this point, we were pretty much finished with our dinner when 2 out of the 4 rolls came to our table. I told the waitress to cancel the appetizers since we were already done eating and she yelled back at me saying in broken English, "It already cook, I cannot cancel" and then proceeded to shove the sushi back at me. We got billed for all 4 rolls when at this point only half came out. When I tried to complain, the manager told me that this is how it is and I need to pay the bill. This is customer service at its lowest. How can you run a restaurant like this? The popular motto "The customer is always right" definitely does not ring a bell with these people. My family and I will never eat at this establishment ever again. This place should lose their license and go into the swindling business. Find yourself a new place to eat, people. Went here for a birthday celebration, I gotta say the owner was prob the only highlight of the night! He was very welcoming and also sat us down quicker than expected. As for the food blahhhh hibachi chicken was disgusting. Rice was under cooked and shrimp were probably the only reason why I gave it a third star. Great family atmosphere at affordable prices. The comical Hibachi chefs entertain you as they masterfully wield knives while preparing your food, occasionally tossing a shrimp(in good humor) at the patrons. For 20 bucks, you can get a chicken Hibachi meal which includes soup, salad, appetizers, main course and a dessert. You really can't go wrong. Just watch out for the flying shrimp. read more

You certainly need not go to City Island for a good hibachi meal. Leave City Island to the seafood restaurants! Considering that hibachi restaurants have popped up everywhere, I recommend you stick to the others. This place is loud, unimpressive, and has bland small meals (compared to other hibachi places). I had a groupon for this place, and a soft spot for city island. I used to frequent Sammy's, but realized how much of city island I was missing. Enter Ohana- a place I must have passed a hundred times. Walking in, the place looks posh compared to the lobster houses. A bar with high ceilings, and a great selection of spirits. We had a groupon for 4, and were seated with 2 other guys. The drinks were great, (mango madness) and the food was superb. All entrees come with soup, salad, and some shrimp, rice, and lo mien, in addition to the protein you select. I had 0 complaints. We ordered the chicken, shrimp, and salmon. The hibachi chef was the best I have ever had. He made everything into a heart for us! This place is another hidden gem on City Island, and I will surely be back. Great value without groupon also! I've been here twice and I have to say I really like it. The staff is great, the prices aren't terrible and while I know Edo has been the hot spot for ages, I don't think one's better than the other. Ohana is fun, but like most Teppanyaki, overpriced for what it is. They do all the basics like the flaming onion and tossing food into your mouth..I guess maybe I'm just bored with all of that hoping to see something cooler one of these days. Rolls looked like it was made by someone who just started learning cooking, sushi deluxe was just horrible with old dry smelly fish, rice was dried, and presentation was so bad that as it came out, we lost our appetite and just left after trying out 2 pieces. I've come to this restaurant three times. The first two very enjoyable. The last time left a bad taste. We had a party of three and we were sat down with another party of three. The waitress distributed three plates for our party and two plates for the other party. That party included a child (about 3-4 years old). The cook apparently knew them or they were frequent diners. At many points through the food distribution he would cut my party short and give seconds to the other party. That caused me to be upset and I said something about it because the other party did not mention the unfairness. The cook didn't say sorry instead he decided to make fun of me because I thought it was unfair and was making the rest of my party uncomfortable. I do not believe that was the right thing to do since we were all paying the same but not getting the right amount of food. If I ever decide to come back and see this cook approach the table, I'm asking for another one. read more

Wow - talk about the worst experience in a restaurant! First off, we waited half an hour just to get our drink order. The food took over an hour. The chef spoke no English, did not do the Hibachi show thing, burned our rice, mixed up our order, and, to add final insult, the bill came for the whole table, even though we were two different parties.
