Awesome little store! Hidden gem. The guy who owns it knows his stuff. He answered all my many questions about aquariums and didn't make me feel rushed at all. I bought some aquarium plants and a huge piece of driftwood at a fair price. Petco doesn't even have the selection that he has. The fish here are healthy because each tank has its own filter system and he's got way more variety than the big stores. He can even order animals if you're looking for something specific. He's also got snakes, tortoises, turtles, spiders, and other exotics. The store's clean and he lets you browse without hovering. Great experience. I'll definitely be back. read more

Where do I begin? I can start with the fish. The most awesome discus I've ever owned, fantastic angels, Africans, etc, all healthy and beautiful. Then there is the sweet little Min Pin I bought. Great deal and a fantastic little dog. He's a full member of the family that my little Pom has become best buddies with. Which takes me to the grooming. Absolutely the best grooming my Pom has ever had. He looks like a show dog. And last but not least is the great people at Paradise. Paradise exceeded all of my expectations in a pet store. I went in to buy a parakeet for my daughter and a bird for myself as well and the staff made sure I was taken care of but were not pushy. While I was making my decision they made sure I didn't have any questions but once again did not try to rush me or anything. They had a great selection of birds and while their bird prices were about the same as everyone else's in the area they did have babies while other places did not. The accessories such as cages and food and toys were way cheaper than everyone else. I was very happy with this store and look forward to buying from them for years to come. read more

A super fun place to go! You would think that they are dogs and fish, but one of their main attractions are their beautiful selection of birds. The playful Red Macaw, Nico will tell you "Hello" when you walk in and wave to you when you wave at him. The animals are all healthy and well priced. I have posted a review on google showing birds right before I bought them. They give you a very good deal on birds who bite. I absolutely recommend this store for beginner pet owners. I have a wonderful community tank that I have had for about 6 months with mostly betta fish. They are a happy and beautiful group living in a heavily planted 55 gal. The man working said rudely, "well, you got lucky", and turned back to his paper. Then when I looked at his bettas, half were dead and had been there so long they were decomposing... no other fish in there, just rotting away (gross). Then I picked up a dirty used timer and ask how much, he said $3, that's fair, but we don't take cards under $5. I put it back... I had cash but tbh, I'd rather give my $3 to someone on offer-up who would have at least wiped it off and was nice about it. I have dogs, a 75 gallon aquarium, and a 55 gallon and I spend a lot on my pets and accessories. This dismissive sales person/owner/or manager left me a bad taste and I will not be back. Edit: I was never rude. I tried to start conversation because I am excited about my new fish keeping hobby. My mom was with me and she raises guppies and we were coming back from a birthday party. We both thought the man was rude. Also, I did have cash and it's crazy that you continue to insult me. I'm not a child and I know what an old fish carcass looks like. It didn't even look like a fish anymore. I have been a manager in restaurants for more than 20 years and it blows my mind that you and that older man talk to customers that way. I went here to buy dubia roaches. I hoped to support a local business instead of buying online. The man behind the counter was gruff and not very friendly. It was obvious that I was annoying him or inconveniencing him with my inexperience. I'll just buy online in the future. There is a sign outside requiring customers to wear masks but no one working inside was wearing a mask. We were on our way to one of the large chain pet stores yesterday to purchase a parakeet and decided to drop in Paradise Fish and Pets on a whim. Honestly I wasn't expecting too much when we turned into the shopping center (after all, how can an independent pet store compete with the large chain stores?). After we got inside I was pleasantly surprised. I am very impressed with this pet store! It reminds me of how pet stores were when I was growing up. Paradise Fish and Pets had everything we were looking for and had great prices (the parakeet was priced a little lower than the larger pet stores). The owners were very knowledgeable and friendly, and my kids had a blast looking at the assortment of animals (especially the macaw). I just wrote a review here..but don't see it! :( So here it goes again, I drove all the way from Montgomery tx to visit a pup at Paradise fish and pets and ended up falling in love and taking him home! He is too cute and a great friend for my 11 year old chi. He is a long haired chihuahua and is a healthy and happy pup. The store owner (Julie, I believe) is awesome and honored an expired coupon I had brought in. They are very fair on pricing and don't charge thousands for an animal like some places or greedy breeders do. I will definitely be coming back if we ever do decide to add to our little chi pack! ;) Great place !! As I mentioned in my other review, which I guess didn't post, any one who has health concerns about purchasing a puppy from a pet store, I got my short haired chi from a pet store near humble almost 12 years ago and she has NEVER had a health problem. Good breeder I presume. There are bad breeders everywhere, whether you purchase animals from them directly or go through a pet store. However, a good pet store (like this one) will only purchase from good breeders. ;) read more

