As I'm finally getting back into the hobby and venturing into reefs for the first time, I've been driving around visiting LFSs. I'm lucky to have Oceanlife not too far from me. This is a smaller LFS that focuses on saltwater/reef tanks. They have quite a few frag tanks with various softies, LPS, and SPS corals that all seem healthy and fairly priced. The staff has always been super patient and helpful when I have questions or when I just want to browse. They've been nice about letting me be particular when choosing specific fish/inverts/corals. They're also very knowledgeable and helpful, especially as I'm still new to this side of the hobby. It seems like Oceanlife is a staple among reef keepers in the area and they've definitely built relationships with folks. People get greeted by first name and seem to be able to special order things as well. All around, it seems like what you look for in a LFS! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place! I recently got my first 10 gallon reef tank and these guys test my water every 3 days to make sure it's ready to go before allowing me to purchase anything. Even with the new adjusted hours I unknowingly came in a minute before closing and to my surprise, Nick still took the time to patiently test my water thoroughly and refused to sell me any fish or corals because my water still wasn't ready. Fast forward a couple weeks later and my water is finally ready and they will be seeing a lot of me! What attracted me to this place is that the store is super clean and the prices are generally better than any other marine-life store in the Houston area. The staff is always super friendly, professional and knowledgeable which I am so thankful for as an aquarium novice such as myself. Love love love this place. Can't emphasize it enough! Everyone is so knowledgeable and willing to help. Can't stress that enough because other fish stores they would usually brush you off. My SO comes here frequently to where I get embarrassed because we sometimes walk out empty handed but nevertheless they still assist and answer any questions we have. From their personal experience and their extensive knowledge, you get drawn into their conversations. They don't discriminate age as long as you have an interest in the marine hobby. The store is relatively small but they have a beautiful selection of coral frags. They have a good inventory that they restock every Wednesday/Thursday. The one thing I love about this place is that they want to make sure they sell the highest quality live stock. They even advise what is best for your tank and sometimes against what you want to get for the better of your tank. Really am glad we found this hidden gem! When I first started, I bought all of my supplies and livestock here. I used to drive 3 hours round trip because I would visit this and one other store in the area. Tried to be a good customer. They had a piece (multiples) recently that I was interested in so I messaged them to see if I could buy it and pick it up a few days later. First message was on Sunday and they read it that day and didn't respond. Messaged again Monday, they read it, no response. Final message Wednesday which they read immediately with no response. I know they hold things for people because I've seen the messages all over their tanks. Not going to be a loyal customer when the favor is not returned. I won't be returning and will advise others as well. All of my business will be going to either Galactic or That Aquarium Place because they treat their customers well and have held things for me in the past. read more

Wow! Hands down the best saltwater coral selection I have ever seen at a local fish store. You can buy small frags or big colonies. From LPS to SPS, the corals are affordable! Love this place new favorite and will be on my books for customers service which is extraordinary! The entire staff were all extremely helpful and nice. Which is hard to find. I am a beginner at this fish hobby, the willingness by the staff is phenomenal, Fish gallery is only good for kids to come by to visit with the huge display tanks. Ocean life has these huge petri dish on all the coral tanks for you to place on the water to see the coral closer a bit magnified. Very cool The prices of corals and fish are cheaper, the saying "you pay for what you get" does not apply here. The fish and corals look very good. Lol I may be hyping to much but once you give this place a go, you will feel very passionate to write about it too. I recommend this place to everyone that is interested in the hobby. By far the best experience I have had with a saltwater aquarium store. What sets this store apart from all of the other stores I have visited and purchased from is their staff. I bought a yellow tang that was on sale in this store. That fish was sick. My bad I did not listen to my wife when she said that doesn't look so good. All the yellow tang looked not in the best shape but I took the risk. Guess what next day that fish looked in bad shape and started loosing it's fins. Then the color changed and after I week got my coral beauty angel sick too. My coral beauty angel was in perfect shape full of color. My tang die now my angel is sick too. I am not returning to this store ever again. I rather drive for an hour to another store where they has healthy fish. This store should not be selling sick fish to anyone. read more

This is the only place I trust for information, suggestions, etc! I went in this morning thinking that I might need a new pump for my 70 gallon Tenecor tank. After I told Nick my issue, he gave me a mini lesson on water chemistry and assured me I needed only to do a water change and add fresh water to my tank.
