wow ... i think this is one of the best restaurants i've ever been to. everything about odd duck is what you expect to see out of a farm to table restaurant -- kind service, home-y ambiance, and incredible food. every dish i got was fire, but my favorites were the cornbread and thai apple salad. i also loved the steak dish, but i will say that some parts of the steak was very very chewy and hard to get through. nonetheless, i had an incredible experience and will come back the next time i'm in austin! read more

I've only visited Austin twice but Odd Duck so far is one of my favorite restaurants. Even on the weekdays, it is still hard to get a dinner reservation but fortunately we were make reservation at 8 PM reservation for a party of 4. They had cute decorations right when you entered the restaurant with their own cook book/comic book. They had indoor, outdoor and bar seatings. Food are small bite sizes and most dishes were shareable. The menu changes based on the season. Cocktails were good, and they had a decent wine list which was reasonable. My favorite dishes was the blackened redfish, chicken heart and stuffed quail. Overall, all the workers are very friendly and outgoing. We had another good experience and our server, Robert, was amazing. He was attentive, friendly, outgoing, and gave us good recommendations. Prices are on the higher end but it was worth it. read more

Service was good. The food was underwhelming and overpriced for what it is. There must be better choices nearby.

This duck is not like the others. What a magical experience here at Odd Duck, from the service to the food it was all amazing. The wait staff was all extremely friendly, and each dish that came out was explained/presented to you in detail. We were one of the last seating groups and to be honest the restaurant was quieter, and more calm compared to peak dinner time so that was really nice! We ordered all of the current appetizers (chicken giblets, ceviche, corn bread, pickles), and they were all divine. I am not a usual connoisseur of corn bread, but DAMN! You have to do yourself a favor and give it a go - it was moist, crispy, a little savory, and a little sweet all at the same time. I know... how is that even possible. We tried a few of the entrees (shrimp, and pasta) just perfectly cooked, and seasoned! Ugh, no way I could pick my favorite. This was probably top 5 dinning experiences in Austin! I will definitely be back and may have to just order the menu... maybe being an Odd Duck isn't such a bad thing after all. read more

My boyfriend and I LOVED this place when we were in Austin in the fall. It might have been our favorite meal during our week-long trip. Here's what we got: - tomato salad w field pea hummus - cheddar cornbread w sage butter - beer battered squash (grown in the head chef's own garden!) - wagyu strip Everything was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and not too decadent or overpowering. Our server was also super friendly, kind, attentive, and gave great recommendations and made awesome conversation. It felt like we were at a friend's place. We have not stopped talking about this place since we've been back from our trip and know that we want to return here whenever we're back in Austin again. If you're thinking about going here, definitely do it!!! read more

It's not a stretch to say this is my favorite restaurant in America. I was visiting Austin from Chicago and found this through google search at 4 pm. Was able to snag a 9 pm bar seat with my buddy. Bartender with hat and long hair was awesome, super cool guy that chatted with us about Austin staples the whole time. Pickles came out first. They were fine, but nothing too special. The cornbread was next. Wow. Best I've ever had. A must get. We split a burger and the pizza. The pizza was fantastic a great touch. But the Burger. Oh my lord. Best I've ever had in my life. Truly. Great experience. Note: The burger is one of the more expensive burgers you'll ever have in your life, but treat yourself if wallet allows. It's so good. read more

I really enjoyed my dining experience at Odd Duck a few weekends ago! Their farm to table concept, although not the first, is one of the more creative yet comforting ways of approaching it. I had the Kimchi Shrimp Pasta which tasted fresh, light, and flavorful! But the star of the show was the skillet cornbread- my god was that sensational! One of the best cornbreads in town! And their frozen marg was delicious! Service was wonderful, albeit slightly slow at times. But it was a wonderful evening and would enjoy returning here for a special occasion. read more

Around 15min wait for walk in around 7pm on a weekend. Wagyu burger was very filling but it didn't really feel different from a regular burger. The beer cheese in it tastes exactly like the name suggests. For dessert, the celery sorbet is pretty much a celery smoothie in horchata. The coconut golden milk ice cream has sweet potato cake below it which makes the whole dish taste like a pumpkin pie. Lastly, the oatmeal icebox cake tastes like a granola bar with some jam on the side. Overall an adventurous meal but like the name it's a little odd. read more

