"In a perfect world every dog would have a home, and every home would have a dog." Looking for a fur-ever friend? Want to feel warm and fuzzy that you helped one of the over 1.2 million homeless animals in the greater Houston area? Well look no further! Reggie's Friends has adopted out almost 200 dogs to families as nearby as Houston and as far away as Canada! They really go the extra mile for their dogs. I myself am a new foster (kind of fell into it when Reggie's helped me out with a stray dog that was found in my neighborhood) and I've gotta say I've never been treated so well as a foster. I was so happy with the first experience with them that I quickly signed up for another! I have fostered for another Houston shelter for a couple of years where the director took a REALLY long time to learn my name, and sometimes if my dog would go on a sleepover the coordinators would forget to tell me if the dog was being adopted or not...little things like that are forgivable of course since we're all fallible humans, but they add up to a lukewarm experience. Not so at Reggie's. The director is very involved and is willing to answer any questions I have - she's also super sweet and you can tell she cares about her foster humans as much as she cares about her foster dogs ;) It means alot! Their adoptions coordinator is also very gifted in the art of getting each dog some exposure. The stray dog I mentioned before had three applications waiting within a couple of weeks of me getting her! They are a fairly small operation doing great big things and they appreciate any help offered by our community. Adopting, donating, fostering, or just spreading the word (liking their facebook/insta/twitter, buying some of their merch, etc). I know there are a ton of rescues in Houston but please believe this one is worth your charity if you feel so inclined. TL;DR Street life to sweet life! Support RF! WOO!

Ask the Community - Reggie's Friends

Can anyone give me a phone number for the owner of Reggies Friends?

I'm in rescue also and we never give out personal phone numbers without permission. We would be flooded constantly with phone calls... mostly people asking us to come get a dog (we can get 20 or more of those a day. If you look on the website… Read more

We have 6 dogs at this clinic with various issues. He is able to refer you to another practice for specialties (one dog had to have an eye removed due to cancer) or cost (we have a pup with AIHA- a lifelong anemia). Dr. Ressell calls in evenings after surgeries and big events to check on you, answer questions, etc. WE HAVE NEVER HAD A VET WHO TOOK SUCH CARW FOR HIS PATIENTS OR THEIR OWNERS. Last week the time finally came to put our beloved Floyd to sleep. Due to COVID restrictions, no one is allowed inside. So they brought our sweet pup out to us and gave us as much time as we wanted to say our heartbreaking goodbyes. Dr. Ressell even came outside and sat on the ground with us to explain everything!! That evening, he called to check on us and let us know our boy passed peacefully and reassured us that we made the right choice for him. I will never trust any other vet with our fur babies!! Lots of negative reviews about the front desk, but we have always found them to be sweet but sometimes a little frazzled because this place is very busy because everyone knows how great it is!

I had to put him down one week after the vet gave her all of her vaccinations in one day. I did my research and found out that it is not advised for a vet to administer all vaccinations at once to a senior dog or one with health issues and an underdeveloped nose. Our sweet Shih Tzu began to have bloody diarrhea the next day. Prices are astronomical at this practice.

I…read moreagreed and when I was at home, the vet called and asked for permission to sedate my cat because she got upset when the trimmers were turned on. I indicated when I checked her in that I wanted her sedated and yet, they waited until they had her and turned the clippers on to realize they needed sedation. When she came home, she had an extremely noticeable limp and her back leg. I waited 24 hours because I knew she had been sedated and perhaps she was just wobbly on her legs. The limp got worse, so I took her back and they took more x-rays only to tell me that her patella was slipping in and out, but she was unsure which it was at that time. They then wanted me to pay for the X-rays, and I refused because she was injured while at the vet. I took her to another vet and he took his time to physically examine her leg (she was not happy) and gave me medicine to reduce swelling and to help with the pain. I'm not sure if she fell from the table when the trimmer were turned on at Northpark, or someone grabbed her leg out of instinct when she tried to jump from the table, but Northpark acted like it was my fault and they had nothing to do with her injury. It's been about 6 months now, and she still walks differently. The fact they couldn't' even take responsibility for what happened is the most disappointing, more than the $$ I paid for the treatment.

I even clarified, "So the first dose lasts 2 months and it's comped?" and was told yes. Twice. By 2 different people. When I arrived for my appointment, they ran the quote again and suddenly that was no longer true. Instead, they said only Revolution could be comped, which is a 1 month topical, not the 2 month medication I was originally told about. At that point, it's not even about the money, it's the principle. I made my decision based on the information your staff gave me, and then it completely changed when I got there. So now: * My cat Tilly was stressed in a crate for over an hour for no reason * My time was wasted * Your front desk staff had to deal with a frustrated client (I know it's not entirely their fault they are doing their best and are very kind) * Your clinic lost a customer entirely All over a single dose of medication that could have easily been honored. Terrible business call on your part. Really disappointing experience. My cat Tilly gives yall two paws down.
