I've been to Coffee Time a number of times as I love the Scones. I decided this time to get a breakfast sandwich and a medium ice coffee. I was taken back at the price of the 2 items. We stop by for pastries whenever we're in town. Love that they have both full sized and mini bismarks. Our favorite is the raspberry kind. The frosted shortbread cookie was also surprisingly good- nice shortbread base and buttercream on top. Tasted very rich in the best way possible. Coffee Time Bake Shop is dangerously delicious. from the moment you walk in, you are greeted by a case stacked full of (nearly) every possible pastry imaginable. i've heard their lunchtime pizza is pretty popular. I have been loving their banana foster coffee which is the flavor of the week, but they don't have flavored cream options. I went home to add french vanilla almond creamer, and I recommend bringing your own if you're on the go. i also loved their iced vietnamese coffee. is it the best coffee ever? no but definitely better than DD. i've tried their peanut butter & fluff donut, it was so ridiculously good and nostalgic; i tried their bagels which are big, fluffy and fresh, and their blueberry crumble donut which i liked but it was blueberry jam inside, not exactly what i expected. they have breakfast sandwich options as well, but they are $9 with egg, cheese and meat. even if you just get egg & cheese, it's $9. it should be a little less if you're not getting meat, although it is on a huge croissant (if that's your choice of bread), with 2 eggs. it's very old school interior, it's more of a takeout place although there are tables inside. the line can get crowded and the staff are all great, patient and helpful. they're open pretty late too. read more

Heard good things about this place and decided to give 'em a visit. It was a brisk 10-minute walk from Salem Common, which was pleasant. I was a little taken aback at just how busy the place was, even at 6 pm. A constant stream of people parking or trotting in from down the street to be greeted by the incredibly efficient team, swiftly taking orders for coffee, donuts, bismarcks, etc. It's a bit cramped and overwhelming when it's busy, especially if you've never been there before and want to look at the huge array of options. However, the staff are so helpful and efficient! Decided upon a bismarck, which was absolutely delicious, fresh, and the star of the show, along with an apple cinnamon muffin, a pineapple coconut orange muffin, and a peanut butter jelly donut. Everything was extremely delicious, all you'd hope for and more from bakery goodies- flawless *Chef's kiss* This place is AMAZING. Super cute shop with a few seats inside, but it's perfect for a quick meal on the go. Their employees will get you out the door in a heartbeat. Home of breakfast sandwiches that will hold you over well past lunch, fresh bagels, and pastries that I wish I could have mailed to my house five states away. And homemade dog cookies. I absolutely love this spot. Am currently disgruntled by their choice to drop their delicious peach iced tea, which was my absolute favorite, and the corn muffins that I dream of. Ok, any time we pass this awesome bakery we have to talk ourselves out of going in. Yup, it's that good. First off the parking lot is small but there is some on street and side street parking. I've gotten gas across the street and just parked there for a few minutes as well. Their goods are excellent. Donuts go fast each morning. Lots of options for breakfast sandwiches and nice selection of muffins, bagels, coffee cakes , cookies, cupcakes, cakes of all sizes and flavors, pies whole and slices eclairs, scones, Danishes, cheesecake sheet slices of pizza starting at 11 AM or can get yesterdays reheated in foil prior and lots of items you won't find anywhere else. Lots of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, seasonal cold drinks like lime Ricky's ect. The owner is on site in the kitchen and there are some small 2 top tables with street views through large glass windows. Have some staff that have been there for years and lots of teens in the summer. We got our wedding sheet cake there years ago and was excellent. Wide variety of choices of cookies, dog treats, pasteries (tiramisu, esclairs, and so much more!) the coffee was deliscious and so was the peppermint hot chocolate. My fiancée and I recently visited Salem for four days, and breakfasted at Coffee Time since it was very near our Airbnb. The shop is friendly, and the food is amazing! My fiancée loved the bismarks, and I thought highly of their breakfast sandwiches on an everything bagel, as well as their coffee rings (cinnamon rolls to us from Denver) and muffins. Incredible! Loved all of the beautiful, homemade, and fresh pastries. Our coffee drinks were also perfect and made with care. The staff is kind and, as far as how busy this place is, they get you in and out (or you can dine in), quickly in a totally mellow way. They have inside and outside tables, it's clean, and is exactly what a "donut" shop should be. I have to say that no "donut" shop on the West coast can top this "donut" shop on the East coast. Most importantly, for me, is the employees and visitors are honest. I accidentally left my purse in their bathroom and didn't realize it until about 2 hours after leaving Coffee Time. I had driven all the way into Maine by the time I realized how absent-minded I had been and, when I phoned, Rob was top notch and advised me that someone had turned my bag/purse into his staff after he asked me to identify the bag. I am forever grateful for all involved's acts of kindness. I had everything in that bag and they kept me whole during a week that was already filled with one too many heartbreaks. I highly recommend this small, local, and very yummy breakfast, lunch, coffee, and dessert establishment to anyone looking for an excellent experience. read more