Paradise Fish & Pets is new to the Humble area, so the map on Yelp isn't updated but the address is. We went in today to look for a better dog food option for our dogs with sensitive skin and allergy issues. Although the store currently only has one dog food option, the owner spent at least 20 minutes talking to us and asking us for our opinions and input to what we'd like to see in her store. She went out of her way to gather our opinion and really seems to want to meet her customers' needs. We ended up buying two rib bones for our dogs (which are currently being devoured) and a bag of Salmon snacks. The prices were fair, if not cheaper than the bigger chain pet stores. We looked through the store and all of the fish looked extremely healthy, as did the selection of rodents and reptiles. There were four puppies currently for sale in the store and were all healthy looking. The owner only sells puppies that she gathered from small breeders to ensure that no puppies are gathered from mills! We are definitely going to return to the store and hope to make it our go-to pet store for all needs! read more

Nothing but puppy mill / back yard breeder/ broker puppies here! Please do not buy ANYTHING from this place! Only shop where there are no puppies or kittens for sale. A reputable breeder only breeds to improve conformation and temperament of health tested parents,against any genetic diseases. They breed on a very limited basis. They don't breed for profit. A reputable breeder sure as heck won't sell puppies to a pet store, where they can't ask questions, about the potential owners, verify vet records or do home checks. A reputable breeder also never breeds two different breeds to make a mix breed! As they like to refer, a mix as a "designer breed." Example a "Morkie" is a mixed breed. Adopt from a shelter or breed rescue instead. Don't support breeding for quantity and profit. read more

Just moved to the Houston area and decided to give Paradise Fish and Pets a try! I have a 4 year old, all white mini Pomeranian, named Angel. I contacted Paradise on a Tuesday to schedule a Saturday appointment. They were very welcoming and professional, and was able to accept Angel's vaccinations via fax from her Vet in California. On the day of drop off, the staff was very friendly and informative. They took Angel right away. 3 hours later, Angel was all done! The groomer did an awesome job! She followed my requests to the "T." Also, the price was reasonable given that I asked for Angel to be cut with scissors all over! I will definitely be retuning! Not welcoming, groomer is unfriendly...will never go back. After being turned away from the less than pleasant groomer at "Paradise fish and pets" saying my less than 5 pound Pomeranian puppy was "too aggressive", I began calling nearby groomers and explaining what had happened at this pet groomer shop. First my 10 month old Pomeranian has never been groomed before and is protective of new people. When she meets new people, she needs to be comforted and needs time to get to know the person. As soon as we walked into "paradise fish and pet" a man working there came up to her and she let out a warning low growl. I explained to the man she needs time To warm up but he proceeded to put his hands in her face. This made her start to snarl and growl. She didn't bite him and has never bit anyone but she will let you know if you invaded her space. Well, being that this is a pet groomer and pet shop, you would think you would understand that certain dogs need time to warm up and to make them feel comfortable before shoving hands in there face. Immediately, the groomer looks at my pup and says " "I'm not touching that" and "no groomer would take her" because she is too Aggressive. She spoke to us like my pup was Satan's spawn which is hardly the case w my dog. It is fear aggression and being scared and not because she is flat out aggressive and mean. I was very much offended on how she talked to us and from the moment we walked in the door we were not greeted Or welcomed. I was weary that I could never get my pup groomed. I called up Pierre's too grooming down 1960 by Arby's. I explained my story to them and they happily took us. When we walked in the door we were greeted, asked if we like to tour the place, and most importantly, they took the time to comfort and calm my Lucy down. I met the groomer and he assured me that she is not aggressive but it's fear and that he is dealt with more difficult dogs. I left her at Pierre's and the groomer reported she did very well and that we were welcome back anytime. I highly recommend Pierre's grooming and highly discourage anyone thinking about going to paradise fish and pets. read more
