When in Salem,MA this bakery is a visit. They have a little of everything. Soups. Sandwiches, coffee, bakery items! Bagels! It can get so busy but service was great and the 2 ladies were very good! They do have gluten free items . While they do say there can be cross contamination I wish they would separate the GF goodies from the regular goodies and wouldn't place them right next to each other on the shelf/ window. It is a nice cafe/ bakery with tables to enjoy your bite!

Tried the fruit tart, lemon meringue tart, and key lime tart with a lavender vanilla latte. I'd skip the fruit tart, the crust was weirdly stiff and had a strange flavor - like shortening that was a bit off. The other citrus tarts were solid and the crust had the crumbly buttery graham texture I expected. The latte was lovely - herbal and not too sweet. Space is open and airy with great light and had a small showcase for some local art. Service was fast and attentive. Nice place to grab a treat and catch up with a friend.

I was really looking forward to this almond croissant. I purposely asked if there was almond paste in the middle, I was told yes. There was a few slivers of almonds but no paste !! I would have ordered something else had I not been lied to. And went back for more . The croissant it self was good , had good texture, but if I'm going to eat something so fattening , I want something that I can thoroughly enjoy . It looks like a nice clean quaint place, but after being lied to will not go back .

I really enjoyed this sandwich, the service, and this was the best coffee I believe I have ever had. I wish I would have gotten something sweet for after my meal, but this was absolutely quick and delightful. I would recommend it but there is not a lot of interior seating.

Was hoping to try their Italian but they packed me a tomato and cheese sandwich :( and then told me it was my uber driver who I than blamed but he only picked up one order, and my receipt is on the bag :(

Our custom two-tiered heart-shaped wedding cake!

We absolutely loved our experience with Lulu's Bakery & Pantry! They happily accepted our request to make our wedding cake, which meant so much to us. As fellow West Virginians, seeing the West Virginia University flag proudly flying in their window instantly made us feel at home and confident in choosing them. The cake itself was delicious and absolutely gorgeous, exactly what we envisioned from our Pinterest inspiration photos. Every detail was spot on, and our guests couldn't stop talking about how good it was. We couldn't have asked for a yummier or more beautiful wedding cake!

    Iced ginger cookie with tea

My best friend and I wanted to have a cute date on an early and cold Sunday morning. She had already been here before and was excited to show me this cute place. After difficult debate, I decided on their iced gingerbread cookie and a hot earl grey tea which was a must for the weather. My friend ordered their bacon and cheese scone in which the staff member heated but ended up with a cheese and spinach croissant instead, presumably by accident. But we had no problem with it because it turned out to be delicious with little bites of mushroom in the flaky crust. The cookie was also yummy with a solid structure but still slightly chewy center. Overall, we had a very pleasant and peaceful experience. The music was muted, bathrooms clean, and food was satisfying. I would definitely come again and recommend others to check them out!

I got a small latte with a shot of caramel, it was almost $7 and although it was good, for a small it seemed very expensive, also it was basically just milk with a splash of coffee which was a little disappointing for the price. The store itself is decorated very beautifully which was nice. Lastly, the person taking my order was very nice and considerate so that was good but overall I'd say it's quite overpriced and just be warned if your getting a latte your basically paying for a coffee flavored milk.

Small local coffee shop, the way it should be. While they did not have vegan options, I got chamomile tea, good stuff.

Mass produced, highly processed, hugely overpriced. Five dollar cupcakes that look like you could buy them at Market Basket for much less.

Got a cupcake here while visiting, 1 bite and straight in the trash. Beyond dry and inedible. I was shocked they sell this.

Restaurant Week, as per the Salem Chamber of Commerce's website, is summed up as: "Participating restaurants offered special two- and three-course prix-fixe menus, giving locals and visitors alike a chance to explore, support, and celebrate Salem's vibrant dining scene." For $45 I got cheddar jalapeño fritters, a poutine burger (hamburger with fries cheese and gravy on top, kale Caesar salad with freshly grated cheese, and fresh, piping hot apple cider donuts. The burger was hearty, the fritters popped, and the donuts hit the spot but by far the standout was the kale caesar salad with the creamy dressing over crispy and crunchy kale topped with the tangy grated cheese. A Downeast cider washed it all down and was refreshing. I went on a weekday so there were a few people sitting at the bar with me but overall the place wasn't packed. What I really appreciated was the general manager came to talk to me specifically about their Restaurant Week food selection and to get my feedback. She was super friendly and I told her about the kale caesar salad. Parking is on the street and can be hit or miss because The Babe is right on Washington Street where it starts to curve around the corner. It's worth it to keep circling though. The Babe has different events each night of the week, including Jazz Tuesdays and karaoke Fridays. I had a great time at The Babe and I appreciate how much they support the local Salem community. I am looking forward to going back!

(They clearly saw me there; we made eye contact and the one guy wasn't even doing anything.) After about 10 to 15 minutes of waiting with no service, we were about to leave when a server finally came to our table. Since they were obviously busy and weren't keeping up with the crowd that night, we tried to order two drinks each so they could save a little of their time and we could relax without worrying about if a server was going to take our order again before the end of the week. The server very sharply said that he was NOT going to give us two drinks at a time, CERTAINLY not with drinks of this high alcohol content. We ordered one drink each, cashed out and bounced. The cocktail I got was fine; I could make a slightly worse version at home at a fraction of the price (or even two at once!). We we were told later by a friendlier Salemite at a bar with a better vibe that there is a Massachusetts state law that prohibits having two drinks at once at a bar. Fair enough. Had our server told us that, unfortunately, he wasn't allowed to give us two drinks at once -- instead of making us feel like idiots/degenerates for daring to ask -- we probably would have dropped a lot of vacation money there that night. Oh well; we had a great time at the other places we went.
