I walked by this place today and saw their glowing reviews which made I decided to check in on my way home. It took less than 15 minutes to get my order made. I ordered 6 Shrimp dumplings to go and asked if they also made steamed dumplings and the answer was they could boil them for me... I should have just said politely said no thank you and left, but I really wanted to give this place a try. Once I tried them, the taste was just not at all what I had in mind. Not sure if it was because of the chives or eggs in them. I wasn't allergic or anything and yes, I saw the ingredients on the board before ordering them. It was just the taste that made me feel like I've had more tasty ones. I might give it a try again in the future, but for now I have to give it 3 stars based on the taste. FYI, they do delivery as I saw a few people came in to pick up their orders. There's also a small seating area that could use some cleaning as well. Honestly, for their prices that are pretty affordable, you should still give it a try because you might like it. Who knows, I might have a better luck next time,too. read more

The TL;DR - The bing crepes are good. The dumplings could use work. They take credit cards, and they're super nice. And they serve dumpling sauce in a giant glass drink dispenser, which is hilarious. I had the original bing because they ran out of braised beef (bummer). It was light and flakey, but I really had a hankering for more savory. So I went back to the counter and ordered the rainbow set of dumplings (1 of each of their five, minus the wonton). The shrimp was the best one. The rest were just bland. The chicken was super mushy. Everything could've used more salt, or soy sauce marinade. Service was quick though. Note that there are only 3 seats here, so pickup is probably the way to go. read more

I tried this place twice. First time was one year ago, second time was today. Me and my Chinese wife were not impressed the first time but I wanted to give them a second chance today. It's not great. My wife doesn't like it but you could say she has a chinese acquired taste. The thing is, I was also not impressed, especially by the kind of dumpling wrapper they have. It's thick and not chewy. The base must be wrong and in addition it's probably overcooked. I got the shrimp and vegan boiled dumpling and we didn't finish the whole thing. This is a much-needed addition to Cobble Hill and I am so excited it's finally here! This is a super tiny restaurant, so it's not ideal for eating inside unless you're by yourself or with one other person (there are only 3 barstools against the bar area at the window). That said, this is the perfect spot for people who are in the mood for dim sum or Jianbing. Here are a few situations in which this is an awesome place for you to visit: 1) you like dim sum 2) you work close by 3) you live close by 4) you are hungry and on the way to the subway 5) you are hungry post-work out at the many gyms and studios in the area 6) you want some precious time alone in this crowded city and you want to eat by yourself Today was their soft-opening and you could tell. There were three guys working and they were a little overwhelmed, but that's to be expected any time you open a much-awaited restaurant here. I waited about 20 minutes before I put my order in (meanwhile, a couple people left during this time) and about 10 minutes before my dumplings were ready. They had a bit of trouble keeping up with the demand (it's a tiny place, you can only do so much at one time!), and the flow in taking orders vs cooking the orders was a bit off. (They were making a couple orders when I came in, which is why I didn't get to put my order in until about 20 minutes later.) All that said, I honestly think it's just the first day jitters. Working in a restaurant during peak times is chaotic, so I can only imagine actually *opening* a place during peak lunch hour. I'm sure they'll smooth out the process and flow as they get everything figured out. Now, the dumplings. I had 6 boiled pork and 8 pan-fried veggie (6 for $6, 8 for $7). The veggie were by far my favorite and I'd 100% get them again. Only a few of the 8 were as seared as I'd like, but I'll attribute that to the rush and first day, because the flavors and dumplings themselves were really good. The pork were just okay to me. They're made with pork, corn and cabbage, and the green wrapper coloring is from vegetable extracts. I think I just expected more flavor. That said, I will definitely be back to try the other options (shrimp, veggie, pork, beef, chicken and spicy wonton dumplings, jianbing and various sides like congee and braised beef). I'll end this with the prices and say that they are super reasonable. Much better than I anticipated. Can't wait to go back and support new addition to Cobble Hill! read more