The place has really great foods, but tables really small when sitting in the bar. The wait staff was not consistency on service. The flows were a bit off but the foods are great. The temperature in the room also dropped very cold in a sudden. And the dessert is way too sweet. read more

This was a stellar experience from start to finish. Having a complimentary valet out front is super helpful and the restaurant is beautiful. Our server Jeff was awesome - kind, helpful and attentive! Jeff advised us that folks generally order 2 things per person and share, so we did just that. I had notated on the reservation a dairy allergy and they had a separate dairy free menu just for me! The food was absolutely delightful and so were the cocktails. It's hard to pick a favorite because they were all so good - ceviche, summer squash salad, pork belly, quail, pasta and apple crisp. We were quite full at the end of our small plates tasting and only spent $85/pp with 6 plates and two drinks each. I honestly feel like that's a great price considering the quality, taste and overall experience. We can't wait to return! read more

Had another good dining experience at Odd Duck last weekend. The components of the ceviche made for a bite of perfection. The jerk shrimp was impeccably seasoned and grilled. I could have bathed in that banana pepper butter. It was to die for. There was a 40 minute lapse in between the shrimp and the redfish which was a total miss and took away from our meal. It was worth the wait though based in the dish execution even though it was room temperature when it got to the table. We also had to ask for one of our drinks twice after waiting over 10 minutes for it. Maybe not the best place to visit on a busy Friday night, but the food will make it worth your while. read more

My partner and I went to Odd Duck for a date night. We were immediately greeted and had our drink orders taken. I had the six beet from the edge cocktail. It was very colorful and refreshing. We had the snapper crudo to start. It was well balanced with acidity and sweetness. I enjoyed the strawberries in the dish. Next, we had the spicy redfish chalupa. I wish there was more because it was so tasty! It had the right amount of kick to it. We also tried the cast iron corn bread. We put our order in and it came out almost two minutes later. It was fresh and the green onion butter complimented it well. I had the stuffed quail and it was delicious. The portion was just enough for two people to share. My partner had the blackened redfish, which was cooked perfectly. It was savory and paired well with the creamed sweet potato. For dessert we had the coconut golden milk ice cream and sweet potato cake. I loved the textures, it had ginger crisps for a crunchy element and the sweet potato cake was soft and moist. I would definitely return to Odd Duck for dinner. read more

What's not to love about Odd Duck.... I go quarterly at this point because I have FOMO on their updated menu items (they have rotating menu). You MUST get the cornbread and ceviche if on the menu. I've also have had pasta dishes, Wagyu burgers, Jamaican shrimp and the quail. Pro tip: Sit at the "kitchen bar" so you get a front row seat into seeing the chefs prepare your meal. You can also "give the kitchen a beer" for $1 extra on your tab. One time, we bought a round for the kitchen for $7. Pretty neat gesture! read more

Odd Duck is one of our favorite restaurants in Austin. We bring our friends/family here whenever they are visiting. We love that the menu changes every season so you can experience a new culinary treat each time you go. Everything is locally sourced, so you are tasting ingredients at their peak freshness from farm to table. You really can't go wrong with anything you order; the variations of ceviche and cast iron cornbread are a must! The service is superb. The servers are continuously checking to make sure that you are enjoying the food and that your water is filled. They explain all the components of the dish in detail when bringing them to the table. Make sure to get an online reservation way ahead because they will get busy during popular dining hours. Valet parking is complimentary; you can leave a tip for the drivers upon leaving. read more

With this being my first trip to Austin, we asked multiple people where to go and so many locals said Odd Duck was the best of the best- we were not disappointed! We made reservations to sit at the bar (highly recommended) and everything was top notch! Our bar tender Willem was so helpful in sharing great local spots to enjoy as well as offering suggestions to their well-rounded menu! Willem was so friendly and helpful and we listened to all of his recommendations. Our meal was one of the highlights of our trip and I will never forget the great service we received! Odd Duck - Tagliatelli, shrimp, corn alfredo, roasted peppers - American Near Me - Austin, Texas

