You can tell they absolutely love the birds here which is uncommon. They stayed late for us to come pick her up and didn't make us feel like an inconvenience at all. She's a healthy, happy baby and we couldn't be happier. ***Also if you have a problem with the price of their birds remember these animals live anywhere between 30-50+ years. They don't look like much when you first walk in, but when you ask about a specific bird or tell them you are interested, they will take you to the back. They are much bigger than you think, but it is very crowded with beautiful birds. They are all in great condition. My only setback is that they are a little overpriced on a few of their animals and toys. I understand the amount of time put into these birds, I also have the same line of work. However, their toys and cages can easily be bought somewhere else for half the price. I love this store, would recommend for a first bird to be kept as a pet. read more

I have no idea how this place gets 5 star reviews. Went there to buy a parakeet. Shame on me for trusting these people. They are sold under 3 months old for a reason. Mine?? "Oh around a year old". Paid for them to clip her wings and they cut her too short and made her bleed. She is TERRIFIED of people. Their birds are crammed in small cages in stacks upon stacks of each other. I have purchased my birds from these people and have always had good luck with them. My babies are very healthy and loveable and I have enjoyed many years with my feathered babies. I just discovered this lovely place when looking for a new place to board/groom my eclectus. I live in Clear Lake now and have been to all bird places in the Houston area except this one I discovered. I love ABC - I wish I could go more often but they are in Houston & I am not! Jamie Whittaker, the owner is a fantastic person. They are great with the birds and really care. They offer bird food, cages, toys and other supplies you need for your birds. They will order something for you if they don't have it. They also sell birds - rehomed adults and handfed babies. Grooming services (wing and nail trims), behavior consultations and boarding are available. ABC is open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Jamie and her husband run a great store and also take the time to help out bird organizations. ABC is my favorite bird store! Cool bird store! I was looking a natural wood perch for my budgie to span across her cage. After going to a few stores, I realized most stores cater more towards larger birds. I have shopped 3 wonderful times at this location. The staff seems to be extremely knowledgeable about all the different variety of bird seeds that they carry. And I do love the many different varieties to choose from that they offer. A pleasant business to browse and educate yourself on the ingredients in the food and the staff let you know what they're Birds seem to love. And the quality of the food seems to be extremely good and my very picky choosy African grey seems to love the food that was recommended to us and definitely enjoy the toys that I was able to handmade with all the different items to choose from that this pet store offers. These people don't know anything about birds. They only feed their birds millet, which is the equivalent to only feeding your child candy and sweets. My budgie that I adopted from this store is still addicted to millet and would rather starve to death than eat ANYTHING else I offer him. They were not knowledgeable on determining gender in young budgies (in fact, they told me it was impossible) and are absolutely not knowledgeable on proper diets for birds. They also keep all their birds shoved in small cages in a tiny room in the back. Bird droppings and seeds were on the floor and the birds seemed miserable. My budgie is about to die due to this store's incompetence in raising birds. When I attempted to call and ask about changing the diet they told me to stick with it. Absolutely unprofessional and ridiculous staff members. Only go here if you want to buy an overpriced bird that will die of starvation because they're addicted to millet. read more

She spent a good hour with my family and I in answering all of our questions, explaining why's and why nots, showing us products, and of course showing off her birds. All the while she knew from the time we walked in that we were not buying anything. She truly cares for her birds and is extremely knowledgeable. Comparing her store/birds to others in Houston hers is the best. All of the birds we clean as well as their cages. They were all playful and would easily come to you. I get my parrot food here, it is cheaper then petsmart and petco by $5.00! also got my parrots wings and nails clipped here and was done quickly and priced right. the lady that works there is helpful and gives helpful advice and is honest.
