This review is long overdue. I located this company based on an ad in Alloy & Grit magazine. Essentially, Off The Grid Rentals has a few locations but they are done in partnership with independent shops, in this case Spirit Off-Road. (I'll do a separate review for them too.) I rented one of their rear-drop camping trailers for a trip to Zion with my son for his birthday. The staff at Spirit Off-Road was incomparable in their friendliness, willingness to help, and how accommodating they were in helping my son and I secure a rental. They were even willing to drag the trailer out just so we could have a look at it. The trailer has a list of available amenities to make tour stay comfortable. A complete kitchenette with a stove, sink, and available refrigerator. 30 gallons of non-heated water. A locking cargo cage (perfect for firewood). It has a stereo, USB chargers, and lighting all powered by a solar rechargeable battery system. The interior was plenty comfortable for both my son and I. (He's 8 years old and not too big and I'm 6'1" / 190). The interior is well lit and warm. The small shelving and cabinets inside make for great storage of items. The tires & wheels are more than off-road capable. The trailer is high grade construction and extremely durable and sturdy. This is not some cheaply made gimmick trailer. The little tear drop is a real conversation starter and we had at least half a dozen people approach us about the rental. Things to consider or some "now I know for next time's": Disconnect the trailer from your tow vehicle as the electrical system will draw off the battery overnight. The kitchen is kind of tall so if you're a shorty then a step ladder may be a good plan. We had a good rain so our cage of firewood needed to dry. We should've laid a tarp over it once we arrived or just bought bagged wood. The ARB refrigerator was reasonably effective. Don't use the small void outside the basket though. Even though it seems handy it failed to keep our meat cold there and it all went bad. All the food in the basket mesh area was good though. We will absolutely rent here again. It was a wonderful trip and the trailer contributed considerably to our comfort and overall enjoyment. read more

We rented the teardrop & fridge for a 14 day drive up the PCH from LA to Portland and back, stopping and camping along the way. It was beyond handy to be able to roll up to a campsite, spend 5 minutes unhooking & setting up, taking the car into town, and returning back to a comfy bed ready to go, and great kitchen setup for cooking. Taking off in the morning was equally easy. My partner is pretty tall (6'4"), and he fit comfortably in the trailer. The sturdy wheel wells were handy for putting out shoes or drying dishes. The wide and tall tires kept the drive smooth. The kitchen was very functional, and made easier when standing on the stool, since it's pretty tall. Appreciated the pass-through and lighting. We didn't do much off-roading, but did need to park up some rocky roads around Big Sur, and the trailer handled it like a champ. We only used the sink a couple of times, but it worked well. We had some problems with the fridge, but the team was very responsive and resolved our issues as much as they could. We'll definitely want to use Off The Grid again (if we don't end up buying our own dream trailer like this one). Thanks! read more

How does this place have amazing reviews? Customer service is poor, rentals are hit or miss, install time and expertise is questionable. This place has nickle and dimed us over the years amd finally we will find another option going forward. I feel like these guys know there arent many options out there for rtt or tear drop rentals so they can provide poor service and steep prices without any issues. Our rtt this weekend opened up while driving and we were shocked but also not surprised given hold old and beat up the white pop up rtt was, not even sure what brand it was it was so janky. Did not report this issue to them given the shadyness somehow they would probably try to blame me for the issue. Our teardrop experience in the past was not as bad however. read more

Taking a family trip to the desert can be a challenge . It was a dry camp so we were looking a way to make getting off the grid as comfortable as possible for all of the age groups involved (8-65). Let me say this company has done an incredible job! This trailer is so well built and thought out. The one we rented comfortably slept 6, which is amazing for a teardrop. Our grandson said it was the best nights sleep he had ever had camping. We all agreed! The cooking and cleaning setup includes everything you need. The electric freezer/ice chest was fantastic. The solar panel keep everything fully charged for the entire trip. Water tank holds 30 gallons which was more than enough. The awning provides plenty of shade. Everyone said "we want one!" I've always loved camping, whether it's in a tent, in a hammock, or on the ground under the stars. Now Off the Grid Rentals has gone and spoiled that for me. After spending a wonderful weekend in one of their teardrop trailers, I'll never want to camp any other way. They've even spoiled me for other teardrop trailers, theirs are so good. The trailer was waiting for us when we arrived, and they had a ball mount and hitch ball for us to use. After a rundown of all the bells and whistles, we hitched the teardrop to the truck, got the taillights connected, and blasted off. We cruised the twisty Angeles Crest and Angeles Forest, and miles of windy desert highway. We meandered down bumpy dirt roads, no challenge for the upgraded suspension and wheels. We pitted at the race track, and then camped like kings in Joshua Tree. The wood interior is tricked out with a comfy full-size bed, plenty of storage, a sound system, and lots of interior and exterior LED lighting, electric outlets, and USB charging options, all sustained by the solar panel on the roof that charges the battery in the lockbox on the trailer tongue. Pretty cool. The kitchen in the back is badass, too. There's a sink and a 30 gallon water tank. A propane stove. More storage areas for kitchen items. We went with the refrigerated cooler option, which was a necessity in the desert heat. We also brought a separate beer cooler that we kept in the back of the pickup so there was ample room for food for the long weekend. The drop-off at the end of the weekend was no hassle. I was just sad to let it go. I'll be a repeat customer for sure. read more