Excellent food. Watermelon chalupa, quail, pizza, fried chicken giblets, corn bread sooooooooo good. SERVICE. Tianna! What an amazing rock starlet of a server. My word! My wife is beyond high maintenance, gluten free, dairy free, fun free, all of it, she can't have none of that! Tianna was so patient and caring and brought my wife a unique menu for neurotic people and carefully and caringly went through each item with my wife explaining the good and the parts to watch out for and was just a doll with my wife. WOW. TIANNA! TIANNA! GO TIANNA, IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY. I hope your boss sees this and really recognizes you for it. You were top notch, best server we've ever had and we're getting up their in years. CHEERS!!! One of the best restaurants I've been in a long time and it's NOT local to me. In Austin for ACL, I don't remember how I heard of Odd Duck but I don't even care, I'm Just SO glad! I don't know where to start. From the first drink to the last bite, we enjoyed everything. The Pickle Martini was very unique and spirit forward. The Chicken Hearts were amazing, probably the best I've ever tried. The Stuffed Quail has to be my favorite out of the bunch, it's honestly hard to say. There's valet and street parking. If you don't have a reservation make show you show up early to wait. There's sitting outside the front door and the ambience is very funky and relaxed, very Austin. From its rustic wood atmosphere and open kitchen to its well thought out farm to table menu, it's easy to see why Odd Duck comes so highly revered. I've been back a handful of times now and the food never disappoints. The ceviche is a must! The citrus mixed with the saltiness of the chip creates harmony in a bite. The stuffed quail may seem small, but it's mighty as it's stuffed with a flavorful dirty rice and surrounded by a sauce that gives it a well rounded flavor. The pork loin was cooked perfectly and paired so well with the earthiness of the oyster mushrooms. While the wagyu burger is something to try, it didn't stand out. Overall, I'm always left feeling full and satisfied. The service is excellent. There is complimentary valet. The food quality is consistent. Not to mention, all the different ducks lined up across the countertop was a nice touch! read more

This was a really enjoyable date spot on a Friday evening. We got counter seating and was able to see the kitchen staff work in what seemed like near perfect harmony. If you enjoy the open kitchen concept, then go for the kitchen counter seating. The Thai Melon Salad was recommended by server. It has a unique citrus flavor profile and a kick of spice to go with melons and pork belly. I found this dish very refreshing and a good complement to a hot day. Chicken Hearts. I'm a big fan. The texture was done really well and had a nice bite without being too chewy. If you enjoy different textures in your foods, I'd recommend this dish. The Stuffed Quail was stuffed with fried rice. The quail was near perfectly cooked over a wood fire. The fried rice which was stuffed into the quail absorbed all the fats which gave it a nice flavor. The chef attending the fire and cooking the quail, did a fantastic job. It was really interesting to be able to watch him tend the grill. Corn bread. We were really glad we ordered this. The dish had a nice crispy crust but was still very moist on the inside. My date and I were full but decided to order the Sourdough Ice Cream for dessert. it was our first time trying sourdough ice cream and we were glad to. I think they soak the old sourdough bread in milk overnight to use for the ice cream. Very strong bread flavor. Nice balance of fats, salts, umami. I would definitely order this again. read more

It's difficult to have a list of Austin restaurants without including Odd Duck, and after a decade of living in Austin, we finally made the trip to see what the fuss was about. In terms of parking, their parking lot appeared to be entirely used for valet, but we managed to easily find street parking on W Gibson Street. It's a bit of a sloped hill, so keep note if you're sporting high heels. This place has a rotating menu that changes every season, so what we ate will mostly be a thing of the past. Adding to my poor memory, I'll try my best to remember exactly what went into my mouth that night. The highs was the cornbread, pizookie-like dessert, and the stuffed quail, in that order. The cornbread was nice and hot, and with the butter, it was very addicting. The dessert was a perfect way to end the night, and who can say no to cookie cake with a scoop of ice cream? The quail was nicely cooked and the fried rice inside had a nice flavor. The lows for me was the burger. This burger is supposed to be famously delicious, but it was difficult to eat due to its size, the patty was a bit pedestrian, and overall a bit too salty for my taste. In general, a number of the dishes, including the burger and the pasta, was, while flavorful, very salty and even eating the half portion that was shared between the two of us became overwhelming. All that being said, I can't deny the quality and uniqueness of the ingredients that went into every dish we had. Additionally, the service was excellent. read more

