I don't know why people keep talking about the pizza. The pizza is good, if you like the crisp-tender style of crust rather than the crunchy-chewy kind, but what blows my mind here is the BURGER SPECIAL. These burgers give me a funny feeling inside. And the fries make me tingle. They actually season the meat, which is something that even home cooks don't always know to do. The bun is awesome. And holy hell the special sauce. Once I got some kind of garlic cilantro mayo and another time some kind of chipotle mayo. Laid on thick. Maybe it was even Miracle Whip because it would not be toned down.... I'm getting tears in my eyes right now. Some kind of awesome cheese. Lettuce, tomatoes. Comes with fries with yummy seasoning. Not every burger has the magic mayo; once I got a special which had salsa and avocado. Still the best patty out there. I've been a Bartley's fan for years, but this is hands-down the better burger. After reading another Yelper's review of the Oggi burger special, I just had to go try it. Oh my god, what an awesome burger! The fries are also awesome! I watched the expert chef there dropping the fries at exactly the right time so that the burger and fries would be ready at the same time. I forgot what kind of mayo-based sauce it was, but it was great. The extra sauce that leaked out of the burger was a nice dip for the fries, not that they needed any dip. Oggi Gourmet is the type of place that more or less met the hype. I'm glad I checked it out. The turkey sandwich was absolutely great. You know it's a good Cambridge/Boston place because it received a Best-Of award (I think 2004... so yeah, several years back). I went with four other people, and each ordered something different. Everyone gave thumbs up. A downside is that certain items are not allowed to go with the half-serving sandwich / soup combo, so just be aware of that. Probably best for take-out as there is limited seating. It'll get crowded really quick. Even though I went with several people, it's better to go with 1-2 other friends max. It's a tight establishment with a limited number of seats. WARNING: Be wary if you're a tourist in the area and reading this. Your GPS will likely freak out. Located in a nice , vibrant environment. The first word that my friend used when we got there was "Cozy", Yes, despite a college environment , it feels very cozy. We can sit outside the store on the walkway which gives a more social feel to the experience. And BTW, they have the best hamburger. I love Oggi because it is indoors, it takes credit cards, the pizza is FANTASTIC and very reasonably priced; one slice is pretty sufficient and the crust is really crisp and full of flavor, I can get a variety of coffee or tea drinks, and the place is very low-traffic at the times that I go, and hence very clean. The music creates a great ambiance for the cozy little spot. The products that are offered are high quality (full-leaf teas and artisan potato chips). As a Harvard student who eats at irregular times, I am constantly frustrated at the dirty atmosphere that haunts many of the popular joints in the square that offer cheap and reasonably fast food. When I want something quick, I'm stuck with either the dirtiness of ABP, the cash-only constraints of Noch's and Felipes, and the $6 minimums at Qdoba. (And the kinda small burritos at Boloco.) It's also a much better coffee meeting place than the overtaxed Starbucks in the Garage or Peet's, both of which are constantly mobbed and the people who work there are just trying to rush you out. One of the best pizzas I have tried in Boston. The dough that they use for their pizzas is ridiculously good... lordy lordy. The unique texture of it and how well it ties in the marinara, cheese, and toppings altogether allows my palate to go on cloud 9. It is crispy yet soft enough to chew and mix in with the other flavors, rather than the crust breaking apart or even scraping the roof of your mouth. Also, another great alternative to their 'za are their burgers. The way they cook their patties and assemble their burgers reminds me of those burger commercials... coming out perfect every single time. Not to mention they have great specials. They have burger of the day which includes fries for only $6. Also, their $5 "large" basil pizza on Monday evenings is phenomenal. I've been a fan of their pizza since it was located in a small kitchen in Jamaica Plain, and continued being their fan when they were in Boston. They were easily accessible for me when they were there, now I have to make a special trip to get the best pizza in the USA. The cherry tomatoes, roasted almonds and goat cheese are divine! As are all the other ones. I did try a pizza at Baba Louies somewhere in the Berkshires and that was insane too. So... If you want the Sicilian pizza you go to pinoccio's, and if you want regular pizza - you come to Oggi. The pizza itself gets 5 stars, hands down. There's no local competition for this place if you like the traditional style. The dough tastes heavenly. Pizza isn't too greasy, or else I wouldn't be eating it in the first place. The minus one star is for lack of speed. Also, if you get any sandwich, they load it up to the point where you could never fit it in the mouth. This is my favorite place for a quick slice of Pizza in cambridge. That said, the atmosphere eating in is akin to a mall cafeteria, so don't go here expecting anything else. The chef of this Pizza place is creative and very friendly. There are often unique daily pizza flavors available. There was another restaurant outside where I originally went in. My experience was so bad that all I cared to remember was that it was yellow. Doorman was rude when we walked in and cashier yelled saying bathroom is for customers only. When I asked for a croissant, and inquired if it was made with eggs. The lady threw it away saying I'm wasting their food.. when I did not even touch it. So when we went inside, I found Oggi. The employees were polite and very helpful. I first thought the sandwich was overpriced, but the combination of the grilled sandwich, and fresh cheese and vegetables sunk into my taste buds. One of the best vegetarian sandwiches I've ever had. Right before we left, they apologized for not having fries which come with their sandwiches since it was very early and have us chips for free. I love this place! This little shop has a great business model. They are very good at what they do: The grilled pressed caprese and Oggi Reuben are juicy and rich in flavor. Daily lunch special ranges from pork lion plate to grilled salmon. Their Oggi burger is a divine as well and they do change the toppings daily. I have ate at this place for many times and I have never been disappointed in the quality of food. I personally do not eat pizza often but the waiter did recommended the pizza specials for me at a ridiculous low price. I guess it is good news for pizza lovers, so check it out :) read more