I am so sad I don't live closer to this place, because they have the best peanut butter and jelly donut! I'm not a big donut person, but this donut is the best one I've had. I was in Salem and saw the bakery with lots of cars in the lot in the early afternoon. I thought this place must be great since they are crowded at a time when a bakery shouldn't be too busy. Nope. The reason the lot was so full was the counter service was awful. The staff looked like they had been fired from the post office for moving too slow before being hired at Coffee Time. As the line inched along the staff would disappear for minutes at a time and at some points there was no one waiting the counter in spite of 6 or so folks waiting for service. Yet other employees walked right past the line without helping anyone. When one customer was checking out the counter person almost dropped their order off the counter then seconds later managed to drop the order off the counter onto the floor upside down. FOCUS people! The chocolate eclair was better than average though pricey. I doubt I'll go back due to the long wait. read more

So good that after we scarfed down bizmarks on our first visit, we returned two days later because we just couldn't control ourselves. However on visit #2 we tried a donut, a cupcake and a piece of pie and all three were also delicious. With a friendly staff to top it all off, this places is an A+. read more

I'm glad I don't live closer to Coffee Time. It's dangerous there! For Chanukah they are the only place that sells real sufganiyot. These like jelly donuts and they take orders ahead of time. You know it's a great place because Atomic Cafe which is tasty and reasonably priced, gets all their muffins and scones there. They sell a ton of them, too. Food from Coffee Time ends up everywhere! I always get my mom a large real cream Bismarck which she adores. I don't care for whipped cream but there are plenty of other things to get. Napoleons, eclairs, fancy and traditional cookies are all very popular. Although I only go a few times a year, the line is always out the door and they have 3-5 people working behind the counter. This isn't the fancy perfect French pastry shop. This is the very reasonably priced, popular, reliable, top ingredients kind of a place. Service was amazing! Even during this crazy October "Witchcraft" time of year the staff has their process down and communicates it their patrons! It is a well oiled machine! There is a diverse menu from fresh donuts, bagels, sandwiches, and pizza to hot and cold drinks! The team members help each other and customers get out the door quickly! There is some parking onsite! In addition, there are a few tables and benches to eat onsite however I would not count on the benches being available. I came because I saw reviews on their Bismarks, so when a change of plans had us staying a night in a hotel down the street, I had to go. I know I've read Google reviews about rude staff and bad coffee, but the staff was friendly and the coffee was good. The Bismark were not overly sweet, all of them had a fruit filling ( I saw strawberry, raspberry, lemon and blueberry) and a fresh whipped cream. We ordered strawberry Bismark, a raspberry scone and a berries and cream cake slice. The scone was crunchy on the outside and moist inside, very good. The berries and cream cake slice was delicious and fresh. Nothing was overly sweet, if you're worried about that. I'd definitely come back if I find myself in the area. read more