We went to Odd Duck for the happy hour. They always have such great service. We usually sit at the bar. Our bartender, Joe, was extremely pleasant and made sure our glasses were always full. They have a solid happy hour menu with 25% off certain menu items. The pickled vegetables were good. It was my first time having picked olives and they hit the spot. The ceviche was definitely a highlight. I usually don't like cucumbers, but it added a refreshing texture to balance the spice. The summer squash salad was delicious. The ranch at the bottom tasted dill heavy to me, so make sure you like that. And of course the OG, the pork belly sliders. We were told this is what started it all when they were still a food truck. I usually don't like pickles, but they added so much flavor and a hint of spice. It really elevated the slider. This is only available on the happy hour menu so even more reason to come for happy hour! I love how their menu is continually changing and am always excited to see what they create! read more

I want to give a solid 4.5 stars but will round up to 5. I came to odd duck on a Sunday at 4:30 for happy hr - which is when it starts (and it's everyday! 4:30-5:30). The service was great, and the ambiance is fabulous! In my opinion the best time to come is happy hour since otherwise some of the dishes are kinda expensive relative to portion (eg the ceviche - absolutely DELICIOUS, but it's a very small appetizer portion for like $18 as the normal price? Happy hr price is $13.50, 25% off). The wagyu burger though in my opinion was HUGE, filling, and almost tooo delicious... it's VERY heavy though, I ate 3/4 of it and gave 1/4 to my friend, and I was definitely done with just 3/4 of it. The fried aged cheese and wagyu are what do it, but the sauce and add ins round it out so it's just juicy and delicious. I also had the French 86 which was a $10 mocktail with orange and lavender - it was really refreshing. Also - bathrooms immaculate, and there was plenty of street parking next to the building/around the corner like they advertise on their site. Overall I think Odd duck absolutely lives up to the hype! If someone invited me for a happy hour, I would gladly go any time :) read more

This place is consistently good, besides being innovative and seasonal, the quality of the ingredients shines through their food. Some of our favorites from our recent anniversary dinner. We started with cocktails ... Anita creates magic, don't find something you are looking for on the menu just let them know most times they will create something off menu too. Watermelon Chalupa ... divine, cast iron cornbread ... classic. But the star of the evening was hands down the braised goat pizza, such a pleasant surprise with pecan mole and jalapeños. I highly recommend this one ! read more

Had a splendid meal at Odd Duck! They have complimentary valet, which makes parking very easy. Our server was incredibly helpful in walking us through the menu, and the interior of the restaurant was nice and homey. This restaurant excels in the farm to table concept, and the food was excellent! We started off with the ceviche, which was surprisingly very good with the peach Aguachile. A very unique take on the dish. We next got the chicken heart satay which came with an exquisite chimichuri sauce. I am not the biggest fan of organ meats but this was very good and well cooked. We also got the masa naan with lamb which was good, but definitely not a must order. The blackened redfish was such a unique and very Texan dish! The sourdough sauce was something that went so well with fish! Definitely recommend it! The star of the night was the Quail, which was sooooo good! The crawfish dirty rice and sauce that came with it was delicious! I just wish there was more, but obviously there's a limit to how big a quail can be. Overall, would definitely come back to this restaurant! read more

Very casual yet upscale interior. Our party of 4 was seated on the side which appeared to be a closed in patio type area. Our server Jessica was excellent, answering all questions and concerns, detailing the menu with recommendations and constant attention to water refills; replacement dinnerware and such. Valet is complimentary. For a party of four we were advised to order at least 8 shareable portions. We had the August 2024 menu. We ordered ceviche, cornbread, grilled shrimp, Waygu steak, quail, goat pizza, redfish. We added two desserts- the melon dish and the peach cobbler. Two drinks- watermelon Fresca with Lunazul tequila and the comfortably plum with mescal. The general consensus of the group was "good"; "ok";"wonderful let's order all of this again" and for me, my faves were the cornbread and the ceviche. The redfish was a winner. Pizza, steak, and quail all fell in the middle. The grilled shrimp was agreeably the least of our favorites-and heads up it comes with the heads on, so if that's not your sort of thing, maybe skip these spicy sea servings! Of dessert, the melon ice cream was a pleasant surprise- light yet satisfying and the cobbler was just ok. The peach cobbler or its accompanying ice cream had a heavy anise or licorice flavor which befits the restaurant's name- odd But this is coming from a true GA peach who has her own expectations of peach cobbler. read more