I was hungover. I was hungry. I went to Oggi for a spicy roast beef sandwich. I was disappointed. I didn't have any sort of grandiose expectations for this place, especially since I went there without even Yelping it first (shocking, I know). But my supposedly "spicy" roast beef sandwich wasn't spicy at all. The lettuce was slightly brown and wilted. And the fries that came with it were soggy and clearly hadn't been made recently. What's saving OggiGourmet from a one star review? A couple of things. Despite being a little on the bland side, my sandwich was decently sized and stuffed with plenty of tender roast beef, which is just what my ravenous tummy needed. The workers were friendly and service was fast. I think my big mistake was ordering a sandwich instead of the pizza that everyone is raving about in their reviews. So I was fortunate enough to work on the construction for their current location and the two brothers that run the joint are nice an pleasant as can be they made a habit of bringing food down to the guys and I've been coming back ever since. Grab a muffin for breakfast they're made fresh daily, the breakfast sandwich options are always top notch as well as any other sandwiches or pizza options. My biggest regret is that haven't tried everything yet but I've never been disappointed with what I've gotten and they when I do try everything they always have a new special pizza or sandwich of the day to try. Raising my 3 stars to 4 stars after trying their $5 medium tomato basil pizza on Monday night. Before that, I'd only had individual slices, which were kinda soggy. The pizza here is delicious. The salted crust is a nice touch. The sandwiches are also pretty good, but not earth shatteringly delicous. They come with fries which is great. Fries aren't the greatest in the world, but do the job just fine! What I'm not fond of is their customer service. Several times when I've placed orders, I've been met with confusion when I go to pick it up. When I moved to Boston and began my quest for decent pizza, I heard many rave about Oggi. Aside from the fact that they all BUTCHERED the name of the pizzeria (which is also their fault for choosing an Italian word that is clearly too difficult for the average American to pronounce), the pizza was also almost apalling. Clearly, no one here has had proper pizza. Coming from NY, my expectations are pretty high, but even so this pizza did not come NEAR my standards. I always knew Boston didn't have the best pizza, but I was successfully able to find edible slices at a few places. After trying Oggi I felt completely ripped off. I'm not sure if it is a different dough recipe or maybe the different water, but the consistency of the bread is outright awful and gummy. The sauce is flavorless, sweet at best (reminiscent of ketchup) and the (lack of) cheese didn't help. The slices are expensive if you ask me, especially for what you are getting. I also really dislike how their daily special slice always has a wierd name that does not describe what is on the pizza. You have to go up and specifically ask what toppings are on it, and so far the staff has never been compliant to just tell me without giving me a hard time. Like I should just KNOW what toppings go on a "singing in the rain". Bad pizza, bad service. I think 2 stars is generous. Update: I came back to try to give Oggi another chance (as I was already in Holyoke and it was pouring rain outside). I had a worse experience this time than I did last time. This time I tried the basil and garlic classic slice (sorry I can't memorize the unlisted toppings for your weirdly named pizzas, Oggi). Though the basil and garlic added some flavour that the slice desperately needed, the service was just awful. We waited an extremely long time for them to just warm up a slice of plain pizza. I wandered up and down from the tables to the counter many times with no luck. Finally one of the people working there asked the guy in the kitchen if they had my special slice ready, to which I responded that I did not ORDER the special slice and just wanted a plain one. Then when it was finally ready, they didn't even call us up to get it but rather let it sit on the counter until I got tired of waiting again and decided to check. The pizza was so not worth it. And why is it that Oggi doesn't offer a menu with the names of all the pizzas and the toppings list? Sometimes I wonder if they just make it up as they go that morning... 2 points.... Digiorno's and ragu pizza sauce.... Let me pontificate... GF saw this on Phantom gourmet so we decided to try it. I being from philly and not finding one good pizza here in boston yet. We headed down orded the 5$ pizza special and the sausage pepper and onion pizza we pick up and immediately have a slice This pizza is exactly like Digiorno's pizza fluffy crust with no flavor and actually sort of gummy .. like undercooked. Yes Digiorno's, the kind you get at the supermarket frozen Too much basil, cheese was sparse. The sauce.. nonexistent adn no taste. So much so we went home and actually dipped the pizza in Ragu pizza sauce to give it some flavor Seriously you people are on crack of you think this is good pizza.