The guys at Saints Off Road walked me through everything nicely and were kind enough to meet me early so I could get up the hills before the heat of the noon day. The trailer is off the charts in my opinion. Tough as nails, followed right behind my Rubicon so easy I forgot she was back there a couple times. Went off on some narrow roads and off the beaten path spots and to unhitch and be set up and cooking in 20 minutes was pretty sweet. The trailer is equipped perfectly functionally and everything works military like in its precision and ease of use. The inside is a lot more comfort than military. Big doors to get in and out. A stargazer window would be a nice add, but still, this trailer is a dream for people really wanting to get away - even from others who are getting away. 5 stars easy. go get you some. read more

Great staff. Very helpful and accommodating. I wanted to pick up the trailer on a Sunday, but since OTF is not open on weekends they had me pick it up on the Friday before at no extra cost. It was my first time renting any type of trailer and they walked me through the hookup on how everything works. They even let us use they're tow hitch since it sat higher than the one I had on my truck. The pickup did take a bit longer than expected just because they were fixing one of the tension poles on the back of the trailer. Worth the wait though since I didn't want the back hutch sliding down when cooking. Took the trailer to Zion NtP in January and was about 40 degrees. The trailer was warm enough but a good sleeping bag and some blankets are still needed. Definitely would rent again. read more

Staff was very helpful. Trailer was in good condition. Only draw back was that the propane tank wasn't full. Instead I was given two 16oz cans that weren't full either. The adapter for the tank was incorrect as well. The functionality of the trailer was nice. read more

After long time I tried to rent the teardrop trailer, I finally had the chance to do so for a long thanksgiving weekend in Glamis, CA and it was awesome. First the service I received in Saint Offroad was 5 stars, from the pickup to the return. The trailer arrived clean full of water and gas with some extra paper plates and plastic utensils. I drive a 2013 FJ Cruiser and I didn't feel almost any effect on my driving, on the trail it was piece of cake and climb rocky hills without much of an effort. The mattress is pretty comfortable and the trailer is pretty insulated from the environment temperature. Overall we had a great experience. read more

I almost never leave reviews but I rely on them so much so I decided that for OTG I had to leave a review. Highly recommend this business!!! We had a blast. From the online scheduler, to having to change our dates, to being able to pick up trailer on a Friday before our trip, to the customer service at the location in Glendora, everything was a top notch service!! Trailer itself was perfect, gave us the chance to see what it's like to go off-road (trails) while being able to sleep in comfort! Spent 3 days driving the Mojave trail with my brother and his family. We both rented OTG trailers and it inspired them to look into buying one for themselves! My husband and I already have a trailer on order but this was our chance to finally experience what it will be like and let me tell you, tent camping is over for us! off the grid rentals is the site and is great. i have rented 3 times from off the grid and the equipment and site are good. the service provider, All Saints is trash. echoing what some other reviewers have said, they are borderline dishonest. Once your vehicle is in the back, that is when the nickle and diming begin, if your vehicle is anything but basic prepare to bend over. keep in mind, this place touts themselves and they look like an off road shop, but apparently have no clue how the square tube, modular racks (that dominate the aftermarket industry) work. also if you decide to punish yourself be prepared to drop it off for what may seem like an easy straightforward installation, because it is going to take awhile. document everything, that's my advice. actually my advice is go somewhere else than all saints. read more

Used the tear drop trailer with the high county 3-5 person tent for a family trip to Joshua Tree. It was absolutely fantastic. It was so well thought out and equipped with everything we needed and beyond. The roof top tent was very comfortable and my son (boy scout) even commented that this was the best sleep he has had in a tent. During the trip, a rattle snake was found crawling under a tent right next to the trailer. He was safely captured and relocated away from the camp but the elevated sleeping felt even better after that. The solar panels kept everything fully charged including the ARB fridge. Camp stove and sink were great. Even had all the utensils. It was all straight forward and easy to set up and roll up at the end of the trip. We rented a SoCal Teardrop off-road trailer from Off The Grid Rentals/Saints Offroad for a week-long camping trip. It was great! My wife has begun to have trouble sleeping on pads, and we thought this would be a good alternative, fitting some wedge pillows into the cabin to give her the "zero-g" sleeping position she needs. It worked well. We both had excellent nights sleeping in the cabin, and were able to cook while outdoors, which was something we preferred to the indoor kitchen in a larger motorhome/trailer. It rained a few times on our trip, but we rigged some tarps over the back hatch and it was almost no inconvenience. The side awning worked perfectly, so between it and the tarps on the back we had a nice large dry area to walk and sit and eat. The stove, sink, and refrigerator were nice touches of luxury, and having solar cells to recharge the trailer battery was a comforting thing. The people at Saints were helpful and conscientious about making sure we knew how to handle the trailer. It came with full propane mini-tank for the stove, full 30-gallon water tank, several sets of sheets for the bed, some cooking gear (which we augmented), even a radio and power outlets in the cabin. We checked it out clean and tidy, and brought it back somewhat muddy, not a problem. I even noticed that they had stocked the front storage with a fix-a-flat, which we were fortunate not to need. In all, the experience was fantastic! I can strongly recommend Saints Offroad, and I'd be pleased to rent from them again. read more
