Visited this cute coffee shop when I was in Salem a week ago. I was out for my morning run, and made a stop here when I was getting hungry and ready for my morning beverage. It was super easy to order, and I was intrigued by the build-your-own breakfast sandwich. I got a sweetened matcha (hot) paired with a sandwich made with pita bread, scrambled eggs, pepper jelly, and Boursin cheese (a unique option which I thought would add some interesting flavors). The entire meal of food + drink was perfectly filling post-run. Seating isn't ample, but there are options---countertop at the window for people-watching, or cozier seating by the back wall. It's definitely in a central location of Salem and I can see this place being a local favorite! read more

My friends and I came to this cutesy small shop to grab coffee/brekky prior to our day in Salem. Looks like they have 2 locations. One in Salem MA and one in Beverly MA. Parking- didn't see a dedicated lot, looks like street parking only. We found a spot down the street, walkable distance. Looks like we made the right choice, because the place was poppin. Lots of folks coming in & out. We were lucky enough to snag a table for the group while some of the group stayed in line. I noted several groups of ladies with cute witchy style outfits very fitting for Salem, that could def be OOTD worthy on IG. Service- seemed fine. My friends ordered for me at the counter while I held down our table, so I can't speak to the ordering interaction. They were speaking names out very low for pick up at the counter, I remember that. Food- I got the North Shore sammy - which comes with maple bacon, over medium egg, chedder cheese, maple aoili on a croissant. The egg was runny just what I like, and it was yummy and bigger than I imagined. Very filling. I could have just split one with my friends, but everyone got there own. So I left more full than I wanted, because I didn't want to take away. Drink- I got a latte, that was fine, nothing to write home about. If visiting this charming town try it out. I saw mostly tourist, so don't think it's a locals hang out. But it's not a trap luckily, lol. read more

When I say the wait to get into Crave is worth every minute of standing in line, I mean it! We stood in this line 2 days in a row that's how delicious their breakfast sandwiches are. The line moves fairly quickly. It's about a 10-20 minute wait. I ordered a "Fluffy Ghost Matcha" and one of their signature sandwiches "Northshore". It has maple bacon, eggs, cheddar cheese & maple aioli, served on a toasted butter croissant. This sandwich is so mouth-wateringly delicious. Hands down the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. Found this little gem on TikTok and I am so glad that we came! All of us couldn't decide what we wanted, so we tried a couple of different options. We tried the North Shore, Whole Hog (on a bed of tots), and the bacon egg and cheese! We also got 2 side orders of tots. I loved all the food, every bite I took was delish! There tots were hot and crispy and well seasoned also. For the coffee I went with the signature "The Crave", which was so delightful. I got it with oat milk and it was smooth and delish as well! The inside of the place is just a cute hip vibe. It's a smaller cafe with some seating along one of the wall of window, and then they have some tables. Right when we arrived, every table was packed, but by the time our food arrived, tables opened up, which was nice. Wow! Just a short walk from all of the main attractions in downtown Salem, this place is highly recommended for breakfast sandwiches and all desserts. All five of the desserts we got were delicious! I forget the name but I got the one with maple bacon and the maple aioli and it was probably the best thing I've had in awhile. I'm not big on eggs but they cooked them perfectly. Everything is great - except the prices ! But honestly comparable to boston or anywhere else with a quality roasted bean . I enjoy the Vietnamese cold brew (added sweetened condensed milk) and the caramel latte. The baked goods are just as delicious as they are beautiful and elegantly simple. The limited menu actually makes me feel less anxious lol yeah but it's a good quick break sandwich place that blows dunks out of the water any day! Very friendly and quick service makes it that much better. They do their best to pack in as many seats are they can to accommodate the busy crowds of tourists and pedestrians during peak hours so there can be some great people watching here by the windows. On our four day trip to Salem we came here 2 of our 3 mornings in the town. It's SO. GOOD. Croissants looked good but had a disappointingly small amount of filling. I've been on the hunt for good croissants and decided to try the almond and churro croissants today. While both looked good, each only had a small amount of filling inside. The vast majority of each croissant was unfilled. The churro croissant's filling tasted like whipped chocolate and was very light and tasty, but there was only about two bitefuls inside. The almond croissant was very flaky, but had even less filling. For the cost of each croissant, there should have been significantly more filling. This review comes from a family of 4. We had 2 build your own breakfast sandwiches. The bread was fresh and both were made to order. The brioche bun was an exercise option. The caramel latte was perfect. Maple bacon was excellent. The fruity pebble bar was too hard. The tater tot bowl was good and sauce was excellent. I'm kind of confused by the high rating! I will start by saying the coffee was very good, so they do have that going on. But, we ordered a couple different breakfast sandwiches that people recommended, and they were so bad that we threw them away after a few bites. Maybe an off day, but I ordered the Crave sandwich, and the egg whites were so slimy and undercooked. The bread was like nothing I'd ever had before, dry and almost "chip like" in the words of my daughter. My husband got the Bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and the bacon was so soft and undercooked, not crispy at all. Just so .... not good. I always get very happy and excited when seeing tater tots on the menu and I'm even more happy to see new and interesting twists on candied bacon. I completely fell in love with the low key atmosphere of Crave and the locals were all lovely people. On a recent visit to Salem, MA to see the beautiful murals, we came across this restaurant. We wanted a quick bite as it was October, and parking in Salem during this month is at a premium. We managed to find a metered spot for two hours, and we were concerned that we would be stuck eating fast food. We were delighted to find this small restaurant a block off the main street. We realized that this is a cash at the counter and wait for your order type of place. We managed to secure two seats and ordered two pesto BLTs. As an experienced cook, I do not impress easily. You would think a BLT couldn't surprise you anymore... but I was wrong. This BLT was made with arugula, bacon, sun-dried tomatoes pesto, and aïoli on a substantial ciabatta roll. I don't know that I'll ever eat a traditional BLT ever again. The pesto and sun-dried tomatoes were such a good surprise... absolutely delicious together. The arugula added a much needed bite, another layer of flavor, and reminded me of all the arugula I used to grow in my garden. Bacon is bacon...always yummy! The ciabatta roll was the perfect vessel to hold up to all of the delicious pesto and aïoli. It makes so much sense to use a ciabatta roll instead of regular bread with a BLT. How often does the bread break as you're trying to bite into it? Genius. The service at Crave was very efficient. It was very crowded when we walked in, and we almost walked out, thinking it would take too long. However, we were served expeditiously. The menu had so many breakfast and brunch options that it was hard to choose. The restaurant is open daily from 8 am until 2 PM. We got in just under the wire, and we're so glad we did. if you're a foodie who is interested in fresh, delicious and creative menu items, be sure to visit Crave in Salem...