I wanted to check this place out due to the high ratings and reviews. It was good but I don't really get the hype. Split 4 dishes between 2 people. The snapper crudo was really good and fresh. The beet salad as well. The Thai sweet potato salad was nothing special and expected better based off the reviews. The redfish was pro t least favorite item. I also felt the servers kept trying to take our plates away even though we had food left and it got really annoying after a while. Not really worth the price tag. read more

The naan bread dish with a flavorful yoghurt poached egg dip was by far the favorite. The seasoning and the creamy consistency paired with fresh naan bread was a winner. The second favorite was this angel hair pasta with chorizo style lamb meat and cheddar cheese shavings! So creamy and smooth with the perfect ratio of sauce. The least favorite was the Wagyu burger. For the price point it wasn't anything special vs the other flavorful dishes on the menu. The soft shell crab added interesting texture but overall was not amazed at this one. read more

Meh, expensive ok food. Burger and the cornbread was the only hit, others were hyped up small portion with high prices for no reason.

Every detail, from the enthusiastic recommendations from the valet to receiving a text when a member of our party left their sunglasses (NO, it wasn't me this time!), was excellent. I had been curious about Odd Duck in the past so I am really glad we were able to get in while my friend was in town. Valet is complimentary, which is really nice, especially in this area where parking is scarce. She was possibly the most enthusiastic and welcoming valet I've ever encountered. We had a reservation, which is HIGHLY recommended. We were a few minutes early, but we were promptly seated. All parties are asked for food allergies, for which they will supply a corresponding menu for each. Our server was engaged and educated on the menu. The four of us ordered the cornbread, pappardelle pasta (both recommended by the valet), mole pork shoulder (my personal favorite), beet and sunchoke salad, and wagyu burger. Each item was brought out perfectly timed and all were so amazingly flavored. Even my carrot cocktail - yes, you read that right - was quite tasty. Without a doubt, I will definitely be back. read more

Have been meaning to come here for a long time and finally had a chance to try this place. They had an electric outage in the kitchen last week so they cancelled our reservation, so we came the week after. I've got to say here are some of my favorite dishes although their menu does change quite often : 1. Thai melon salad - amazing flavors. The beer battered pork belly with the melon bits, cilantro and fish sauce- everything in this dish was surprisingly well harmonized and very flavorful. 2. The cornbread The cornbread had perfectly crisp edges and soft insides, and I loved the little kick the peppers had and i think there were a bit of ginger in it too- fluffy and cooked to perfection. The crawfish ravioli was a bit of a flop. The pasta was definitely undercooked, and it was too salty. Too overwhelming for a pasta dish. The carrot cake churros were decent but also a pass for me although I love carrot cake and churros. The queso dip was just ok- think this would have paired better with vanilla ice cream. The wagyu burger is really delicious and i loved that they used pickled carrots inside and arugula to really cut the cheesiness but overall was way too heavy for me and I would pass next time. I would recommend getting a reservation in advance, and our server was really great! Overall I would recommend giving it a try. read more

Easily the best meal we had during a quick trip in Austin. I asked my friend who lives here to give me her #1 spot and this was it. It's a little more upscale but still gives off casual vibes, enough that I didn't have to dress nice for. We were seated in the covered outdoor area and it was quite nice. I had no issues with service. It was hard to narrow down what to order. After seeing other tables get the cornbread (and to smell it), that was the first thing we locked down. We followed that with the ceviche. I wasn't sure about it at first, strawberry and potato chips. Don't be a skeptic like me because it was delicious and I couldn't get enough of it. Portions are not super generous so we also got a beet salad. It honestly remains the best beet salad I've had in a restaurant. What I liked about the appetizers were the balance of flavors and textures. For mains, we had the skirt steak and fried chicken (I think). Steak was cooked perfectly. Was it the best steak ever? No - but it was a steak seasoned and cooked very well. The other dish was a little more forgettable out of the meal. We ended with a citrusy-meringue panna cotta. I apologize I can't remember the details and it is not on the current menu selection. Again, a great balance of flavors and textures. They know what they're doing at Odd Duck. I loved everything and will for sure return one day, especially knowing that the menu changes with the seasons. read more
