Terrific handyman! He showed up exactly when he said he would and started working his way through our to do list. On this first visit, he repaired two screen doors, recaulked a sink that was in horrible condition (now looks great), and installed a porch light. He also brainstormed solutions to a couple upcoming projects. He's a great communicator and problem solver, and his rates are very reasonable. So happy we found him here on Yelp! read more

Fantastic handyman. Easy to work with, prompt, and addresses whatever. I had him recaulk a tub, replace electrical outlets, fix the boarding under my sink and a few other items. All done quickly and well. Highly recommend. read more

Rob has cared for our house for decades. He is reliable, economical, skillful, thoughtful, and thorough. He converted an old hotwater heater enclosure to a pantry that is now essential. He built a cabinet to enclose a dishwasher. He rebuilt a bathroom fan whose motor had failed, fixed a hole in drywall, mounted an outdoor heater and many, many other things. Often Rob will think of an elegant, original, and inexpensive way to solve a problem. He anticipates what tools and supplies he will need, and brings them with him. He is considerate of our being at home, tidies up before he leaves, and bills reasonably for his time. Phoning and leaving him a voicemail is the best way to engage him. Rob returns calls promptly. read more

Did excellent work on the toilet and sinks at my rental property. Will hire again. Timely. Friendly. Reasonable prices and rates.

I would give 6 stars to OddJob Rob if I could. He did excellent work -- replacing and analyzing our wired smoke alarms, while also diagnosing and fixing door knobs -- from antique to modern. Was punctual, efficient and friendly. Multitalented and reasonably priced. Will use again. read more

Rob was recommended to me by my friend and neighbor, and I hired him to build a garden shed made of cedar wood. It was a very complex project, involving lots of pieces and a small space to work in. Rob did an amazing job! The shed looks wonderful, everything fits nicely, and I am super happy :-) I love Rob's attention to detail, his accountably and how easy it is to work with him. It's obvious that he takes great pride in his work. read more

Oddjob Rob has done two different jobs for me over the years (kitchen faucet installation and hanging new curtains for patio doors), and he did great work both times. He called the night before to confirm the appointment, arrived on time, did careful work, and didn't leave a mess. He's also very nice! read more

I hired Oddjob Rob for the first time today and was very impressed with his work. He removed an old medicine cabinet and mirror and modified then hung a new, very heavy medicine cabinet. Everything was done very well and just as it should be. Seems like he can do anything you would want a handy man to do. He was easy to talk to, punctual, and I definitely plan to engage his services again. read more

Contacted Rob on Yelp. He responded in a timely manner. Arranged for install of LED Wall pack light on front of my house. He was exactly on time and did a stellar job of installing the light. There was an issue with fit and I couldn't find the panel for front light...but he did. Took his time and had parts needed to make it fit properly on my house. His price was right too. Thank you Rob. read more

Oddjob Rob - LED Wall pack light installed on front of house - Handyman Near Me

I'm very happy right now. Rob came last week and fixed everything on my list. He did everything from hang pictures to fix faucets to install my icemaker connection to installing lights to installing doorknobs and locks. He's coming to my office next. His attention to detail and ability to do a variety of tasks is what I love about him! read more

We've been using Rob at our house in the Oakland hills for at least 8 years. By the way, yes he has a ladder and a freeway-ready car!! And beyond that, he's a great handyman: reliable, honest, totally competent, reasonably priced, and respectful of your property. I've referred him to friends who are equally pleased. Rob can do anything inside or outside, from minor repairs to light plumbing to assembling our big gas BBQ in the backyard. If it's hard core electrical or plumbing (internal wiring, etc) that he's not equipped for, he'll tell you up front. Finding the right handyman is important, and sometimes annoying, but I don't worry about that anymore. Odd Job is da man! read more

The best handyman experience I have had in 20 years of property ownership. Can't say enough good things about Rob but I'll try: He works fast, efficiently, and is an expert at what he is doing. On this visit, he fixed badly damaged door hinges, track lighting, and door bell. He had all his own tools and parts with him. He's a great communicator and called the night before to confirm our appointment. Definitely a go-to guy. read more

Rob is awesome. I have never seen him without a car full of tools and ladders, ready for any project. He is honest and knows how to do a lot of stuff around the house. He has been doing this forever and is my go-to person for stuff that needs to get done around the house. He has put in lots of doggie doors, mailboxes, plumbing, restrung double-hung windows, replaced doors, door locks, - you name it - he can probably do it. read more

I was very disappointed in Rob Kantor. Most of the tasks I asked him to take on, he said he didn't do, including painting an iron stair railing, caulking a kitchen sink, cutting down the legs of a rustic dining table, etc. The one task he took on, which was that my music didn't consistently play through one of my speakers. It would come in and out. He said he believed he fixed that latter problem by re-stapling the wire in places, but actually what he did not fix the problem. So I paid him $75 (his hourly rate) for one small task of covering up the wiring to my phone system with a small plastic plate. read more

I moved to the Bay Area a few years back and have long needed a handful of jobs done - but didn't really know who up here might be trustworthy or affordable. Finally I had to get the work done - checked Yelp to see who seemed to get good ratings - and chose Rob. And I could not be happier that I did. You never really know if five-star reviews are really reflective of the person or the work - and Rob's are! 100%. First off, he's thoughtful, caring, tries to understand what you want done and how it might best be effected, and utterly responsible. And on top of that his work is great - and as affordable as it is excellent. Not all the work I needed done was easy: a closet bar had had to be rehung in drywall, a lamp fixture had to be hung and wired, a tv had to be fixed to a wall, an unsupported mantle had to fixed above a fireplace, and - most difficult - some immense paintings I have had to be hung very high up (12 - 15 feet) in a difficult-to-hang space that barely accommodated a ladder and which were challenging to say the least. And he not only did it all, but did it great! It ended up being more affordable than I expected and it all looks fabulous. I will not only work with Rob again - he will be the handyman I use for as long as he cares to keep doing this kind of work. Don't hesitate to work with Rob. He's great! read more

Rob called to remind me of our meeting, arrived on time, re-set the hinges on a "fine" piece of furniture (I was worried but he did it PERFECTLY), added handles to a cabinet, and built a solid little railing for the top of my stairs. He came on time, worked fast, knew what he was doing, and suggested unusual and clever solutions. He's a legit, old school handyman-craftsperson and I won't hesitate to call him again. read more

My senior citizen mother who has some mobility limits had a new bed that was too high for her, by about 4-5 inches. It seemed we could cut the legs shorter if we had the know-how and tools. A friend recommended Oddjob Rob. He and I discussed the project by phone and made a plan. He showed up when he said he would and took care of the situation, even though several things were a surprise once he got into the project. (There were metal legs, wooden legs, and a plastic legs, instead of just wooden legs, on this bed.) And his price was very reasonable. My mother is happy with the bed as it is now modified and I am so happy to recommend Oddjob Rob. read more

I am very happy to have found such an excellent handy person as Rob. In moving into a new house I needed to have a jillion things done to get the place ready to move in. Rob recently installed a wood barrier on my back deck to keep my cat from going down to the yard when I do not want him to. He gave me a free estimate, which was great, and also had good suggestions about how to make the barrier. I am very pleased with his work. The barrier blends in very nicely with the rest of the deck and landing. His prices are reasonable and the estimate of cost and time he quoted me was exactly what I ended up paying. I will use him again when I need more work done. read more
