My first drink from Odd Meter wasn't the best. It could be me, I only drink iced coffee drinks and don't have the most refi. I just stopped by again after receiving an email from Eric ( one of the owners) asking if I would consider trying Odd Meter again. I am very happy I visited Odd Meter a second time, I tried their iced maple oat latte, it was outstanding. Their cups can be recycled and they don't use plastic lids or straws ! Absolutely incredible coffee shop. I don't even like coffee but I loved the vibes in here. It was so inclusive and the staff were incredibly kind and friendly. The menu was so cute. They were busy and you can tell why. Even with how busy they were staff took time to talk with us and were never overwhelmed. Got all our orders right. Looking to stop in for a good espresso drink, you need not look further. Everything appears to be sourced relatively local, farm fresh milk, George Howell beans (roasted in Boston), pastries from A & J King. I opted for a couple specialty lattes, ginger-spiced "hangover latte" and a cardamom spiced variation. Both were subtle and well-done! The service is friendly as can be. No attitude and very helpful. New favorite coffee place! I came during a non-busy time, but promptly received my iced latte. Everyone was very friendly, all appropriately wearing masks. The iced coffee came in a paper cup which makes me happy. Paper straws I am always weary of, but it held up better than any other paper straw I have used (is that a weird positive comment? Probably, but it was noticeable to me.) Most importantly, my latte was delicious. Will definitely be returning. read more

The place is small with no seating, but you're not there for the location you're there for the delicious lattes! We went here first on our trip into Salem and when we ordered mixed lattes (a blueberry, a pumpkin spice, and a pistachio) they were super accommodating and attentive to cleaning steam wands and being mindful about my husband's nut allergy. The pistachio latte was sooo good the espresso was good, the pistachio syrup tasted like pistachio ice cream, balanced with steamed milk so it was a delicious caffeinated pick me up. I'm not big on blueberry flavor but their boo-berry latte was also delicately sweet. I love places that can balance their espresso drinks, not too cloying, not too milky, espresso actually able to be tasted. Thank you to the lovely baristas for being so patient and helpful to us every time we went (even during crazy October rush) -- you guys are so so so appreciated and are some crazy hard workers. read more

Good coffee, friendly staff and an excellent location. Not much more you can ask for! Odd Meter is probably my favorite coffee shop in MA. They have seasonal drinks to keep it interesting and they offer lavender as a staple flavor. I'm sold! The staff could not be friendlier and make it such a joy to visit the shop. Rather than being a pit stop in my day, it is often my reason for an outing. My *only* complaint is that I wish they offered larger sizes for their iced coffees! I only had to come here once to know it's special! It was along the way from the station into the town and had a long line. A very spacious interior and super cute and unique graphics. The staff admitted to being stressed with all of the orders, but they did so with a smile on their face. I ordered the seasonal drink, the Oh My Gourd (love the name). It was a pumpkin caramel latte shaken over ice. I quickly downed it because I really enjoyed it! Perfect balance between syrup and espresso, and it wasn't even watered down from the shaking. Not many places master the perfect shaken latte, but this place has it down. I also love how they are open about their values and their commitment to them. While visiting Salem, we needed a quick pick me up and found this little coffee shop. The staff were super friendly and very knowledgeable. I ordered the the Iced Canadian drink. Now, I'm not sure what the actual name was called, but it was an iced drink that had espresso, maple syrup, and half-and-half. They shake the whole drink in a shaker with ice and pour over ice. It was amazing! I did get an extra shot of espresso, increasing my large to a four shot drink. This drink is not on the menu, but you can ask for it. It kept me going for most of the day. The cup was served in was a recyclable and beautifully designed paper cup. I almost felt bad throwing my cup out! I also purchased a sticky bun which was very tasty, soft and nice and chewy on the outside. My only recommendation would be to have been offered to have it warmed up. The space inside offers about three tables to sit. Unfortunately, they do not have a bathroom, but there are some across the street near the visitor center. If I lived closer, I would frequently get coffee and treats here! Love the coffee here! read more

Visited on opening day and was excited about it. It was a rough start, ordering sizes were confusing and we calculated after we left that we were overcharged by about four bucks. Drinks were decent, but no wow factor especially with the numerous other shops in the area. Gave them the benefit of the doubt and visited again this past weekend. Apparently there is only one size now? Got an iced mocha and a cold brew w/ splash of oat milk and vanilla syrup which came to $15. Each flavor shot is $1 charge which is pretty steep and I don't think you should charge an extra $1 for oat milk if it's just to top off a coffee. Overall there are better coffee shops in Salem for less money, I am not sure how they will survive. Pastries and stuff are AJ King, I would rather walk down the street there and get coffee from them. read more

The coffee is great and a great variety of A&J King pastries but I paid $25 for two coffees and 2 pastries. The coffees are really small and each add-on is $1... I paid $7 for a small coffee with milk and caramel. I love down the street and would come here every morning but the prices were absolutely outrageous. Save your money and go to A&J King... same great coffee and pastries, just significantly cheaper. read more

I was pretty excited when I saw some news about a new espresso shop opening up, but sadly my experience was kind of disappointing. Maybe it was because it was only day 2 but the execution just wasn't there. I ordered two small lattes and the espresso tasted super weak like it couldn't stand up to the milk and had tons of foam like I'd ordered a cappuccino. At first I was hesitant because I never been, and I was going there for my very first date but the minute I walked into those doors it felt like such a safe place to be myself!! The employees were so nice and sweet!! I never really drank coffee so when I asked if they had any recommendations they were kind enough to help me figure out what to order!! I love this place! Super duper friendly owners and staff. I am a not-so-secret espresso snob (with a constant search for the best cortado on the north shore) and they are my current favorite, tied for first place with Tartine. Very smooth, mellow, drinkable espresso, which is a delight the whole way through. Their cardamom latte was delicious, but a bit sweet for my taste. We asked for a half mocha and vanilla this morning and they obliged.... and now that may be the only thing I order. I love that they source local tea (Mem) and pastries. What a cool coffee shop with really unique flavors. I so wish I was a cranberry person because their harvest latte sounded really interesting - when do you ever see cranberry coffee? Alas, I have never really liked cranberry so didn't want to risk it but you should totally stop in and try it if you like cranberry. Odd Meter is a fun, colorful, and inviting little spot that is fairly close to all the great shoppes and historic sights of Salem. It was such a change of sight from black & white, and then entering Odd Meter, seeing color.
