Brandon via Oakland Handyman did a great job on my bathroom and hallway upgrades. He was very considerate and conscientious of my place, and always kept things neat and picked up. The job took longer than we anticipated, and he stayed until it was done, and done right. Brandon made sure everything worked and fit in my small place. There was one missing item (a faucet), and he went to Home Depot to purchase it for me; it looks and works great. So glad to find someone who renews my faith in hiring repair people (I have had some less than satisfying experiences). Levi coordinated to appointment and was always very responsive. read more

Micah did a great job with a challenging drywall fix where our kitchen wall met the ceiling after a plumber needed to access our upstairs bathroom pipes. He was responsive when we first called and courteous and efficient when onsite. When we had selected the wrong color of paint, he made a quick trip to the hardware store for us to pick up a can of the right match and was done in a jiffy. He also fixed a bathroom door latch on the same day when he was doing the painting. I don't have a regular handyman, so started here on Yelp to find someone. When I reached out price was in line with other quotes, and the communication was great. So I booked them for some work. I was pretty clear up front about the services I needed via email, asked for an estimate of how long this might take, and asked if I needed to have anything specific on hand to make things go smoothly. Without writing too long of a review, I don't believe the skills of the handyman matched my ask, and I just wish I knew earlier. He took much longer than estimated, AND that's with me providing multiple basic supplies that I guess I thought a handyman would have and my dad and husband running to the hardware store 3 times while he was working for more things needed. When he finally left my disposal was installed so poorly a part was actually broken, so I needed to buy a new one and install again myself. He also left us with a leak under the sink, that I had to find and fix myself. My dishwasher to this day isn't level (haven't gotten around to fixing this myself yet) and every time I open the door the racks roll right out. All in all I can't recommend, at least for any sort of light plumbing (installing a disposal back where one already existed) or appliance re-install (dishwasher and cooktop, both where all hookups already existed). Maybe better for other services, and the positive is that he was really nice and did show up on time! read more

Micah is fantastic! I've had him out on two separate occasions to take care of things for me. He installed an under counter water filter including drilling through my metal sink. It was cleanly done and effective. He also replaced the mortise style locks on my interior doors after I spent many hours attempting to do this myself to no avail. Very happy with how he completed this finicky job. He's reliable and efficient. The first time I had him out, he took so much less time to finish the jobs than I expected, which was amazing. Make a nice long list before you hire him! Prices are fair and reasonable and Micah is prompt and kind. Highly recommend! read more

Micah is amazing and I cannot recommend Oakland Handyman enough. He installed glass doors in my shower and did everything from selecting really nice but not expensive doors that fit perfectly in the bathroom but also did a difficult install because i have uneven walls. he even came up with an assistant to help (I tried lifting an entire pane of glass myself and failed!) so the job could be done the same day. Finally got some very much needed repairs taken care of. Micah installed new light fixtures in our bathroom and when he removed the old lights, he discovered that the housing box on one was cracked and loose and replaced that, as well. He also replaced some handrail mounting fixtures that were missing for years and put a new faucet on our leaking outdoor water faucet. All of the work was done efficiently and neatly and for a reasonable price. It is so nice to finally have these things taken care of! We'll definitely be calling Micah again. read more

My front door was sticking badly and appeared to be out of alignment. I contacted several handyman services but either go no response or they could not come for weeks. Then I found Micah. He was able to come out in a few days and was able to adjust the door and door frame so the door opened easily. In the process he discovered the lock wasn't working. He went out to find a replacement but it turned out it wouldn't fit in the existing hole and it would require extensive modification of the door to get it to fit. Instead of doing that, he took the time to contact local businesses that might have the right parts. And he contacted a local locksmith to see if someone there could help. The locksmith came out the same day and was able to fix the problem with the door lock. Thank you, Micah, for going the extra mile to get both my door and my door lock fixed. read more

Oakland Handyman is owned by a husband and wife team of Jeremy and Brittany. I hate when you call a small service business and get their voicemail. I almost never leave a voicemail and will likely never call back. Very annoying. With Oakland Handyman, things are different. Brittany answers the phones while Jeremy is out in the field so there is always someone to answer the phone which is a huge plus. Jeremy is very responsive and worked with my tight schedule to get repairs done at my home before it went up for sale. Jeremy is a very nice guy and is very knowledgeable about home repairs. He worked quickly and is very professional. Jeremy and his wife are both ethical business people who stand behind their work and put their client's satisfaction first. Wow, I could not have asked for quicker and better service. In March 2016, I called Ben to have some old vinyl base trim in my bathroom replaced with painted (white) wood baseboard. I outlined in an email a number of tasks I was looking to have handled. I received a quote for each task the morning following my request. The work involved painting of an interior wall, the balcony floor and installing a bamboo privacy screen on the balcony. Levi performed the work. His work was of the highest quality and I am thrilled with the results. It exceeded my expectations. There was a side task that was expected to be an easy fix. It ended up involving a trip to the store to pick up parts. Levi was very gracious in spite of the additional time it took to complete this task. They were great from the start. My husband called on the Monday before Christmas and got a call back the same day. We need them to replace some floorboards at our condo, and after taking a look they quoted two hours from start to finish, and the price was very reasonable. The job turned out to be way more complicated because of the way the floorboards had been installed originally. It ended up taking them a whole day to do it, but in the end they only charged for three hours. I was quoted over the phone and had a top quality handyman to my house the following day (today). He patched a hole in my drywall and fixed a sagging door in an hour and then cleaned up and left. I provided dates far out, 3-4 weeks, for my availability. I probably could have sent more follow up emails, but why should I?
