My husband went into the shop to get our puppy some pet food and possibly treats. She eats Orijen dog food and I'm specific about her bought treats. My husband was helped by a woman but he was unsure about the treats she showed him so he said he would wait for me to go get them at Gimmie a Bark. The woman, who had been helpful and nice turned hostile. "Well you didn't Have to tell me that" and turned her back on him, rang up the $5 a lb dog food and threw the receipt at him. I love our dogs, I always want to get the very best for them. I love going to different pet stores, especially privately owned ones, to spoil my pooches. I will never step foot into this store. You are closer than Gimmie a Bark is but there they treat me like a long term customer, even the first time I was there. Your rude treatment of my husband will cost you my money. read more

Floppy Pets is a refreshing alternative to all of those chain big-box pet stores. a locally owned pet supply store, they sell pet food, pet clothes, medicines, accoutrements, and really anything your fuzzy (but hopefully not floppy) pets could desire. they also sell live fish! they have grooming services as well, but i haven't tried those....yet. sometimes my cats need something desperately...for instance, when my furbabies davy and sidney both had the stomach bug, they had to take pills. cats just don't do pills. sidney would fly around the house like a bat out of hell when i tried to wrangle him and jam this pill down his throat. then he would drool for a long time and make me feel terrible. on the verge of tears, i drove the 4 blocks to floppy pets and pleaded for help. the owner recommended a variety of options, and when i came home, medicating the cats became a non issue. in fact. the cats now beg for the treats that the pills were hidden in. GENIUS. the only weird thing about floppy pets (besides their name...i still don't get it), is that it is packed to the gills (no pun intended) with stuff. but thats ok. just ask the owner for your item of desire. he'll hook you up (ha), for sure! read more

after using clear lake kennels for years on grooming, I decided to try floppy pets since it is a lot closer, they did not disappoint, I knew exactly who was grooming my dog and she did a great job on both my poodles (standard and toy) the groomer also went the extra mile for me and put bowflowers in and painted their toenails, something a groomer has not done for me in about 15 years. also we had puppies we had to bottle feed and the petshop was very helpful and stocked all w needed. This kind of service is what is missing in all the Petsmarts and petcos. I would highly recommend esp. if you are expecting any kind of knowledgeable service. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. A few people who work there are friendly while one or two others are just okay, which is fine. My main thing is that nearly every time I came in, back when I was dipping my toes into keeping fish, no one could ever give me knowledge info. I am fairly knowledgeable, but I'd have occasional questions. There were times I'd come in for something and someone wouldn't even know which fish was what and I would have to tell them. They would also house things together that don't need to be together. They're about the same when it comes to knowledge on reptiles. I just kind of decided that I should do research on my own instead of asking so that I know exactly what I need when I come in and don't have to ask questions. Another thing that I'd noticed that used to annoy me is that prices change around a lot with the food. I buy one particular bag of cat food and it would vary by several dollars every time I came in to buy it (about once a month). I got in the habit of either keeping the receipt or tearing the price tag off the bag before I tossed it and taking it in there the next time to make sure I didn't end up paying more. They were great about changing the price. Overall, I do like this place, I just have to pay attention and not have questions about anything outside of where something is or basic questions about cats or dogs. read more

Most definitely recommend Floppy Pets!! Have a 2 1/2 yr old Boxer and have been coming here since day one. Sara, owners daughter, is awesome! She's so friendly, knowledgeable and goes out of her way to be helpful. She will suggest new things but is NOT pushy at all. Floppy Pets has a great stock, the regular items plus new and different items as well. They have canned foods as well as the dry food. I personally recommend Taste of the Wild dog food as it's naturally healthy for your dog! Floppy Pets is the only place I've found that carries it. And if you have a Boxer, or any breed with a sensitive stomach, this brand of food is excellent! Floppy Pets is a small place but they are trying to rework to allow more space. At least stop by and check it out!! You'll be glad you did! OH! And the candles work wonders ridding your home of odors! They also have a Floppy Pets in Friendswood if you live in that area.