Came here because the crowd outside drew me in, so wanted to know what the big fuss was about. I ordered the 8 pork dumplings and the bing. The dumplings had a good flavor and was surprised to have corn in each bite, which was good. The sauce that came with the dumplings was the highlight. It was great with a nice kick that came from the pepper. The dumplings were very delicate and broke, so I would suggest making sure that they are wrapped well so that way the juices can stay inside. The bing was okay. Maybe because I got the plain one? I am used to the ones that they have in Flushing, but this was okay for Brooklyn. Definitely a much needed spot in the area. read more

Absolutely outstanding. I have become weary of trying new dumpling places (especially for delivery) because of terrible past experiences. Let me say, my husband and I were SHOCKED by how delicious all of our food was. We ordered a bunch of different things: pan seared chive and pork dumplings, lamb mo burger, wontons in spicy sauce, beef noodle soup, and chicken congee. HOLY MOLY, everything was insanely fresh and packed with flavor. My husband literally devoured the burger in about 2 minutes flat. The dumplings, each with its own texture, were bursting with juicy filling and spice. The chicken congee was PERFECT, especially for a hangover (won't tell you how I know that). I will say the beef broth was a bit on the salty side -- not sure if this is because beef bouillon was used which tends to contain a lot of sodium, but the flavor was still delicious and I'd still give 5 stars to this establishment. If you're on the fence about ordering from here, don't hesitate! You definitely won't regret it. New favorite spot! read more

Wow! I can't believe I worked in this neighborhood for a whole year before trying this place. The vegetarian dumplings are delicious, vegetables and tofu. 6 is enough of a meal for me, but you can order 8 for an extra dollar. It's not your 46 Eldridge st 10 dumplings for a dollar, but this is Cobble Hill after all. Your choice boiled or fried, the boiled is my recommendation. No outdoor seating, so order to go. Positives: The dumplings were well seasoned in my opinion, contrary to some other reviews. Personally, I don't like things over-salted; the dumpling filling was was not over salted. I could still taste the ingredients. The dumplings had good amount of filling in them. Zha Jiang noodles were SPICY, which was what I was looking for! Negatives: I only received five pork chive dumplings vs. six. The outside dough of the dumplings was slightly too thick in my opinion. The overall size of the dumplings are ok. The noodles felt/tasted like they've been sitting out. I also wish the dish had more sauce. The store could be cleaner, less messy. I know it's a very small spot but they could make it more presentable. I also think if they updated all of the signs and pictures, the store would look much nicer, organized, professional and more inviting. Pretty good food! Got 3 Chive Pork and 3 Beef boiled dumplings (charged like the Rainbow combination set) and the Zha Jiang noodles. I definitely like boiled over fried for the dumplings. The chive/pork and chicken dumplings are some of the best dumplings I have had. You can tell the ingredients are very fresh and the dumplings are cooked to perfection. Craving wontons and didn't want to haul a$$ all the way to Flushing (The Brooklyn struggle) so decided to order from here via Caviar. The wontons in chili oil are solid especially compared to my Flushing favorites. However I paid $9 for 8 dumplings so the value isn't as great but understandable based on location. (Used to paying $6 for 12). However, knocked off stars because the Zha Jiang noodles I ordered were basically Zha Jiang sauce over cheap store bought spaghetti pasta noodles. How are you making delicious handmade dumplings along side of cheap processed ITALIAN pasta noodles? The disrespect. Should be a crime because the sauce was decent but I had to just throw them out. Oh Dumplings makes the most amazingly tasty and delicious food! Today I ordered a Shrimp Mo Burger, Chicken Chives Dumplings and a Lamb Bing. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because the Lamb Bing barely had lamb on it and the few lamb pieces had a lot of fat. Stoked with this new addition to the neighborhood! Small space, all good. The fried beef dumplings were solid, not mind blowing, but I'd definitely get them again. But the Chinese signature crepe with braised beef was soooo good. It might be my new favorite Chinese street food item. This dish will bring me back....a lot. I'm craving it now that I speak of it. The fungi and cucumber was ok. I don't think worth the size and price. And very little fungi in my serving. Also someone posted that they have combo meals on the chalkboard, but that is no longer the case. Total bummer as I think with the combo I would try all their sides if I could. Favorite go to spot for dumplings- I always get the rainbow set and my partner gets the spicy shrimp wonton! Dumplings always taste fresh and are not super doughy.
